Written by Gareth Roberts. The penultimate episode of the 2011 ''Series/DoctorWho'' season. It is a SequelEpisode to the 2010 episode "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS31E11TheLodger The Lodger]]", bringing back Craig and Sophie.

** The Doctor asking if Craig named the baby after him is reminiscent of when [[Recap/DoctorWhoS30E13JourneysEnd Jackie Tyler told the Meta-Crisis Doctor that she didn't name her baby boy "the Doctor"]].

** The Doctor has also made the observation "Not a rat; a Cybermat" [[Recap/DoctorWhoS12E5RevengeOfTheCybermen at least once before]].

** ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory3'' and [[WesternAnimation/{{Cars}} Lightning McQueen]] Lego can be seen over the Doctor's shoulder in the toy shop.

* AccidentalPervert: Craig comes off this way in the lingerie department, resulting in Kelly calling security on him. The Doctor accidentally opens the curtain on an occupied stall in the changing room (he recommends she choose the red one).

* AmbiguousSituation: The origins of the Cybermen in this episode are completely unexplored. [[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E7AGoodManGoesToWar Like the Twelfth Cyber Legion shown earlier in Series 6]], they reuse the 2006 "Pete's World" props but lack the Cybus logo on their chests. [[Recap/DoctorWhoS36E12TheDoctorFalls With the much later revelation]] that Cybermen have multiple origins among countless civilisations thanks to parallel evolution plus the fact that the Cybermen are [[PlotIrrelevantVillain not the main focus of the episode]], [[MST3KMantra it's likely not too important to worry about.]]

* AwesomeMcCoolname: Craig's baby prefers "'''Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All'''" to "Alfie".

* BlackDudeDiesFirst: The first two innocent deaths are black people -- Shona and George.

* BreatherEpisode: Quite light and fluffy in comparison to the last two episodes. The breather ends ''before'' the episode itself ends.

* CallBack: Amy's perfume being advertised in the store is called "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E4TheDoctorsWife Petrichor]]" -- [[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E10TheGirlWhoWaited for the girl who's]] [[Recap/DoctorWhoS31E1TheEleventhHour tired of waiting]]. We wonder if it smells of dust after rain?
* CallForward: We see how the Doctor got the Stetson and envelopes he used in "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E1TheImpossibleAstronaut The Impossible Astronaut]]". ItWasAGift.

* CaptainErsatz: Subverted, as the blonde department store worker to whom the Doctor frequently explains the situation only gives him a blank stare in response. Guess she's ''not'' Rose after all!

* CharmPerson: Craig is certain the Doctor has this power because everyone loves him. It's pheromones or something. Specifically, telling anyone to hush and them doing it.

* ConservationOfNinjutsu: In "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E7AGoodManGoesToWar A Good Man Goes to War]]", the Doctor and Rory are able to destroy the whole of the Twelfth Cyber Legion in the first five minutes. In this episode, six Cybermen are able to almost defeat the Doctor, kill Craig and assimilate the whole planet -- and are given the full forty minutes to do it. However, in the earlier story, the Cybermen were not expecting the Doctor and Rory to ambush them. The Cybermen in this episode have had ages to prepare for the assimilation of Earth. More to the point, the Doctor ''didn't'' have any time to prepare. Undoubtedly he went into the Cyber Legion with all his resources amassed and a plan in hand; this time he was, as is more usual, working on the fly.

** The Doctor asking if Craig named the baby after him is reminiscent of when [[Recap/DoctorWhoS30E13JourneysEnd Jackie Tyler told him that she didn't name her baby boy "the Doctor"]].
** The Doctor ''still'' hasn't figured out that [[Recap/DoctorWhoS31E11TheLodger air-kissing isn't a normal way to greet people in this era]].

* CutenessProximity:
** Not even the Doctor is immune to babies. Of course, being [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} the Doctor]], his inanity is still more profound than most.
** The Cybermat is kind of cute, until it inspires Craig to say:

* DidYouActuallyBelieve: Madame Kovarian revealing that the Silence have ''always'' known where River was.

* EyepatchOfPower:
** The Doctor wears a jeweller's loupe.
** Madame Kovarian makes another appearance.
* FakeOutMakeOut: The Doctor tries one with Craig. Craig dodges. In a inverted twist, the one the Doctor was trying to fake out was ''Craig'', to keep him from looking around.

* HappilyMarried: Craig and Sophie are a strange case. From all appearances (loving relationship, living together, raising a child) they are married, but they're not ''officially'' married. They talked about it and decided it was "just a piece of paper".

* HiddenDepths: Craig, BumblingDad and chubby FirstGirlWins, is immediately chosen as the new Cyber-Leader. He immediately destroys the Cybermen through ThePowerOfLove.

* TheILoveYouStigma: Notable as the first and ''only'' episode to date in which the Doctor directly says "I love you" to a companion, in this case Craig (who is officially identified in dialogue as the Doctor's companion). However, the scene is played for laughs and established as being a distraction more than a genuine expression of feelings.

* InformedAbility: Six Cybermen being able to conquer the planet is ''not'' consistent with what we've seen. Bad guys aren't known for their humility.

** If the Doctor's translation is accurate, [[AwesomeMcCoolname "Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All"]] would also be a good candidate. (Seriously, "Stormageddon"?)

* MadeOfExplodium: The cybership blows up as soon as Craig loves the Cybermen to death.

* NoNameGiven: The Doctor, as usual, but this makes a joke out of it by having him get a job at a shop with the name "The Doctor". He even gets a nametag, and everyone in the shop calls him "The Doctor".

* PapaWolf: Craig eventually awakens those parternal instincts and destroys Cybermen for his son.
* PetTheDog: The Doctor really loves his companions.

* ThePowerOfLove: Craig isn't turned into a Cyberman because he hears Alfie crying. [[LampshadeHanging The Doctor tries to explain that's really overly sentimental; it was the Power of the Human Instinct to Protect Their Own Genes... okay, it's Love.]]

* ShapedLikeItself: It's a ''sonic'' screwdriver; of ''course'' it doesn't have a quiet mode!

** Sophie knocks... on her own door (she ''always'' forgets her keys) and by the time Craig has turned back, the Doctor has once again disappeared.
* StealthInsult: The Doctor stating that the "Shhh" trick only works on underdeveloped brains... moments before he uses it on Craig. Also, the "Shhh" trick is only supposed to work once on someone. The Doctor uses it numerous times on Craig.

* TemptingFate: Heh, you're right, Craig, the Cybermat ''is'' kinda cu-- [[KillerRabbit OH GOD TEETH]].

* CallForward: We see how the Doctor got the [[NiceHat Stetson]] and envelopes he used in "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E1TheImpossibleAstronaut The Impossible Astronaut]]". ItWasAGift.

* NiceHat: When the Doctor says he is going to America, Craig gives him the Stetson as a parting gift. Stetsons are cool.

Craig now lives in a nice big house with his girlfriend Sophie and their baby boy Alfie. Sophie is going to NotImportantToThisEpisodeCamp for the weekend, leaving the baby with Craig. And although Craig insists he can be responsible, several of Sophie's friends and family call to check up on him, leaving him feeling quite unsure of himself as a father.

* NotImportantToThisEpisodeCamp: Sophie's gone off for a "girls' weekend" with a friend of hers.

* {{Adorkable}}: Craig with his fatherly bumbling and comical failure to investigate.

* BiTheWay: The Doctor once again shows how, [[Literature/EighthDoctorAdventures ever since 1997]], the ''Series/DoctorWho'' writers all collectively refuse to write him as straight. He sees nothing special about trying a FakeOutMakeOut on Craig and doesn't stop to consider that Craig may have some hang-ups (though in reality he's only pretending to distract Craig from seeing something ''much'' worse behind him). It's lampshaded throughout this episode.
