[[caption-width-right:350:'''Evie:''' <Player's Name>, we have an emergency! It's Charlie! He got into a fight with the Luddites! They're about to beat him up!]]

Maddie, Charlie, and the player decide to make a visit to the Inventor's Hall to make sure the displayed World Exhibition inventions haven't been tampered with by the saboteur running amok. There they don't find any signs of machines being sabotaged, instead stumbling onto the body of Luddite Arnold Nottingham electrocuted to death.

!!Tropes:
*AccidentalMurder: Susie claims that she didn't actually intend to kill her father, but they got in a heated discussion when he caught her in the Inventor's Hall and, in a fit of rage, she used the electric weapon against him without thinking. For this, Judge Takakura decides to give her a pretty lenient sentence of 7 years.
*AmbiguouslyEvil: During the Additional Investigation, you discover that all of the sabotaged inventions were the ones with a high probability to win against Stanley Spark's Exo-Suit, putting him on the Flying Squad and Justin's sight as the one with the highest chance of being the saboteur.
*BlameGame: Celine can't help but blame the Flying Squad about the saboteur getting away with sabotaging the World Exhibition's inventions, even saying it's their fault that she had to resort to build a BoobyTrap against the Luddites.
*BoobyTrap: Celine built a non-lethal (although still shocking) explosive device and planted it where the Luddites tend to hang out to scare them since they wouldn't stop discriminating her for being an inventor and a woman. Unfortunately, the one who ended up activating the device wasn't a Luddite, but Chief Halsted instead.
*BoulderBludgeon: The Luddites throw rocks at Charlie during their argument while trying to convince them that technology isn't evil.
*CallBack: [[Recap/CriminalCaseMysteriesOfThePastCase14Checkmate Celine Georges, Stanley Spark]], and [[Recap/CriminalCaseMysteriesOfThePastCase15OutOfSteam Leopold Rochester]] reappear as suspects. [[Recap/CriminalCaseMysteriesOfThePastCase16MonkeyBusiness Katherine Woolf]] also reappears during the Additional Investigation.
*ICanStillFight: Charlie says this after getting pulled out of a fight with the Luddites by Maddie.
-->'''Charlie:''' These Luddites! Let me get back at them! They want to fight?! I'll show them a fight!
*ChocolateOfRomance: This is how it's revealed that Charlie and Susie were in a relationship, as you find a box of chocolates Charlie gifted to her.
*{{Cliffhanger}}: The case ends with the World Exhibition's grand prize ceremony being close to beginning, which means the saboteur might make its final move on that fateful night.
*ContinuityNod:
**A now finished [[Recap/CriminalCaseMysteriesOfThePastCase13BreakingTheGlassCeiling Crystal Palace]] reappears as a crime scene, which is where the Inventor's Hall is located.
**During the Additional Investigation, Maddie learns that [[Recap/CriminalCaseMysteriesOfThePastCase11ThatSinkingFeeling the Gigantic has sunk]].
*GadgeteerGenius: Susie Nottingham, the killer, is secretly this, as she learned how to be an inventor due to hearing other inventors talking about their work in the cafe she works in. She even designed and built the murder weapon, something that her father greatly disapproved.
*GuestStarPartyMember: Once again, Diego performs an analysis for the Flying Squad in this case while being their unofficial consultant.
*HighVoltageDeath: How the victim was killed, courtesy of a [[StunGuns Stun Gun]] created by his own daughter.
*LocalHangout: The Brass Compass, a local cafe in Century Mile where most of the inventors like to hang out and discuss about their projects.
*LuddWasRight: When you inform Susie about her father's death in the Inventor's Hall, she tearfully recalls how her father always warned her about inventors and progress and even says he was right. Of course, this is just part of her WoundedGazelleGambit to hide the fact that she's the killer.
*MaliciousSlander: Stanley says that the victim's claims of him exploring his workers and being a MeanBoss were attempts at soiling his name, which makes Maddie assume Stanley killed him to protect his name.
*INeedAFreakingDrink: After Maddie recaps what you know about the case in Chapter 2 (which includes the fact that Charlie is a suspect], she says that a glass of absinthe would be good right now.
*NotProven: Despite the fact that the charts show all of the sabotaged inventions were the ones with the highest chance of beating Stanley's Exo-Suit, the lack of proof of his involvement in the sabotage makes it impossible for the Squad and Justin to arrest him.
*ObfuscatingStupidity: Susie pretends to know nothing about mechanics and what inventors talk about in The Brass Compass, but she's actually a skillful GadgeteerGenius who managed to build a fully functional electric weapon by only listening to what the clients babbled about.
*OneOfOurOwn: Charlie becomes a suspect in this case after being caught arguing with the Luddites and showing extremely hated of them.
*{{Patricide}}: The victim was killed by Susie, his own daughter.
*PeaceConference: Leopold attempted to organize one with Arnold since he was one of the most vocal Luddites of the bunch and wanted to show him that technology advancing was a good thing, although he never attended it.
*RemovingTheRival: The saboteur's ultimate goals seems to be removing every invention that might get in the way of Stanley's Exo-Suit winning, which naturally makes everyone assume Stanley is the one sabotaging the event.
*ShipTease: In addition to Maddie being preoccupied about the fact that Charlie is a suspect, she kisses him in the cheek after Charlie finds her cousin Rose and her baby survived the ''Gigantic'' sinking, making both of them blush.
*ShoutOut: UsefulNotes/SigmundFreud is mentioned.
*SmoochOfVictory: Maddie kisses Charlie in the cheek to thank him for confirming that her cousin survived the ''Gigantic'' sinking.
*SpeakIllOfTheDead: Both Celine and Stanley do this regarding the victim, showing gratitude about the fact that he died. {{Justified}}, though, as he was one of the Luddites against their inventions who also discriminated Celine for being a woman and tried to slander Stanley and his company.
*WitchHunt: Both Stanley and Celine have started one of these towards the saboteur, Celine doing her own investigation and making her own notes while Stanley has been putting announcements offering a reward if the saboteur is captured.
*WoundedGazelleGambit: Susie cries during both of her interrogations due to her father's death despite being his killer, although it's implied that she truly regrets killing him and her tears are genuine.
