Penny explains to a stunned Ruby that she is an artificial person, an experimental machine that can generate an Aura just like a person. To her surprise, Ruby takes in the information calmly and accepts Penny without stint. As the Atlesian soldiers from earlier catch up, Penny hides Ruby and then agrees to go along with the soldiers back "home". The two are separated once again.
Yang and Neptune arrive at Junior's club by motorcycle and Yang makes a dramatic entrance, blasting down the door and loudly exclaiming "Guess who's baaack?", [[TheDreaded which leads to every gun in the room being trained on her immediately.]] Neptune shortly follows [[AmazonChaser ("What a woman!")]], and Junior steps forward. After a short conversation, Yang ascertains that Junior doesn't know anything more than they do, and she pries Neptune away from the twins to continue.
Blake and Sun enter a warehouse where several White Fang members are gathered. Roman Torchwick is there with a strange quiet girl at his flank and a brand-new Atlesian Paladin, one of many prototypes the White Fang have acquired through the black market. To make things worse, Roman is squinting over in their direction, seemingly able to recognise them. Realising this is their cue to leave, Blake shoots out a light and the pair jump for the windows, with the Paladin (piloted by Roman) not far behind. Sun sends out a frantic call to the rest of RWBY for assistance. A fierce highway battle begins with Blake and Sun jumping between traffic as the Paladin knocks cars left and right, forcing Yang into some evasive riding while Neptune peppers the mech with shots. Sun and Neptune are knocked away by the Paladin and are lost, but Weiss has taken position ahead and freezes the entire road, sending the Paladin careening down into the ground below, where Ruby is waiting.
Even though it is a FlawedPrototype mech piloted by someone of questionable skill and experience, the Paladin is very well-armoured and has many weapons, so Team RWBY take as much as they give. Yang, in desperation, leaps onto the back and begins pounding away at the mech with Ember Celica, causing the cockpit to flare up in emergency warnings. Roman reverses through a column, crushing Yang against concrete and rebar, and then punches her for good measure. She tumbles across the floor and lands in a pained heap, as Blake calls out in shock.
It definitely looked painful, but Yang is no stranger to pain. As she climbs to her feet, Ruby explains that her sister's Semblance is to absorb the kinetic energy of blows and transfer it into her own strength. Yang's eyes glow a fierce red and her hair glows with a yellow gleam. When the Paladin throws another punch, Yang catches it dead and then shatters the arm into pieces with a counter-punch. By literally using Yang as a flail for Gambol Shroud, the next hit shatters the mech, sending Roman tumbling across the floor. He gets up and brushes himself off, but the intervention of the strange girl from earlier saves him. RWBY are left watching the two escape on a Bullhead after using some kind of illusion to escape. After a punny quip that fails to soothe Yang's simmering temper, Weiss and Blake walk away as Ruby wonders what happened to Sun and Neptune...
Cut to the two hanging out at A Simple Wok, with Sun seemingly confident that the girls are uninjured.

Yang and Neptune arrive at the Club, hosted by Junior Xiong, who explains he lent his men to Torchwick but they never returned (referencing to their encounter with Ruby in the pilot). Blake and Sun infiltrate a White Fang rally where Torchwick appears, encouraging them to work with him to get revenge on mankind, and unveils one of the Paladin battle mechs. Blake and Sun make their escape only to be pursued by Torchwick in the mech. Team RWBY reunite and dismantle the mech, but Torchwick escapes with help from his associate Neopolitan.
