!!!Chapter 44: Rival Rematch
Kunigami enters the 2nd stage 3-man-team forming room after completing his 1st stage 100 goal test. Amongst all the other waiting strikers, Kunigami finds Chigiri having also passed the test. Chigiri then reveals to Kunigami how he heard from the others that Isagi and Bachira went on ahead without them by forming a 3-man-team with Nagi. Kunigami and Chigiri both feel irritated that they've been left behind, which they decide to team up.

Meanwhile in the 3rd stage room where the Isagi/Bachira/Nagi and Rin/Aryu/Tokimitsu teams are waiting, Ego goes about explaining the rules of the Second Selection's 2nd to 5th stages to them. Starting in the 3rd stage as a 3-man-team, the goal is to play matches in order to reach the Second Selection's 5th stage. Blue Lock Man will act as their goalies, and winning teams will get to steal a player away from the losing team, which they get to the 4th stage with 4 players, and then they pass the Second Selection by reaching 5th stage finish line with 5 players. However, losing a player sends a team back a stage, and teams reduced to 2 players drops back down to the 2nd stage. If teams are reduced to just 1 player, that person gets kicked out of Blue Lock. Ego notes how the design of this test is best described as a "rivalry battle" where teams rob rivals to then become teammates. He also assures that teams aren't forced to play each other. That matches will only happen if both teams agree to face each other.

Isagi's team realizes that they can just wait to face another team rather than face off right now against Rin's team, which Nagi notes that they should still face strong teams in order to steal away their strongest player. Ego then provides the new Blue Lock rankings, which is in the order of who completed the 100 goal test the fastest. Isagi is now Rank 15, Bachira is Rank 16, and Nagi is Rank 7. Ego then points out that the survivors who are able to make chemical reactions with one another's egos will be the ones who are able to complete the Second Selection. He orders them to do anything to win, and then disappears from the television. Isagi, Bachira and Nagi discuss if they should wait it out, or battle Rin's team right away. They look to Rin's team, which they see that Aoshi Tokimitsu (Rank 3) is an extremely negative person where he's always nervous and worrying about how he will do in Blue Lock. Meanwhile, Jyubei Aryu (Rank 2) is a pretty boy who only appreciates things that are stylish and beautiful. Finally, Rin (Rank 1) thinks nothing of his teammates, and just sees them as pieces he needs to reach the next stage.

Isagi's team is left unimpressed by the poor teamwork seen in Rin's team, which Rin explains how Tokimitsu and Aryu just ended up as his teammates since they were the first 3 to complete the 100 goal test. Rin further explains that he will use Blue Lock to make it onto Japan's U-20 pro team in order to face off against his brother, Sai Itoshi, which his goal is to crush him. Thus, showing that Rin has bad blood with Sai. Confirming that Rin is the younger brother of the great midfielder, Sai, Isagi's ego kicks in, and steps before Rin to challenge the latter's team to a 3v3 match. Bachira and Nagi agreeing that they were thinking the same thing. Isagi thinks over that he wants Rin for his team, which Rin accepts the challenge. The match is set up with the Isagi/Bachira/Nagi and Rin/Aryu/Tokimitsu teams making their way onto 3rd stage football field, which their 3v3 match is about to begin.

!!!Chapter 45: Death Match
After being reminded of the rules, the 3v3 match between the Isagi/Bachira/Nagi and Rin/Aryu/Tokimitsu teams begins on the 3rd stage football mini-field. Isagi remains hyped up to take on Blue Lock's top-3 players with his aim being to steal away Rin. The game begins with Team Isagi starting with the ball. Isagi and Bachira pass to one another, which Bachira breaks free after dribbling past Tokimitsu. As Rin watches the opposing offensive push play out, Bachira sends a pass towards Nagi in front of Team Rin's goal. Aryu standing as the last line of defense to block Nagi. However, Nagi passes it to Isagi, who's running free in front of the goal. Thanks to his positioning and impact point training from the 100 goal test, Isagi lands a direct shot in the net to put his team up '''1-0'''.

Team Isagi celebrates the goal, which Bachira and Nagi can tell that Isagi improved his direct shot. Despite that, Rin is left unimpressed by the lukewarm play of Team Isagi, and their inability to realize that football isn't just a sport, but a battlefield. As a result, once Team Rin takes position on offense, Rin immediately sends a long kick to the opposing net from the starting half-field kick off to quickly tie the game back up '''1-1''', which amazes everyone. Rin remains unimpressed, and orders everyone to get it over with so that he can move on, which gets on Isagi's nerve arguing that just like Rin, he's fighting at Blue Lock for the sake of his dream. However, Rin points out that he views football as more of a deathmatch than a dream, which everyone can't believe what they're hearing. As Team Isagi get the ball for their next offensive push, Rin orders them to hurry up so that he can end their lukewarm play as soon as possible. In return, Isagi gets hyped up to take part in Rin's "deathmatch."

!!!Chapter 46: Top 3
Team Isagi starts their next offensive push determined to get back at Rin for his comment on them being lukewarm. Bachira sends a pass to Nagi in front of the goal only for Aryu to hit it away with a header this time thanks to his long legs giving him a height that's even higher than Nagi, who's one of Blue Lock's taller players. Team Rin has successfully stolen the ball with Aryu's header sending the ball to Tokimitsu. As Aryu runs down field, Bachira makes it in time to partially block Tokimitsu's pass that he was sending to Aryu. Thanks to Bachira ruining the pass, Isagi manages to reach the loose ball in front of his team's goal. However, as Aryu marks Isagi defensively, his long legs allows him to reach in, and kick the ball away from Isagi to send it into the goal; putting Team Isagi down '''1-2'''. Isagi realizing that Aryu's weapons is his insanely long legs giving him incredible reach and jumping power.

Getting the ball back for their next attempt on offense, Bachira leads the charge ready to dribble on past Tokimitsu. It's at this point that Tokimitsu's negative persona kicks in as he starts to get overly nervous and worries that despite all the work he's put in so far, he will be deemed a worthless person if they lose. Thus, he charges at Bachira claiming that he's sick of his negativity, and wants to be confident. Despite Bachira passing by him, Tokimitsu's able to quickly catch up with an immediate turn back thanks to his strongly built body, and even manages to steal the ball away from Bachira thanks to his strong defensive play. Tokimitsu then charges towards the goal, and has enough dribble skill to pass Isagi. In an effort to stop Tokimitsu, Isagi goes for the foul by trying to grab hold of him. However, Tokimitsu turns out to be too strong, and easily breaks free. Isagi realizing that Tokimitsu's weapon is his immense strength and stamina as Tokimitsu is free to kick the ball into the net. Now in a '''1-3''' hole, Isagi believes he now understands why Aryu and Tokimitsu were given their respective 2nd and 3rd Ranks.

Isagi spirit begins to break as he realizes that despite him, Bachira and Nagi not making any mistakes playing as a team, they're being overwhelmed by the top-3 just playing individually. Isagi feels like they're going to lose only for Nagi to point out how interesting football is that there's other unique players out there. Nagi then reminds Isagi that it's thanks to the latter that he's now seeing things differently, and then assures Isagi that he will make things more interesting from here on out.

!!!Chapter 47: Chemical Reaction
Before their next attempt on offense, Team Isagi holds a strategy meeting explained by Nagi, which Isagi and Bachira agree to follow along with Nagi's plan. Isagi then points out how odd it is that Nagi's the one coming up with an idea, which Nagi states that it's from him feeling frustrated, and that things are only fun if he wins. After the meeting, they begin their next push on offense. Rin, Aryu and Tokimitsu marking Isagi, Nagi, and Bachira respectively on defense. In order to push forward, Team Isagi follows Nagi's plan by passing between one another in a triangle formation with Bachira as the anchor that sends passes to Isagi and Nagi. They repeat the triangle formation passes until Isagi breaks free to run in front of the goal. However, Rin immediately catches up on defense, and calls Isagi lukewarm for thinking that the former wouldn't notice the same low-level scenery that Isagi was going for.

Due to Isagi being blocked off by Rin, Bachira instead sends the crucial pass to Nagi in front of the goal, which Bachira gives the pass a high spin to make it hard to receive or steal. Nagi gets what Bachira's going for, and instead taps the spinning ball up so that the pass continues on over him, which the ball hops over himself and Aryu. The move catches Aryu off-guard as Nagi passes by the former, and then kicks Bachira's pass into the net for the score to make it a '''2-3''' game. As Bachira celebrates what Nagi pulled off, Isagi realizes that his teammates pulled off what Ego's looking for. That Nagi and Bachira formed a chemical reaction to make that goal happen. Isagi joins their celebration, which Nagi explains how this was the first time he had to think over how to receive a pass since a tough pass from Bachira was nothing like the easy ones that Reo used to give him.

As Team Isagi feel like they got their momentum back, Rin stands with the ball again for his team's next turn on offense, which he remains annoyed that his opponents are still not taking the battlefield seriously. Just like how he scored the first goal, Rin sends another long range shot at the opposing net from the half-field kick off; claiming that he's staking his life on everything at Blue Lock. However, Isagi makes it back to the net in time, and knocks the ball out-of-bounds with a header before the ball goes in, which surprises Rin. Believing in his spatial awareness weapon to control the field, and being able to sense where the most danger will be, Isagi sends Rin's lukewarm comment back at the latter. Isagi calling out Rin for thinking that the former can't see the same football scenery as the latter, which catches Rin's attention.

!!!Chapter 48: The Beauty of That Parabola
Isagi feels hyped believing that he has all the specs of the top-3 now in order to to defeat them. Everyone then gets into position in front of Team Isagi's goal for the corner kick after Isagi's header knocked the ball out-of-bounds. Rin moves to perform the corner kick while Nagi and Bachira guard Aryu and Tokimitsu respectively. This leaves Isagi on his own in front of the goal in the spot that he believes will provide the best defense if either Aryu or Tokimitsu is passed the ball. To everyone's shock however, Rin proceeds to kick a long shot into the net from the corner kick, which puts Team Isagi down '''2-4'''. Unable to make sense if guarding the spot where Rin scored would have been better than blocking the pass openings to Aryu or Tokimitsu, Team Isagi goes back on offense. Team Isagi utilizing the same triangle passing formation that got them down the field that led to their previous score.

Isagi remains determined to be the one that pulls off a chemical reaction with Bachira this time around. However, Rin guarding him remains unimpressed that Isagi's passing it around, and challenges Isagi to take him on as a striker. Not liking Rin looking down on him, Isagi calls out to Bachira to pass it to him. Bachira does so, but as Isagi moves to bypass Rin to make it to the spot that Bachira's pass will land, Rin remains unimpressed being able to see what Isagi's going for, and calls Isagi trash for not understanding how eyeballs work. Sure enough, Rin's able to easily get ahead and steal Bachira's pass away, which stuns Isagi as he's unable to understand how Rin predicted where he would go. As Rin pushes down field, the chasing Isagi can't help but wonder if he was being dragged around by Rin the whole time. Isagi calls out to Nagi and Bachira to stop Rin, but the latter easily dribbles by the two of them, which leaves Rin open in front of Team Isagi's goal. Isagi's then forced to watch as Rin kicks a beautiful goal that ends the game as a '''2-5''' loss. With the game over, Team Isagi waits in anticipation for who will get stolen away.
