Dungeons and Randomness is a [[TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons D&D]] podcast that started in April of 2012 as extra content for the TWR network, and moved to its own feed that October. Jason Massey is the DM/GM and him and his three groups get together(when schedules allow) for a weekly episode in the fantasy world of Theria and do everything from save the day to razing most of a town. * EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Zigzagged, as most of the enemy NPCs lack any known loved ones, but the allegedly evil PCs definitely do.

* ProtagonistJourneyToVillain: A running theme for some of the PCs.

* BackFromTheDead: Duncan, Vallus, Briahna, Actoronis, in that order.

* BloodMagic: The only known cure for vampirism.

* CameBackWrong: Unless you're lucky, almost any resurrection in Theria has the potential to do this.
* TheCasanova: Quietly deconstructed, in that Thoril tries to be this, to [[PottyFailure mixed]] [[MamasBabyPapasMaybe results]].

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Poe Tutillo. The first episode he's in has him running scared from Una and pissing himself, then he starts punching Dragonborn in the throat, before revealing that he's a high-ranking spy for the White Ravens.

* TheEasyWayOrTheHardWay: Malchus invokes this, and accidentally kills the local Mayor through an anger-induced heart attack.

* MagicKnight: Ironhide, Malchus, Una, and any other Swordmages, Paladins, or Hexblades that might be running around.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: Malchus' vision of Winterhaven after he nearly dies could be put down to hallucinating from blood loss, his own subconscious fears and anxieties, or to residual effects of magic from the 17-year time skip.

** Baranith-Vallus. He was around his forties while she was pushing 200. Granted, she only had her memories from the last few years. Interestingly, the trope wasn't invoked when she rejected him, they simply had different goals that needed to be accomplished, and they realistically couldn't be together.

* MurderIsTheBestSolution:

** That said, almost every other member of Group 1 feels this way about vampires, leading to [[spoiler: Ironhide sitting out the fight against Edward]].
** Una pulls this a couple of times as well, namely with [[spoiler: Jeb and Darmok]].

* TokenMinority: A majority of the cast is human, with only one or two examples from each non-human race.
* TooSpicyForYogSogoth: Running tradition, but it makes sense given the gigantic monsters they fight sometimes.
** Thoril against the adolescent purple worm.
** Yenward against the purple worm
** [[spoiler: Straad]] tries to eat [[spoiler: Briahna]]. It doesn't go well for him.

* RebelLeader:

* SlapSlapKiss: [[spoiler: Una and Brie]]'s first kiss.
* SpoonyBard: Duncan has a tendency to roll poorly. He's gotten better [[spoiler: since he was brought back from the dead]].

* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Subverted. One of Ironhide's dailies involves throwing his sword at an opponent. Granted, if he misses (which is often) it then tries to hit another enemy, but when used on a solo enemy, it's simply a miss. He also has trouble catching it sometimes.

** Drakonis' approach to magic tend to consist of throwing fireballs at everything. Granted, he gets better about using area-blocking during a couple of his fights.
** Una's response to most dilemmas.
* WifeHusbandry: After Briahna seems really attached to Malchus while she was a kid, this was the general accusation lobbed at Malchus. Averted, as Briahna was always canon gay (the audience just didn't know) and that relationship would never have happened.
* WouldHurtAChild:

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Darmok is universally despised in Theria.

* DefectorFromDecadence: Fie, Una, and Jadzia all leave [[TheEmpire the Overwatch]] to join [[LaResistance the White Ravens.]]

* DomesticAbuse: Darmok, with the creepiest voice possible.

* DropTheHammer: Una's weapon of choice.
* DualWielding: Thoril is the prime example with his melee basic attack and off-hand attack.

* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler: Rodswell]] pulls one by leaving [[spoiler: Group 1]] to join the Overwatch.

* FirstLawOfResurrection: Duncan just happens to be brought back by an item that could have resurrected ANY dead being on Theria, partly due to Dan's loss of interest in playing Rodswell.

* GlassCannon: Brie, and Jadzia if she ever actually get hit.

* HeroicBSOD: Marcus suffers this from hitting a bloodied enemy due to his Pacifist nature.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: Ironhide's definition of diplomacy is [[AggressiveNegotiations stabbing]].
* HeroicSacrifice: Gavin's [[UnfortunateImplications suicide bombing]] of the Warforged Titan.
* IBangedYourMom: Thoril to Nathaniel, with a 50% possibility of Nathaniel being his son. Draconis [[YourMom uses it to infuriate]] Nathaniel.
* InTheBack: The Elven leader tells Thoril she saw him dying this way. [[spoiler: He does, stabbed in the back by Ironhide while the same Elven leader was trying to execute him]].
* LightIsNotGood: [[spoiler: Rodswell]], namely in that he's literally a cleric of Light, and he abandons and betrays the party due to not feeling respected enough. He then joins the [[ANaziByAnyOtherName Overwatch]] and gives them the location of the [[LaResistance White Ravens]].

* MerlinAndNimue: Subverted in Jadzia's backstory. She expects the teaching from Darmok, but he decides to skip to the [[AndNowYouMustMarryMe nasty bits]]. Jadzia had to become a warlock on her own specifically to escape from Darmok.

* MoralityChain: Briahna is this to Malchus. [[spoiler: or at least she used to be. She also became a bit of one for Una before the paladin's heel-face turn.]]

* NoodleIncident: Jarahk's statement that he ate his children qualifies.
* NotQuiteDead: It's kinda Actoronis' shtick.

* ProtagonistJourneyToVillain:
** Malchus turns from someone who tries to free enslaved orcs to wiping out an entire race of sentient beings and abandoning his surrogate daughter.
** Rodswell wants to honor the memory of his dead son. He ends up betraying his son's friends, reviving two of his enemies, and giving information to the side of the war that his now-revived son is fighting.

* AbsurdlySharpBlade: [[spoiler: Ironhide's]] sword is said to be able to cut through almost anything, however, he's been using it for years without knowing it had the ability and has yet to really use it in combat since finding out.

* BoringButPractical: Thoril's basic melee attack and the follow up off-hand. These two simple and seemingly boring attacks allow him to nearly keep up with Yenward in the damage department.
* ABoyAndHisX: Actoronis and his now-dead horse.

* TheChessmaster: Marcus Sana lives and breathes this trope. Or he did, until he gave up and let G3 execute him.

* EyepatchOfPower: Liara, the one-eyed, deadshot Vampire Hunter who was Carter's [[TheDragon second-in-command]] for some of the series.

* AggressiveNegotiations: Ironhide is a strong supporter of this policy in their dealings with Carter. [[JerkassHasAPoint He was right.]]

* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: Darmok pulls this on Jadzia in her backstory.

* BadassMoustache: Marrek Aethelred, Discussed in-universe.

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Malchus is particularly protective/dedicated to Brie because she's one of the few humans who didn't immediately assume he was some sort of evil, demonic monstrosity.
* BerserkButton: About half of Una's personality is a collection of berserk buttons, although actions she deems as cowardice (through some mental gymnastics) are a great way to trigger this.
** Do not hurt anyone Brie cares about.
* [[RedEyesTakeWarning BlackEyesTakeWarning]]: If Brie's eyes go black, you should probably run.
* BlackKnight: Actoronis, specifically the Death Knight version of a black knight, although he is [[DarkIsNotEvil probably one of the nicest examples]] ever seen.
* BlessedWithSuck:
** Thoril's general experience with Vampirism
** Briahna's psionic powers came with the cost of constant night terrors, requiring she be knocked out to sleep through the night [[spoiler: at least, they used to.]]
* BloodFromTheMouth:
** Happens to Briahna when she overuses her psionic powers in a fight.
** Also a symptom of Bloodroot withdrawal, but does not herald the dreaded IncurableCoughOfDeath

* BackFromTheDead: Several Characters and and one NPC have been brought back to life, only two of them by an actual Cleric.

* TheCasanova: Quietly deconstructed, in that Thoril tries to be this, to [[PottyFailure mixed]] [[MamasBabyPapasMaybe results]].

* DisposingOfABody: Group 1 tries to do this after killing Merle, throwing his body, newly-crushed skull and all, into the burning whorehouse and claiming he died in the fire. [[spoiler: It doesn't work, and Merle's brother still figures out what happened.]]

** The degree to which Ian 'loved' Thalia is openly questioned, even to his wife, and his actions demonstrate more interest in keeping power than anything else.
** Malchus, on the other hand, has his mother.

* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Tom, the voice of Yenward, frequently adds little quips to whatever everyone else happen to be discussing, usually in a hushed tone that is easily missed depending on how loud the discussion is.

* RapeAsDrama: Notably averted - despite audience fears otherwise, [[spoiler: Briahna wasn't sexually attacked by Ian. Instead, he murdered her father in front of her, made everyone else think she was crazy, and later burned her face and threatened her to keep her silence.]]

* SlapSlapKiss: [[spoiler: Una and Brie's]] first kiss.

** Briahna's former psionic powers came with the cost of constant night terrors, requiring she be knocked out to sleep through the night.

** Group2 manages to get attacked in the Silver Glade, leading to almost all of the party being killed. Twice. You'd think they'd realize [[DontGoInTheWoods: camping is evil.]]
