* RageBreakingPoint: After missing the concert with several others going instead, including Goofball, and having it rubbed in her face, Frankie cries out "THAT'S IT!" and chases Goofball down to snatch his red nose and "prove" he's not an imaginary friend.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Goofball's kid's parents end up proving Frankie's point about Goofball to Herriman when they put on fake noses and Bloo honestly believes their imaginary friends. Though Herriman himself doesn't fall for it, hinting he knew Goofball really wasn't wearing a disguise.

To quote another user "An expy is a character from one series who is unambiguously and deliberately based on a character in another, older series." They're from the same series, so it's not an example.

* {{Expy}}: Goofball is one to Bendy from "Everyone Knows It's Bendy", who was also a ridiculously malicious {{jerkass}} who was universally hated by fans for the way he ruined Bloo's life and [[KarmaHoudini got away with it]]. But Goofball gets along very well with Bloo, and instead tortures Frankie (and ''only'' Frankie).

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Herriman seemingly falling for Goofball's appearance could be a clue that he could actually tell he was imaginary after all, as when his creator and family put on the same red noses, he says it would never have been fooled if it were them.

An episode from Season 3 of ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends''.

Frankie wants to go to a rock concert she's waited about a year for, but Herriman has chained her to a very long list of chores to do and a new imaginary friend named Goofball [=McGee=] who gets in the way of Frankie completing her chores and forces her to wait on him hand and foot.

* BigEater: Goofball, who with Bloo's help, empties out the entire fridge that Frankie just recently restocked with a very hefty trip to the grocery store.
* BittersweetEnding: Frankie's lost the chance to go to the Fake-Outs concert and buy merchandise, and she's also lost all her money from Bloo (worth hundreds of dollars) but now Goofball is leaving for good.
* ButtMonkey: Frankie. You can't help but feel sorry for all the crap Goofball and Herriman put her through.
* TheDitz: Goofball, but ironically he tends to talk a lot making him a KnowNothingKnowItAll. The fact that he had a hard time remembering his own name, AND his name say so.
* EntitledBastard: Goofball's mentality is "Take care of me!" and to leech off of someone for food, laundry, housing and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking help with his geometry homework]]. He treats Frankie like a maid and forces her to do everything for him as while he lays around and has fun.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Goofball [=McGee=], who acts like an absolute EntitledBastard
* KarmaHoudini: Goofball never really faces any comeuppance for the way he treated Frankie.
* LazyBum: Goofball, as he really does nothing but play video games and eat pizza (as well as ALL the food in Foster's Home) and makes Frankie do all his laundry and his homework.
* MistakenForAnImposter: Frankie thinks that Goofball is really just a human posing as an imaginary friend.
* TheReveal: Turns out Goofball ''really is'' an imaginary friend! That clown nose was being used to conceal that he has an elephant-like trunk instead fo a genuine human nose.
* ShoutOut:
** There's one to the classic fairy tale Cinderella when Frankie is scrubbing away the floors and a bunch of imaginary mice surround her, before she shoos them away.
** One of Goofball's human friends resembles a gender-flipped version of Nazz from ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy''. Most likely intentional, since the Eds have appeared on the show before!
* TheThingThatWouldNotLeave: Goofball to Frankie.
