** The initial friction between both generations of Ghostbusters. The original team, of course, were the foundation of everything the Extreme Ghostbusters know and use. But they also don't know their predecessors and miss busting, so they unintentionally can't help sidelining the new crew (with he latter's hero worship turning to dissent and even disdain at the unintentional condescension). Egon is the only original Ghostbuster who recognizes this initially, as he's already been down this road at the beginning of the series and long since accepted that the future of Ghostbusting is with this new generation.

** According to Egon, when the original team split up, Peter left for Hollywood and had tried to get another movie made about them. "Take Two" had previously shown the guys consulting on [[Film/Ghostbusters1984 a movie]] about their adventures.

* NotSoDifferentRemark: When Kylie points out Eduardo's obvious difficulties with basic math, Peter makes him feel better by saying he was the same way in college and still went on to become a scientist.

** The Statue of Liberty confrontation in Part II. The Proton Packs are perfect for taking on smaller or individual ghosts. But S.I.D.N.E.E. is simply so large and so powerful (even more than Stay-Puft) that the Packs are basically useless. To take the entity down, they're gonna need to upgrade to ''serious'' firepower.

* TakeThatKiss: Slimer gives Peter one for berating him for eating half the birthday cake.
* WhamShot: How Peter, Ray, and Winston surprising Egon at the firehouse is played.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The Bowling Alley Bust in Part 1. Peter, Ray, and Winston may have been the Real Ghostbusters, but they're also now middle-aged, out of shape, and haven't busted any spooks for the better part of a decade. They also have trouble adjusting initially to the now-upgraded (and more powerful) Proton Packs (whereas Egon, of course, developed said upgrades with Kylie and is used to them by now).
