* At first appearing to be an ordinary mall Santa at a Macy's in Manhattan, Kris Kringle got everyone's attention with his insistence that he in fact truly was Santa Claus. Many challenged his claims and believed him to be delusional, especially the psychiatrist Mr. Sawyer, who tried to have him committed. He was saved by a legal trial in which his defense attorney, Fred Gailey, used the defense that he might actually be Santa Claus - which, despite sounding ridiculous to everyone involved, worked.
* After the great publicity his trial garnered, Kris was soon getting letters to Santa Claus from kids all over the country. one such letter claimed to be from a place called the Pantheon, who apparently wanted him to show up and talk to the children there so he could be a Santa for an event there. When he got there, he was ascended as a god due to him perfectly representing someone whose identity as Santa Claus was ambiguous.
* No one in the pantheon can agree on whether he really is Santa either. Kris Kringle finds it ridiculous that there would be any doubt anymore, because unlike his own world the pantheon is filled with people with fantastic abilities and stories, but plenty of deities also come from worlds where there is no Santa Claus and he very idea of him existing is ridiculous, and just because something's possible in one world doesn't mean it's possible in another. Some people have tried to use as evidence against him that there already is a Santa Claus in the pantheon, but Santa himself pointed out that there are many Santas throughout fiction and the identity he takes the form of in the Pantheon is not the only one in existence, so him being there doesn't mean anything. Upon actually meeting the supposed impostor, Santa found the two were naturally very similar, and the children of the pantheon are happy to have two Santas giving presents to them on Christmas!
* As for Nicholas St. North, the other Santa in the Pantheon, Kris Kringle isn't that happy about having a tough and intimidating Santa around when he himself has been accused of being [[InsaneEqualsViolent violent]], and feels that the ideal Santa should be gentle and approachable. However, he does see Nicholas is a good person who truly has the spirit of Christmas in his heart, and thus still ultimately respects him. And it's not like Kringle doesn't have a [[BewareTheNiceOnes backbone]] when the time calls for it either.
* He spends lots of time in the House of Childhood and Adolescence, asking the children what they want and seeming to have an uncanny ability to predict what they want from just a little knowledge of them. He is unfazed by even the scarier children who some people think are evil, which some point to as evidence that he is a more powerful god than he appears to be so he faces no physical threat from them - or it could just mean he sees the good in everyone.
* He pays particular attention to the children who had a horrible life and haven't had much chance to know love and kind gifts. Kris Kringle eventually befriended the Baudelaire Orphans despite their earned distrust of adults in their life and initial thought that this man pretending to be Santa Claus was ridiculous, especially winning them over by getting Klaus books that he likes and Violet access to a far wider variety of tools to [[GadgeteerGenius invent things with]] than the limited things she had to make do with before. They are especially impressed that, in addition to. Just as he can understand the languages of children he talks to, he's also, to the siblings' surprise, capable of understanding Sunny's BabyTalk.
* Similarly, he also greatly sympathized with Seita and Setsuko's story and how going through a war left them with nothing and led to their eventual deaths, and always pays special attention to them and gives them lots of gifts to ensure they will never be deprived like that instead. Seita sometimes says he doesn't deserve Kris's care for him because it was his fault he and his sister died, and Kris Kringle responds that he wants the world to be a good enough place that a child does not feel they ''need'' to be perfect to deserve life and joy.
* Some lawyer deities in the pantheon were not impressed by how Kris Kringle won his case, citing the large amount of [[ArtisticLicenseLaw blatant legal inaccuracies]], and have suggested that the Pantheon should re-litigate the whole matter. Harvey Birdman jumped at the chance to be his defense attorney, saying that he's handled far crazier than Kringle's case. The Wright Everything Agency also showed interest in his case. He was a bit leery of Athena Cykes for her use of analytical psychology, knowing how a psychiatrist tried to use his expertise as a smokescreen to justify institutionalizing him, but due to Athena's ability to sense emotions she can tell he is a genuinely kind person who is certainly not InsaneEqualsViolent and definitely shouldn't be institutionalized - even as her powers aren't enough to tell her whether he is really Santa Claus or not.
* As for the other psychologists and psychiatrists in the pantheon... Kris Kringle has a complicated relationship with Frasier Crane. As he has said before, he greatly admires psychiatry as a field, but doesn't like when people use it as an excuse to pathologize everything, even good, noble qualities like altruism, and mistreat the mentally ill. While Frasier initially reminded him of Mr. Sawyer with his arrogance about his intelligence and psychological skill, leading to Kringle strongly distrusting him, he has become, if not friendly, at least more understanding of Frasier over time as Kris grew to realize Frasier wasn't truly cynical about any good humans can do the way Sawyer is. Though he does have to sometimes sit through Frasier wondering what in his childhood made him identify so strongly with Santa Claus...
* He empathizes deeply with Edward Scissorhands for how, like Kris Kringle himself, he was judged as being violent and someone who should be separated from society [[NotEvilJustMisunderstood despite his kindness and good intentions.]] Edward inspired him to make it a mission to defend those who are misunderstood and made out to be threats or someone who should be locked away, and [[BewareTheNiceOnes you have better not get in his way]]. Kringle is impressed by his sculptures and makes sure to deliver him supplies for Christmas to make bigger and better ones.
* Dexter has a track record for being skeptical of Santa's existence and trying to disprove it, and while he has learned his lesson that some Santas really exist both in his own world and in the Pantheon, he is still scientifically rigorous enough to know that doesn't mean ''all'' Santas are real! Therefore he has sometimes made efforts to try and determine once and for all if Kris is really Santa, though this time he has tried to be less violent and abrasive about it than he used to be when he encountered Santa in his own story. He can still be a bit forceful about it, though, but Kris Kringle seems to have a lot of patience for his antics - after all, however smart he is, Dexter is just a kid and Kris always wants to give children a chance to explore their curiosity and do what he loves. He doesn't see Dexter as the same noxious type of person as the others who have tried to disprove him.
* Nurse Ratched, on the other hand, is exactly the kind of person he hates, and the feeling is mutual. After hearing about how he once struck a person with an umbrella, Ratched quickly decided that it was a mistake not to have institutionalized him, and she has been crusading throughout the Pantheon trying to get everyone else to agree. To her frustration, despite the confusion about his identity he seems to be mostly loved by other members of the Pantheon, and she just doesn't get it - why can't they see that he is clearly insane and violent, just because there is all sorts of ludicrous fantasy nonsense in the Pantheon doesn't mean that that should just be accepted! Don't the violently crazy people constantly threatening the Pantheon prove that everyone shouldn't just accept him? Kris Kringle, for his own part, is very disappointed that even here, he can find people like her that think this way, and has tried to defend himself without getting too angry in a way she would interpret as proving her point (though it's very hard, since she is such a horrible person).
* Scrooge [=McDuck=] has had a complicated relationship with Santa in his world, but eventually reconciled with him. He and Kris Kringle had a conversation about their thoughts on Christmas - Kringle understands and sympathizes with how he would think coal is a practical gift rather than a punishment, and knows there is value in practical things. But in the end, he feels that's not his job or place in the world, his place is to allow children to be children and achieve their wildest dreams, and it's this kind of attitude of wanting to remove the whimsy from society that lead to people wanting to put him in an institution and get rid of him. Allowing yourself to believe in something can be helpful, as he saw with Doris Walker. But Kris Kringle respects him (although he wishes he would stop being as concerned with making money); it's clear he does care about Christmas and making people happy in the end, and in turn has a lot of respect for him and the other Santas in the pantheon.
