* {{Foreshadowing}}: Elaine and Richard joke about how the former wants no other man to look after her. The ending sorely misproves that fact.

Richard Hall, a graphic designer with a comfortable life, discovers that aspects of his identity are slowly being erased. Initially, Richard is convinced that his wife and best friend are plotting against him, but when he discovers that his own mother not only doesn't recognize him, but claims that she never even had any children, Richard discovers that some unseen force is erasing him from reality.

!!"Slippage" provides examples of:

* DownerEnding: Richard finally vanishes from existence, and his wife and best friend, who no longer remember him, end up together.
* NothingIsScarier: There is no indication whatsoever why Richard is being erased from existence, nor is there any indication of who or what is responsible for it. All we know is that Richard just vanishes without a trace.
* NotQuiteDead: The last seconds of the episode show that Richard didn't actually disappear, only turned invisible, as he opens and closes the door of his former house as his wife and friend make out.
* ShoutOut: Richard's has a poster of his favorite movie: ''Film/ItsAWonderfulLife'', which also famously deals with someone who sees his identity disappear. But while life without George Bailey turns out to be worse for everyone involved, life without Richard Hall seems to make everything ''better''.
* UnPerson: What happens to Richard throughout the episode, as every aspect and record of his identity is wiped from existence.
* WhamShot: The scene where Richard's yearbook picture ''visibly disappears from reality'', revealing that whatever is erasing his identity is very real.
