* MundaneUtility: The episode starts with Isaac's night creature horde burying dead bodies too rotted to be used to make more night creatures while also making repairs to the town. When the talking night creature asks why Isaac is using night creatures -- magical entities created to kill and destroy -- in such a constructive way, Isaac argues that night creatures are to be meant as tools as much as they are weapons, and that he believes that the town could be reinhabited at some point in the future.

* BadassNormal: While the army of farmers and peasants are ultimately wiped out by Striga and her soldiers. They still managed to pull of a very ballsy and pretty sound plan of ambushing the vampires during daylight. Cutting open their tents so that the sunlight will kill them and hold their ground fighting the soldiers before ultimately losing the fight once Striga joins in. This act is one of the reasons that Striga realizes that while she and her soldiers ''are'' strong enough to face any opposition, the humans will still rise up and give the vampires an uphill battle.

* While it seemed like a good idea at the time, Striga and Morana start regretting their agreement into Carmilla's campaign to conquer Europe, citing the sheer strenuous task of not only fighting an uphill battle against the rest of the world -- both soldiers and ordinary people who take it upon themselves to defend their lands -- as well as the arduous and never-ending task of preserving and providing for such an occupation.
