* {{Blooper}}: When Dagur runs into the other Dragon Riders, Snotlout is shown with them, despite the fact that he already left with Heather on reconnaissance and is later shown returning with her.

Added DiffLines:

* PersonOfMassDestruction: Dagur manages to destroy the entire fleet, with only a ''Gronkle''. It's a good thing he never became a dragon rider when he was still a bad guy (or trained a much more deadly dragon, such as the Skrill).

Similarities does not make one based on the others - the episodes' plots are far too different for this example to work.

* WholePlotReference: It's the ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' episode [[Recap/AvatarTheLastAirbenderTheWesternAirTemple "The Western Air Temple"]] with a tragic ending. The dialogue in several scenes (Hiccup telling the others about how Dagur once saved him but failing to convince them, Astrid threatening to kill him if he turns out to be a traitor, and especially Heather (given her [[Creator/MaeWhitman voice actress]]) insisting they can't trust him) sounds like paraphrasing of scenes between Team Avatar and TurnCoat Zuko.

* AesopAmnesia: Hiccup and the other riders really have no excuse for falling for Viggo's trap -- making the heroes believe he's up to something by staging something completely fake and ambushing them when they come in to stop it -- as it's just a larger-scale version of Dagur's fake superweapon trick in "[[Recap/DragonsRidersOfBerkS2E12TheFlightStuff The Flight Stuff]]" three seasons ago. No wonder Dagur was able to see through it so easily!
** Partially subverted - Hiccup mentions that he had scouted out the base repeatedly over a period of several weeks. While he should have been suspicious, he had good reason to assume that it wasn't a trap.

Trying to get it not be displayed as "Dead Woman Writing," since it is actually IS a dead man writing, in this case.

* HeroicSacrifice: Dagur discovers Hiccup's plan to attack Viggo's shipyard. Having worked with Viggo, Dagur can tell it's a trap, but the riders refuse to believe him, so Dagur launches his own attack first and triggers the trap himself, seemingly being killed in the process.
* LickedByTheDog: Dagur bonds extremely quickly with his dragon Shattermaster. That and the fact that Toothless lets Dagur ride him make Hiccup think he should at least try to trust Dagur.
* NeverFoundTheBody: Dagur.
