* BigDamnHeroes: TheTeaser shows that no matter the place or the time period, heroes always show up to foil the given villain's plot and save the civilians.
* BreakOutTheMuseumPiece: With his own gadgets proving useless against the Faceless Hunter, Batman resorts to trying the gear from his RoguesGallery that he had on display in the Batcave.

* Foreshadowing: Unlike every other hero and villain on the show, the Faceless Hunter finds Bwana’s power to create MixAndMatchCritters impressive. This leads into the Cliffhanger.

to:

* Foreshadowing: CreepyMonotone: The civilians with spores on their faces just repeat "Starro lives!" over and over again in this tone. Vixen has a slightly larger vocabulary, but still the monotone style.
* DarkestHour: Starro is about to arrive, and most of Earth's heroes are among those under his control. Batman only has a handful of allies left to face the invasion.
* EvilDetectingDog: After chasing Booster out of the Batcave, Ace starts barking and charges into a tunnel, only to suddenly get smacked. The Faceless Hunter has arrived.
* Foreshadowing:

Unlike every other hero and villain on the show, the Faceless Hunter finds Bwana’s power to create MixAndMatchCritters impressive. This leads into the Cliffhanger.Cliffhanger.
** The Faceless Hunter tells Batman and B'wana Beast of how Starro came to his world and how he made a bargain to be his herald. The implication is that the Faceless Hunter served Starro solely to safeguard his world, but him reacting to Starro's death with disappointment hints at how he served willingly and that the bargain was to destroy his world.
** Almost every active hero who ever appeared up to this point makes at least a cameo appearance, but the Metal Men are nowhere to be found. Part 2 explains why they've been no-shows and brings them into the fight.

* HopeCrusher: While speaking through Vixen, Starro tells the assembled heroes that many planets have fallen before him and that what little resistance there was always became overwhelmed.
* LetMeGetThisStraight: Booster's reaction to seeing that the only remaining heroes are the RagtagBunchOfMisfits.

* Manchild: Captain Marvel openly gushes over seeing B'wana Beast's power in action. He asks assorted questions about other animals that could be merged.
* NoSell:
** The Faceless Hunter can shake off Batman's gadgets, Booster's energy blasts, and anything else thrown his way.
** The Faceless Hunter's people were this to Starro's spores since they, of course, had no faces.
* NoodleIncident:
** TheTeaser shows an assortment of heroes in different time periods battling villains: Anthro defeating Kru'll, Etrigan stopping Morgaine Le Fay from killing Merlin, Jonah Hex and Cinnamon foiling bank robbers, the Justice Society back in their prime battling Degaton's forces, and Batman taking on Ra's al Ghul.
** The episode proper opens with Batman and Booster wrapping up an adventure in the 31st century. What exactly happened is unknown, but Batman says the time period is a safer place for it.
* OhNoNotAgain: With Booster overstaying his welcome in the Batcave, Skeets suggests leaving before Ace is called in to chase them away again.

* VoiceOfTheLegion: Starro’s voice gets projected through the possessed Vixen.

to:

* ShockAndAwe: The heroes take down Starro by having Billy repeatedly call for his power. The repeated lightning strikes cause Starro great anguish until finally dying.
* TheyLookJustLikeEveryoneElse: Since the spores will immediately attack any free hero, Firestorm, Booster, and Captain Marvel switch to their secret identifies so that they can covertly move about the stadium and guide the free civilians to an escape tunnel. It works, until Starro notices fewer people on the field and looks towards them.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: As the heroes head out to the signal to Starro:
-->Ronnie: We're all gonna die, aren't we?\\
Jason: Pretty much, yeah.
* VillainRespect: The Faceless Hunter quickly grows bored facing Earth's remaining heroes, but he genuinely finds B'wana Beast's power impressive.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: Starro’s voice gets projected through the possessed Vixen.Vixen.
* WhamLine: At the very end of the episode, the Faceless Hunter boasts he now has a weapon even more destructive than Starro.
-->B'wana Beast: What is this weapon?!\\
Faceless Hunter: You.
* WhoDares: The mind-controlled Vixen has this reaction to the heroes resisting the invasion.

Added DiffLines:

The Starro invasion begins in full force, and only Batman, Booster Gold, Shazam, Firestorm and Bwana Beast are left to fight back.
----
* BrickJoke: In his garbled recollection of what happens on the current date, Booster assumes it involves a diaper truck. Later, after Starro knocks the heroes away, they land on a diaper truck.
* Foreshadowing: Unlike every other hero and villain on the show, the Faceless Hunter finds Bwana’s power to create MixAndMatchCritters impressive. This leads into the Cliffhanger.
* Homage: At one point, the heroes’ battle with Starro pauses to give us a shot referencing the first appearance of the Justice League’s cover, in which Starro was the antagonist.
* LogicalWeakness: Since Starro and his parasites absorb energy, Firestorm and Captain Marvel can use their powers to overload them to death.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: As Booster sums up, the only hope for humanity is “a couple of kids, a gym coach,” and Bwana Beast.
