Maggie Hayes, who was going to testify in a murder trial is found dead outside her hotel room. Lupo and Bernard investigate their initial suspect, the defendant. Eventually, this leads to Marcus Woll, a former prosecutor who now works as a defense attorney and has been dealing with witnesses in his trials by getting them killed.
