* AngstWhatAngst: InUniverse. The woman Summer accidentally saved is not even sad about losing her Kuato, but she's rather romantically happy to reunite with Summer anyway.

* IJustWantToBeLoved: Summer exploits the attribute slider to become popular with the rest of her friends at a party; something Morty also wishes to exploit and is butt hurt over it because Rick didn't give it to him before.

* WhiteVoidRoom: When Summer links up with Morty she finds herself in a dark, empty dimension full of [[PlacidPlaneOfAnkleDeepWater shallow water]].

* BodyHorror: Due to Morty and Summer tossing themselves into a pool with the attribute slider, it goes haywire, causing Morty to be horribly disfigured and fused into Summer's stomach. Then Morty gets surgically removed and is reduced as a single being...that he ends up liking when it gives him the chance to be popular by riding Kenneth's walking pod.

* RescueRomance: After breaking out of her restraints, Summer saves an unnamed young Kuato woman who, like her, was abducted by traffickers, had her Kuato removed from her, and is about to be thrown into a fire. The two of them get together in the ending.

* BigNo: Kenneth's Kuato (x several layers) when Rick uses his spider-like pod to force him to go into the ocean where he'll drown.

* OpenSaysMe: Played straight with Summer kick-opening doors at the Taken house. Subverted with Rick who wants to do the same, only to [[EpicFail sprain his ankle]].

* ImplausibleDeniability: Kwyatt insists to Kenneth that he didn't betray him... though obviously he did lead Rick and Summer right to his lair.

* DeliberatelyMonochrome: Rick's garage camera has only a black-and-white setting for recording purposes, which the garage points out is for dramatic effect. Rick hates it.

** After she jumps the guy who put her on a ConveyorBeltODoom to be thrown into a furnace and was about to do the same to another young woman, causing ''him'' to fall onto it and be incinerated instead, she coldly tells him "''Arriva'''dead'''ci'', [[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch bitch]]."

** Even Kenneth's ''knife'' has its own Kuato knife.

* PrehensileHair: Summer's hair was modified by Rick to act as a weapon, but only when it's told the right commands. She first uses it to pick her handcuffs, and Rick later orders it to kill a guy by [[OrificeInvasion going down his throat]], convincing Summer to tell Rick to change her hair back to normal out of disgust.
* PstandardPsychicPstance: Spoofed. Two of Kenneth's mooks use the stance when killing Kwyatt, and Rick then does the same thing back, complete with high-pitched noise, causing them to flee. Rick [[SubvertedTrope then reveals]] it's just a small device that generates the sound to fake them out.

* JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: Rick is a ''little'' too eager to punch people for information, enjoying the thrill of it. Once he gets going, he basically goes into a punching rampage, even to people who don't deserve it, though he at least apologizes to the cab driver and bartender.

* NotHelpingYourCase: Kwyatt insists to Kenneth that he didn't betray him... though obviously he did lead Rick and Summer right to his lair.

** Summer stops Rick from intervening in Kuato-Morty's fistfight with the BigBad to give her brother a chance to win it himself (at least until the other Kuato pulls a knife), not unlike how Morty stopped Beth from stepping into Jerry's fight with Pissmaster in "Analyze Piss".

* EpicFail: Seeing Summer kick-opening doors prompts Rick to want to do it, only to sprain his ankle.
* FictionalSport: Apparently, "frolf" is at least a high-school sport in this universe. The name is a {{Portmanteau}} of "frisbee" and "golf" (which Rick lampshades), and accordingly seems to be some kind of mixture of the two. The denouement sees Kuato-Morty join the school's frolf team and score the winning "par".

* GenerationXerox: Rick casually tells Summer that he puts more trust in her than Morty because she reminds Rick of her grandmother, his late wife Diane, though he doesn't elaborate more than that while they defend themselves from Kuato smugglers.

'''Garage A.I.''': For dramatic effect.\\

* PlayedForDrama: Invoked. Rick's garage camera has only a black-and-white setting for recording purposes, which the garage points out is for dramatic effect. Rick hates it.

* BrokenRecord: Kuatos can only say [[CharacterCatchphrase "Open your mind!"]], though apparently it's its own language, kinda like with [[Film/GuardiansOftheGalaxy2014 Groot]]. The BigBad is unique as a kuato that can speak normally.

* WelcomeToCorneria: Kuato Morty and all the rest of the Kuato can only ever say "open your mind" over and over, which turns out to be sort of a message to their hosts to do just that to telepathically talk (even if they're separated), though they do also directly translate into other sentences.

* ShoutOut:
** Summer and Morty accidentally up merging, with the latter becoming a "Kuato" out of the former's stomach like in ''Film/{{Total Recall|1990}}'', with Rick even name-dropping the movie.
** Kwyatt tells Summer that Kuato-Morty was brought to "a ''Film/{{Taken}}'' house." And when Rick struggles during his and Summer's attempted rescue of Morty, she asks him in annoyance if this is "your first ''Taken''".
** Rick activates Summer's ponytail implant by saying "[[WesternAnimation/InspectorGadget Go go ponytail secret move.]]"
** Morty's buyers resemble the [=VIPs=] from ''Series/SquidGame''.

* RuleOfCool: Kenneth's moving pod is apparently so amazing that Morty stays as a Kuato just to show off how cool it is to everyone else (until he uses the missiles it's got by accident and blows up the bleachers).

* OneWordVocabulary: One sentence, in this case. Once Morty becomes a Kuato, the only thing he's capable of saying is "Open your mind!" in various intonations, and the same goes for all other Kuatos. While this phrase does tell Summer and everyone else with one what they need to do to telepathically communicate with them, it's shown via Kenneth's RepeatingSoTheAudienceCanHear that, like PokemonSpeak, it translates to something different each time.

* GayOption: After Summer previously shows interest in Jimmy Haddocker--who proves to be incredibly shallow and quick to make fun of her the second she's not "cool"--and Kwyatt, a Kuato guy at the bar who ultimately helps Kuato traffickers kidnap her, she rejects Jimmy's offer at the end of becoming "a new girl to hook up with" for him, in favor of getting together with the girl she earlier saved from being murdered by the traffickers.

* AKindOfOne: Deformed conjoined twins sticking out of the body are consistently referred to as Kuatos, whereas Kuato was the name of a specific mutant in ''Film/TotalRecall''.
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: Played with. Summer ditches the woman who was delivered to the furnace after her, since she's not in any immediate danger anymore, reasoning that she needs to go find Morty and doesn't have time to save her any more than she already has by killing the mortician. Still gets the girl at the end, though.
