* Jewelry Bonney is upset, seemingly about Whitebeard being killed by Blackbear while ordering her men that they are sailing to the New World to hunt "him" down. However, later revealed during the Egghead Arc, she is actually hunting down Vegapunk for turning Kuma, her foster father, into a mindless cyborg.

* It is insinuated that Ivankov had a past relationship with Bartholomew Kuma. Later, it is revealed that Kuma is a Revolutionary.

* DefiantToTheEnd: Whitebeard is last seen dying while standing up and, though fatally wounded up front, his back is shown ''shockingly remaining without a single scratch'', representing how he never ran from a fight. His last breath beforehand, acknowledging the One Piece's existence, shocks everyone listening.

** Not to mention how Whitebeard's dying words, and Sengoku was not prepared for it:

* Whitebeard is killed and, in his dying breath, Whitebeard confirms to the world the existence of One Piece and brings a new status quo.

* DownerEnding: The biggest one of any One Piece arc. To sum it up, Ace and Whitebeard die, and Blackbeard manages to take Whitebeard's power from his body and claim it as his own.

* HeroicBSOD: After Ace dies Luffy starts sobbing BrokenTears until he falls unconscious and becomes unresponsive to the outside world. Unfortunately since they are still in a battlefield Luffy's life is in danger forcing his new allies to save him.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Trafalgar Law goes out of his way to come to Marineford to rescue Luffy for unexplained reasons, and escapes with him and Jimbei. Law and Luffy will later ally in the New World.
** When the Marines discover Buggy's BackStory as one of the Roger Pirates, the other prison escapees treat him like some kind of badass. Buggy himself starts to openly fantasize of his infamy growing to the point he'll become a Warlord, even an Emperor. After the TimeSkip, we start to hear more of Buggy's rise to power...

** Whitebeard to ''every single Marine'' he encounters who is lower-ranked than an Admiral. He clears out a group of Marines with ''bazookas'' and swords with a single punch; Bastille goes down literally in one shockwave punch; and he takes down John Giant in two moves. He even takes down Admiral Akainu in three brutal moves [[TranquilFury after the latter pisses him off]] by murdering Ace. Oh, and to top it off, he even defeats Blackbeard in single combat, even as he's ''near-death!''

*** 2. Kill someone the government wants, and that Whitebeard would protect. He originally aimed for Luffy, since Ace would have asked his father to launch a war to rescue Luffy. But since Ace went after Blackbeard, he alters his plan to handing in Ace instead, knowing Whitebard will go to war for him.
