* YouKeepUsingThatWord: Whoever wrote this clearly doesn’t understand what the word "logic" means. For example, Spock dumping and igniting the fuel is 100% logical. It was a calculated gamble.

* ScienceMarchesOn: All the talk of quasars and "quasar-like phenomenon". When the episode was made it had still not been determined exactly what a quasar is. Today we know that it is a supermassive black hole at the center of a galaxy that emits a LOT of energy due to infalling matter in its accretion disc. But modern understanding of quasars makes the premise of this episode (a "quasar-like phenomenon" within a galaxy) extremely silly.

** In a follow-up novel (non-canon though), Boma was court-martialed for his insubordination. The charges were brought by [=McCoy=] and Scotty, not Spock.
** Charges may not have been necessary if [=McCoy=] had reprimanded Lt. Boma after his derisive comment about Spock's brain (no not that one), instead of condoning and/or supporting it.

The ''Enterprise'' is on their way to Markus III with medical supplies when they come across Murasaki 312, a quasar-like formation. Much to the objection of Galactic High Commissioner Ferris, Kirk sends a party to investigate. After all, there might be a planet of space babes out there! (There is, Jim, but you'd probably get lost inside one!)
