!! Tropes in this episode include:

* BlackComedy: This episode's challenge sometimes indulges in this, with the most notable examples being Tess confessing that she made her previous psychologist having to go to the psychologist, and Yul admiting that he forced his ex-girlfriend to have plastic surgery and then broke up with her because she did it wrong.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Some of the secrets revealed imply it for some of the contestants.
** Krystal reveals that Tess is an orphan.
** She also reveals that Yul and his family are North Korean defectors.
** She also uncovers that Rosa Maria doesn't know who is the father of her daughter and that she considered getting an abortion. Earlier, Rosa also admited that she shoplifted before, stating that "a mother would do anything for her children".
* ItAmusedMe: When Rosa points out that she doesn't think that a challenge consisting on people admiting embarrassing secrets is funny, Krystal admits that for her, it definetely is.
* ShoutOut: This episode is a homage to the ''Total Drama'' episode "Truth or Laser Shark", from the ''Revenge of the Island'' season, also featuring a challenge where the contestants have to admit that embarrassing secrets belong to them in order to get points for their team. The teams are also submerged for refusing to admit a secret, and it's even heavily implied the seats used for the challenge are the same ones used in ''Total Drama''. Like in the ''Total Drama'' episode, the teams also try to sabotage the challenge when they feel that it is getting out of hand.
* VirginShaming: Yul calls Aiden and Lake "virgins" when it's revealed that they actually had their first kiss during the previous episode's challenge (with James and Ally, respectively).
