Bayliss and Pembleton get the case of Tanya Thomson, a young girl found beaten to death and dumped off the highway. This ends up stirring up strong feelings in Bayliss and ends up driving a wedge between himself and Pembleton. Kellerman's grand jury trial comes up, he testifies, and he ends up being cleared, but he doesn't feel vindicated at all.

!!This episode contains examples of:
* BerserkButton: Bayliss gets angry when Tanya's mother and boyfriend insist they didn't do anything wrong to Tanya.
* GoodCopBadCop: The odd thing, of course, is ''Pembleton'' is the one playing good cop to Bayliss' bad cop.
* OhNoNotAgain: This is Bayliss' response when he sees the latest murder he has to investigate is another dead girl.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Bayliss reveals he was molested by his uncle when he was younger, and when he tried to tell his father about it, his father wouldn't believe him.
* TheTell: Kellerman knows which one of his ex-colleagues in the Arson Unit didn't testify against him because they looked him in the eye afterwards.
* WhamLine: After Bayliss reveals he was molested (see RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil above):
-->'''Bayliss''': I don't think I want to be partners with you anymore, Frank.
