Aggie O'Shea (SpecialGuest Creator/SusanSaintJames), an IntrepidReporter, comes to the 4077th accompanying a soldier friend of hers who was hurt in battle. Hawkeye ([[LovableSexManiac of course]]) takes an instant shine to her, but she's quickly drawn to BJ's quiet charm--and much to his reluctance, he finds himself responding in kind.

--
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: In the opening triage scene, Hawkeye refers to the 4077th as "Pierce's Palpation Parlor."
* AndHereHeComesNow: The officers are having a good laugh over jokes about BJ and Aggie, which end abruptly when BJ enters the mess tent. Father Mulcahy tries to defuse the tension by saying they were [[BlatantLies talking about baseball]], but BJ isn't fooled for a second.
* BlatantLies: Both Aggie and BJ saying they "slept like a rock" the night after their conversation in the Officer's club.
* ContinuityNod: We see many of Potter's paintings that were featured in earlier episodes, including Charles' angry portrait from "[[Recap/MashS6E5TheWinchesterTapes The Winchester Tapes]]", Klinger's Olympic athlete pose and Radar's portrait, both from "[[Recap/MashS4E22TheMoreISeeYou The More I See You]]", and the painting of Potter's own thumb from "[[Recap/MashS7E7TheyCallTheWindKorea They Call the Wind Korea]]".
* DoggedNiceGuy: Hawkeye pushes this trope to the absolute limit in his relentless pursuit of Aggie around the camp.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Between BJ and Aggie, so much that it's the main topic of conversation in the mess hall the next morning.
* TheHedonist: Aggie gives no sign of concern over BJ being married until he makes it clear how seriously he takes his wedding vows, and enthusiastically agrees with the idea of "Live in the now, for tomorrow may never come". But BJ points out that philosophy is completely incompatible with the coping mechanisms he's chosen to get through the war, i.e. the idea of returning home to his wife and daughter someday.
* IfYouEverDoAnythingToHurtHer: Scotty, the patient who Aggie accompanied to the 4077th, gives BJ a mild version of this, saying he "wanted to be sure you were treating her right."
* LovableSexManiac: Hawkeye embodies this, hitting on Aggie relentlessly whenever they're in the same scene, with the other characters only offering mild discouragement.
* MeaningfulEcho: When BJ is explaining to Aggie why nothing can happen between them, he describes his family as a lifeline. In TheTag the cast sees that the portrait Aggie drew of BJ has him wearing a life preserver with "Mill Valley" written on it.
* SeenItAll: Aggie's not just a war co-respondent; she's covered everything from royal coronations to sports events to Silly Putty.
* WaxingLyrical:
**The PA announcer quotes from "Night and Day" when announcing the arrival of wounded in the opening scene.
-->Attention all personnel. Through the roaring traffic's boom and the silence of your lonely room night and day you are the ones. Evac bus in the compound.
** Klinger starts singing "[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Little_Words_(song) Three Little Words]]" when he walks away from BJ and Aggie in the compound.
