* AnAesop:
** Both the A and B plots critique aspects of modern-day franchise filmmaking. Executives unfamiliar with films and the filmmaking process tend to make hasty, ill-thought decisions that only hurt the finished product more. Creatives who don't understand why the property resonated with people will likewise make poor artistic decisions. And the fans need to accept that they don't "own" a franchise, and that changes can be made without sacrificing what made something work.
** Just because a reboot or remake isn't an exact copy of the original, doesn't automatically mean it's going to be bad. What matters is that they keep what made the show special in the first place.
** The actor you know and love can't be around forever. Actors are still people, after all. A replacement actor isn't necessarily a bad choice for the role just because they're not the actor you're accustomed to. Chances are they love the character and the franchise just as much as you do, and are eager to give it their all, well aware that they have big shoes to fill.
** Even if your hero doesn't turn out to be as great as you thought, their work can still be an inspiration to you.
** Attempting violence against someone because their art didn't live up to your expectations makes you the bad guy.

* RebootSnark: The episode is centered around a DarkerAndEdgier reboot film of Launchpad's favorite TV show, ''Darkwing Duck'' (a reference to the real-world ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck'' animated series). Launchpad is first excited but gets upset that the trailer doesn't fit the tone of the original, the original star is insulted that he was never involved, while the new star acknowledges that the reboot isn't perfect. However, the new star is also a huge fan of the original series and points out that his version of Darkwing may inspire some kid the way the original series inspired him. [[AnAesop The aesop]] ends up that reboots aren't automatically evil cash grabs, as long as they remember what made the show special in the first place.

* PunnyName: Boorswan's last name is pronounced identically to bourgeois which among many things can refer to stuffy, pretentious, fad-chasing tendencies. It also sounds a lot like Creator/JohnBoorman, the director of ''Film/{{Excalibur}}''. The first syllable, at least, also rhymes with Moore, as in Creator/AlanMoore, whose works ''ComicBook/{{Watchmen}}'' and ''ComicBook/TheKillingJoke'' are often attributed with helping usher in UsefulNotes/TheDarkAgeOfComicBooks.

* TemptingFate: When the two guards are looking for Jim, they wonder out loud how hard can it be to find someone dressed like he is. Cue Dewey walking by along with several dancers, all of them dressed like Darkwing, thus allowing Jim to briefly blend in with the crowd and [[JustForPun catch the guards off guard]].

'''Launchpad:''' ''(smirking)'' [[CatchPhrase [[CharacterCatchphrase Dangerous?]]\\

** In the original, DW's CatchPhrase for his bursts of heroism/competence originally came from his response to Launchpad in [[Recap/DarkwingDuckS1E1DarklyDawnsTheDuck "Darkly Dawns The Duck"]] saying "I don't know, DW, that sounds dangerous!" Here, Drake says nearly the same thing to Launchpad, with Launchpad merely saying the last word with emphasis to inspire Drake to take action.

* FriendlyEnemy: Justified as Launchpad already got off friendly with Drake and is reluctantly convinced by Jim to help him dethrone him, so when Drake and Launchpad fight in the former's trailer, Drake urges Launchpad to be careful and avoid his Darkwing Duck merch, spending more time gawking over it than fighting. The next scene, they've stopped fighting entirely and Launchpad eventually sides with Drake after learning his backstory.

* GoodCounterpart: Jim Starling, the original actor for Darkwing Duck, cares more about his own fame than actually being a good guy. Drake Mallard, the new actor, wants to inspire the next generation as Jim did for his own. As the episode goes on, the moral divide between both Darkwings widens, with Drake eventually becoming Darkwing Duck for real and Jim becoming Negaduck.

* LetsGetDangerous: In true Darkwing fashion, Drake and Launchpad step up when it matters most.

Added DiffLines:

*** When Launchpad questions the morality of the plan, Jim asks Launchpad what does Darkwing Duck do when the chips are down? Launchpad responds "Gets back up and fights for what's right." In the climactic battle, Jim's replacement is constantly beaten down, but keeps getting back up. The fact that Jim is astonished by this behavior clues in to just *which* of them is the *real* Darkwing...

Added DiffLines:

*** In the climactic battle, when Drake and Launchpad repeat Darkwing's catchphrase "Let's Get Dangerous," Drake talks about how it "Feels so right." Another clue that *he* is the true Darkwing of this universe.
