* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: Despite being TheDragon to Khan who showed all signs of being loyal to his boss and [[ProperlyParanoid rightfully warning him Michael isn't to be trusted]], once Khan is convinced by the FrameUp that Lee is responsible for stealing his money and pulls a gun on him while ranting that he should have known what happens to people who steal from him, it's notably Lee that shoots first in the ensuing MutualKill.

* NotSoStoic: Lee spends most of the episode being much calmer than his boss, but when Jesse rattles off his bank account number, he quickly descends into angry screaming and lunging at Jesse to call him a liar.

* ProperlyParanoid: Lee is openly skeptical of Michael claiming he wants to help Khan catch Jesse, especially given how Mike keeps turning up uninvited.
* PublicSecretMessage: Michael manages to pass two key pieces of information to Jesse during the torture session at the end. First, that the bank is in Antigua (where "Aunt Kathy" lived) and the account number (the article's index number).

uninvited. Luckily for Team Westen, Khan is too obsessed with getting Jesse to really care.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor:
** When Vaughn calls for an update, Michael can only say Jesse ran off and asks if he can provide any intel or resources in tracking him down. Vaughn reminds Michael that that's his job and that he asked to be running the show.
** When Fiona complains about being tasked with giving Jesse a place to stay, Michael reminds her of what she herself said at the park about how the guy needs someone to watch his back. Fi is quite displeased to hear this.
* BerserkButton: People stealing his money is a serious one for Khan. He hunts Jesse and tortures him for that reason. He's also quick to turn on Lee once the FrameUp is pulled off.
* TheDragon: Lee to Khan, being the more level-headed second-in-command type.
* EngineeredHeroics: The plan to get Khan to trust Michael involves Jesse staging an attack on Khan's compound, with Mike quickly riding to the rescue. Jesse deviates from the plan by going onto the property instead of staying outside the fence, but it works.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: While moving to America, Khan tried to transfer his money. Jesse says Chinese agents intercepted the cash, but Khan firmly believes that he was the one who stole it.
* FailedASpotCheck: Averted. When locking up, Michael always has the logo on his lock faced in. It being faced out when he returns to the loft tips him off that someone is trying to get the drop on him, so he pulls a little distraction to turn the tables.
* FalseReassurance: After Khan is shot and bleeding on the floor, Michael tells a mook he's seen such a wound before and says he'll survive so long as he gets to a hospital. What Michael neglected to mention is that those who previously suffered such a wound died after five minutes.
* FiveSecondForeshadowing: The day after Khan and Lee get arrested, Michael keeps trying to get in touch with Jesse, but no one picks up. Fiona thinks it's nothing to worry about, but then Mike gets a call from the newly released Khan (who reports Jesse let his guard down).
* FrameUp: After Jesse is captured, Michael says the only way to get him out of this is make it look like Lee stole Khan's money. With Lee being so involved in Khan's dealings, Mike just needs a little Barry magic to get the needed financial information and to covertly relay that to Jesse during the interrogation.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: According to Jesse, people in intelligence circles still discuss Michael's burned status. Mike actually does have his share of defenders, but also a lot of people who think he should've been shot outright. (Jesse prefers not to answer when asked which side he was on.)
* HopeSpot: After the car crash, Khan and Lee get busted by the cops and are found to have assorted guns in the trunk. However, Khan was able to call in a big favor that allowed for a release, and he was able to get the drop on Jesse at the old apartment.

* MissingMom: On the subject of her Saint Christopher medal, Jesse alludes to how his mother was killed.
* MutualKill: When Lee is successfully framed for stealing the money, Khan pulls a gun on him. Lee fires first and is then hit in response. Lee passes out quickly, while Michael says that Khan's wound means only minutes left.
* PragmaticVillainy: Khan initially shipped drugs, but to evade Asian authorities, he became a government informant and got to enjoy a lavish life in exchange for ratting on his old associates and acquaintances.
* ProperlyParanoid: Lee is openly skeptical of Michael claiming he wants to help Khan catch Jesse, especially given how Mike keeps turning up uninvited.

to:

* RaceAgainstTheClock: In the end, Michael wants to take his time with prodding Jesse for information, feeling that pushing too hard could wreck the whole effort. Vaughn reminds him that time is limited and that he'd better get results sooner rather than later.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: Jesse knows a burned spy like Michael could've only survived this long with help that prefers not to draw attention, but he's thinking in terms of a legitimate figure in the government. Suffice to say, he can't even begin to imagine the type of organization that's kept Michael's old enemies at bay.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Jesse reveals to Fiona that he used to do field work, but he got transferred to counter-intelligence because of his tendency to just jump into action whenever he saw some random innocent getting mistreated.
* SelfServingMemory: When Michael says he can relate to Jesse's current situation.
-->'''Fiona:''' Except Jesse didn't wake up next to someone who had his back like you did.\\
'''Michael:''' As I recall, I woke up because "somebody" kicked me!
* SeriousBusiness: Fiona is getting rather sick of having to put up "strays" any time Michael needs a stash house. She outright threatens to kill Michael should her linens be wrecked again.
* ShoutOut: [[Creator/VinceVaughn Sam mistakes Vaughn's name as Vince]].Vince]].
* StatingTheSimpleSolution: Unsurprisingly, Fiona feels the best way to solve Jesse's Khan problem is to shoot Khan. Jesse actually agrees with this, but he says Khan has powerful friends who would avenge him in short order.
* TragicKeepsake: Jesse knew it was risky going back to his apartment so soon after Khan was arrested, but he wanted to get back the Saint Christopher's medal that belonged to his dead mother.
* WildCard: Jesse is perfectly fine with teaming up with Michael to achieve some common goals, but he also demonstrates during the compound attack that he's also perfectly fine with deviating from a set plan to do things his preferred way. This does not endear him to Sam, who bemoans how counter-intelligence types tend to be lone wolves that don't work well with others.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: Jesse meets up with an old colleague, Fred, to discuss his situation, only to learn the guy was blackmailed into baiting him into Khan's trap.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: According to Michael, not long after Jesse escaped the trap at the park, a body was found a mile away from there. Sam muses it was Fred and that the guy's usefulness had ended once Jesse learned he could no longer trust him.
