*Henry Limpet is a shy bookkeeper who is very fascinated with fish to the point of wishing that he could be one of them. He gets his wish after falling off a pier and turning into a tilefish. After getting himself accustomed to being an aquatic creature and making friends with a couple of them, the United States gets involved with World War II and Limpet decides that it's the perfect opportunity to help the US Navy after being previously rejected by them for having poor eyesight. With the help of his friend George Stickle, Limpet uses his "thrum" to help the Navy sink Nazi U-Boats and is successfully able to thwart the Nazi's counterattack plan involving missiles that home in on the sound. Having found his purpose in life and finding love with Ladyfish, Limpet bids farewell to his former wife Bessie (who married Stickle afterwards) and has since been involved with other aquatic creatures.
*Plenty of time has passed since Limpet has lived in the ocean, content with his lifestyle. At one point, Limpet was given an invitation by an unknown person who heard about his feats in WWII to have a conversation with him about additional opportunities. The person on the raft mentioned that there have been a lot of undersea discoveries since WWII and that it was going to require more than Limpet's knowledge of fish to survive the seas, including oceans far away and more fantastical. When the question of being offered a chance to switch between fish and human forms came up, Limpet turned it down citing that he's fine how things are as is given how he didn't have much confidence as a land-dweller. The person on the raft then remarked that there's always something waiting at the bottom of the ocean when one least expects it before leaving. Some time afterwards, Limpet found a sunken ship with plenty of books explaining what that person was talking about, with Limpet learning a lot about how the world has changed and what to expect from it.
*The last anyone (or at least Stickle) heard of Limpet was when he was out training dolphins. Regardless of how that turned out, Limpet learned that there were some highly intelligent dolphins who were unlike anything he had discovered beforehand. This came in the form of Flipper, who has helped humans out on a regular basis against various enemies, and Ecco, who has fought against aliens and traveled across time to prevent terrible futures from happening. It was just a small taste of how distinct aquatic life can be in terms of what can be accomplished even if two creatures are of the same species. It didn't take long for Limpet to get along with these two dolphins and they have proven to work great with him.
*Joe was one fish who Limpet found to be troubling for many reasons, not the least of which was having an antidote that not only could increase a fish's intelligence, but turn them into human. While Joe couldn't care less about the exact reasons why the formerly human Limpet turned into a fish, he still thinks Limpet shouldn't be using his abilities to help other humans. That hasn't stopped the rather dark thought of using the antidote to revert Limpet back into a human and drowning him from crossing Joe's mind as the pilot fish found it to be darkly amusing to see someone else die the same way he once did. As much as Limpet prefers being a fish over being a human, he believes that one shouldn't declare their superiority over others based on his experiences and has done what he can to thwart Joe's plans of using fish to overthrow humanity, especially considering how Joe is planning to kill him.
*Ariel may as well be Limpet's polar opposite in terms of motivations given that she is an aquatic being interested in the surface and wanted to be part of them instead of a land-dweller who is fascinated with sea creatures and wished to be one of them. They still got along with each other very easily, though Limpet found the circumstances involving Ariel heading to the surface involving the devious Ursula to be frightening (and Ursula as someone who Limpet wouldn't want to be near with given her treachery and taking advantage of someone else's wishes). What Limpet found fascinating about Ariel was that she had a daughter named Melody who was interested in the sea, ended up being a mermaid as a result of meeting Ursula's sister Morgana, and Melody opted to keep in touch with both her land-bound family and the sea following Morgana's defeat. Melody was more than curious about Limpet, a former human who was interested in the sea and became a fish who was able to keep in touch with some surface-dwellers and Limpet was just as welcoming to her as he is to Ariel.
*Merfolk in general were something that intrigued Limpet given that they're part human and part sea creature. Aquaman was one such figure who Limpet took a liking to given his heroics and how Arthur Curry has done what he can to help both the people under the sea and on land. Orm the Ocean Master, one of Aquaman's primary rivals, was someone who Limpet was very wary about given his ruthlessness and his opinion of land-dwellers being mixed at best. That Limpet was a human who became a fish and embraced the aquatic lifestyle was something that Orm found amusing, but even if Orm does have a better side to himself, his generally contentious relationship with Aquaman and fights for the aquatic throne was something that Limpet doesn't want to get involved in.
*There were a few aquatic creatures such as sharks that were dangerous enough as is for Limpet to hide back then. In the years since WWII has come and gone, he still has to be careful of aquatic predators, but there have been a multitude of fantastical sea monsters larger than most regular predators that a "thrum" wouldn't be enough to fend them off and all Limpet can do is hide until the coast is clear. Limpet was able to find some fish to be friends with including a trio consisting of Nemo, Marlin, and Dory. It weird enough that Limpet was originally a human before becoming a fish given that Nemo, Marlin, and Dory see humans as strange unknowable creatures, but Limpet was another figure who helped them get accustomed to the fact that there are humans who are as friendly as he is and the trio is willing to tag along with him whenever possible.
**Bikini Bottom was very strange for Limpet given that the place was full of fish having human-like behavior in contrast to himself being a human who transformed into a fish. It might as well be an aquatic equivalent of a regular land-centric human society according to him (and arguably some others). Seeing all the hijinx go on in that setting made Limpet briefly wonder just how crazy things could be on land. It was a bit awkward knowing how there are some aquatic creatures who could walk like humans, live like humans, and not be a mer-person, but it was still unusual to see how aquatic beings like Spongebob Squarepants live a life not that different from regular humans even if they sometimes ended up on dry land where humans are for one reason or another.
*As much as all these threatening fish and fantastical aquatic monsters have made navigating the seas more difficult for Limpet, a diver known only as The Cyclops was a far bigger problem for him in many ways. A fish wearing glasses already sounded like a dumb souvenir that could be sold at Shell City's gift shop, but that wasn't going to prevent The Cyclops from adding something even more tacky onto the already bespectacled fish after forcibly taking him from the ocean. Luckily for Limpet, not all divers were as threatening as The Cyclops and the ABZU Diver quickly got along with Limpet as she did with all other aquatic lifeforms in addition to getting in the way of The Cyclops' schemes. Not only did the ABZU Diver show Limpet that there were many unique underwater worlds out there, but also helped him have an easier time getting through these strange and powerful sea creatures even if Limpet is still uneasy around them.
*After being turned down by the Navy due to his near-sightedness, Limpet was able to help them as a fish in sinking Nazi U-Boats. He was dismayed to learn that despite WWII being over for a long time, there were plenty of Nazis who haven't given up in trying to defeat their enemies and have set up plenty of elaborate plans to do so. Even worse was that those Nazis were capable of creating highly advanced weapons to pull off such schemes and that included plenty of underwater weapons that would require much more than just turning their own homing missiles against them. Since Limpet being a fish meant that he could only do what he could against these aquatic weapons, he had to turn to Allied soldiers who had experience in sinking at least on Nazi U-Boat. He expected these soldiers to be surprised at meeting a talking fish given how shocked Stickle was after seeing what Limpet had become, but Limpet was just as surprised at seeing how some of these soldiers who supposedly were given a certain designation among the military were capable of doing tasks outside of said field. Captain America was one of those WWII figures who Limpet befriended and it wasn't just because of Cap's heroism and versatility in this particular case, but it was because Limpet knew what it was like for Steve Rogers to be originally rejected from taking part in battles before unusual circumstances gave them the means to participate in them. Limpet was able to help these versatile soldiers in finding and sinking any Nazi U-Boats that were roaming the seas through his "thrum".
*While Limpet's WWII exploits have been documented, there was a degree of secrecy around them initially given the strange circumstances of Limpet being a fish. Such secrecy has since been meaningless as time passed and a few are interested in recording Limpet helping US soldiers. Steve Zissou is a documentary filmmaker who has made plenty of documentaries about undersea life and the idea of a talking fish involved with wars was too fascinating of an idea for him to pass up. Even if the battles in question were underwater, making a documentary about human wars from the perspective of fish was going to be a challenge regardless of Zissou being up for filming and Limpet hoping that such a potential documentary can make the public see aquatic creatures as being capable of taking down man-made threats against the innocent. Limpet's encyclopedic knowledge of fish did help in bringing more accuracy to the undersea documentaries that Zissou and David Attenborough are planning to make even if the mere notion of a fish talking like a human was already divorced from reality to begin with.

* Often confuses the other gods by appearing in his myriad other forms. For a long time, no one had seen Final Form Frieza and lived...except for Jack Bauer. And Goku. Of course, one can never forget the fateful battle between the Earth-raised Saiyan and the Emperor of Evil on a primitive planet of agricultural slug men. The entire course of Frieza's existence would be redefined by the battle. He felt what it was like to be actually physically hurt by someone for the first time; he went from one third of his power being enough to stomp out anything Goku could throw at him to suddenly nearly dying at the hands of an energy ball powered by the cosmos. He reveled in coming back from that to murder Goku's best friend and target his son and their Namekian friend, only for Goku's resulting convulsion of fury to culminate in the ape becoming the Super Saiyan from the legend that Frieza had always feared and swiftly putting an end to all of his villainous revelry. Even the fact that Frieza's raw power at 100% was actually comparable to Goku's was nothing more than self-deception as he never trained his full-power state for any kind of sustained stamina control. An attempt at subterfuge resulted in Frieza being sliced in half by his own homing Kien-zan disc. A moment of CruelMercy provided him with energy from Goku to be able to move, but Frieza's attempt to murder the Saiyan from behind with a one-handed ki wave in a fit of pique saw said wave swiftly and easily overpowered by Goku's own. He barely survived the explosion of Planet Namek because he can breathe in space, was found and rehabilitated by his father with cyborg parts, went to Earth to seek revenge...and promptly got cut to ribbons and blown to nothing by an even stronger and younger Super Saiyan who somehow knew he was coming.
* Wait, let's go back to that first one. Yes, Jack Bauer met Frieza in his true form in the early days of the Pantheon's current roster and lived to tell the tale. How? You'd have to ask the Emperor himself. He likes to think it was a fit of mercy upon a human who was simply too helplessly tunnel-minded to understand his place. Others, however, would say it was a different tale; one in which an ordinary human had actually managed to impress the Emperor of the Universe. Bauer, on his way to handling some human mission, came upon Frieza about to kill a child for stepping on his shoe and pointed his gun at him while telling him to stop. Humored at such a display, Frieza turned his attention to Jack and attempted to impress upon him his terrifying power. The US federal agent acknowledged full well that he might not live to take another step due to the enemy confronting him, but still refused to flinch or show him any semblance of true fear beyond the basic recognition of danger. This eventually tuned into a competition about torture methods. Bauer expressed what he would do to stop Frieza if he could stand a chance; Frieza came up with how he would use his powers to turn the situation back on Jack's head; Jack to move on to an even more brutal method of solving the problem Frieza presented with his last statement; rinse and repeat ad nauseam. This would continue for several minutes, until, remarkably, Frieza conceded that Bauer had impressed him and allowed the American to pass through without further incident.

* A son of the wasp-mimic fly family, Hoaxe was abandoned by his parents before he said his first words as a desperate measure to keep him alive. Spending the rest of his life fighting the Dead Landers, he eventually reached Bugaria and blended in with the Wasp Kingdom's populace. However, he was shunned by his peers and had to become a trash collector to make a living. Eventually, he left the Kingdom, with nobody noticing, and spent all of his savings to buy a crown from a hapless trinket seller. Said crown turned out to be the ancient Roach relic that gave him immense flame magic and power to brainwash wasps. With his newfound powers, he returned to the Wasp Kingdom and brainwashed its entire populace and usurped their queen, Vanessa, turning the kingdom into his personal army, and set his eyes on the Everlasting Sapling, a plant said to grant immortality, and spreading his rule across entire Bugaria. Leading two assaults on the Ant Kingdom, he successfully retrieved the artifacts and went straight into the Giants' Lair, chased by the Ant Kingdom's forces. Eventually, he reached the Sapling...only to learn that it had wilted from the lack of sunlight. Refusing to accept this fate, he greedily devoured its sole remaining leaf and turned into The Everlasting King, a {{Planimal}} demigod who possessed near-limitless power. Even then, he was still defeated by Team Snakemouth, and when he lost his power, he involuntarily turned into an inanimate tree, left to serve as a grim warning to no longer seek the Sapling's power.
* Ever since he met his end in the mortal realm, his soul was retrieved by [[Pantheon/{{Villainy}} Melkor]], who told him of the Pantheon and offered him a choice -- the Wasp King would assist him and GUAE in his plans of conquest, in exchange of gaining a physical body and the godhood, and getting a chance to get back at those who had wronged him, or to permanently remain an inanimate tree back in his own world. Initially, he wasn't too keen on accepting his offer...until he learned that [[Pantheon/{{Insects}} Team Snakemouth]], the ones responsible for his downfall, were in the Pantheon, after which he immediately agreed on terms presented by Melkor.
** With his new physical body and the ability to turn into The Everlasting King form at will, the first thing Wasp King did was to use his flame magic to start the uncontrollable fire in the House of Pantheon/{{Plants}}, where he received his first temple, in hopes of bringing Team Snakemouth's attention. The fire rampaged across the entire Hall of Pantheon/MiscellaneousFlora until the group of deities from the Hall of Pantheon/WaterAndMoisture extinguished the flame. Thanks to his insect size, he was not found until Team Snakemouth decided to investigate this occurance, leading to them clashing with their nemesis once more. Though they were shocked to see him alive, they still managed to defeat him, resulting in him wasting all of his powers and turning into an inanimate tree once more. Unfortunately, thanks to the DeathIsCheap nature of the Pantheon, he had returned once more, his eyes set on conquering the Pantheon and forcing everyone to submit under his tyrannical rule.
* Because of the aforementioned destructive introduction, his [[PlayingWithFire fire powers]] and [[CompleteMonster his general heinousness]], he is considered [[HatedByAll one of the most hated gods of the entire House of Plants]], and not even the evil gods in the House are willing to tolerate him. The Wasp King simply scoffs at his neighbors, seeing them as nothing more but irritation. That being said, he's still wary of the stronger gods such as Biollante, [[Pantheon/{{Plants}} Cyth V'sug]], and [[Pantheon/GreenlandsAndGuardians Mordremoth]], understanding that they are not easy for him to kill, especially given his insect size. Even then, given that his tiny size would make him unnoticed, he would pull attempts on their lives on occasion by starting the fire on them and then waiting until it does the rest of the job.
** The only deity from the House of Plants Wasp King is willing to tolerate is [[Pantheon/TreesAndFlowers Flowey]], a vile flower that revels in spreading misery and suffering, which he finds to be decent qualities for the one he may consider an ally, plus he heard the rumors [[spoiler:that Flowey had also underwent {{Transflormation}} that gave him unimaginable power]] (and he's not far from truth). Even then, though he accepted him, he still can't stand the flower given the fact that Flowey is intolerant to orders and tends to act very independently, attacking his other allies ForTheEvulz, and the Wasp King had noticed that his losing streak grew slightly ever since they formed an alliance, with the heroes always being one step ahead from his plans. Flowey denied his involvement and simply accused the King of poorly thinking out his plans, which only angered him further. However, as rocky as their relationship is, they somehow are still able to keep their alliance going. [[spoiler:As it turns out, Wasp King [[ProperlyParanoid was actually right in suspecting Flowey]], as the flower was secretly deliberately undermining his plans and passing information to his enemies, as he's secretly an ally to the heroes.]]
* Due to the fact it his Everlasting King form is a part-plant, and it was theorized that he would become unbeatable should he end up taking this form at daylight, he would become unstoppable, many good-aligned mages of the Pantheon tried to take away his power to take this form at will. Bad news? They failed. Good news? At the very least, they were successful in preventing him from taking this form during the daytime, restricting it only to nighttime. Wasp King is very displeased by these turns of events. However, deities are warned that, in this case, they must defeat the Everlasting King before the sun rises, or else their fears would be proven correct, and he'd become unstoppable.
* Since he had ascended with no troops at his disposal, he expressed interest in finding some wasps to turn into his brainwashed underlings. His choice number one was the one who bore the title of the God of [[WickedWasps Wasps]] -- [[Pantheon/{{Insects}} Waspinator]]. Of course, given that he's actually a Cybertronian with a wasp alt-mode, that meant the Wasp King would be unable to brainwash him...or so everyone thought. And boy, they were wrong. Waspinator's technorganic structure (meaning that his body was part-organic and fused with an actual wasp's DNA) meant that he may or may not be suspectible to brainwashment. Alas, luck is ''never'' on Waspinator's side, and the wasp DNA in his technorganic structure was all it took for him to become suspectible, leaving the poor Predacon constantly ending up under the Wasp King's thrall. The King frequently uses him as his personal "attack dog", and has most preference to his ''Animated'' incarnation, given its powers and ruthlessness in combat. '''Be very afraid.'''
** Unfortunately, the other wasp in the Hall of Insects, [[Pantheon/{{Monarchs}} Queen]] [[Pantheon/{{Insects}} Sectonia]], was not as suspectible to his mind control, her magic powers rendering his crown's brainwashing abilities null. Hoaxe was infuriated by such turn of events and sees her as a contender to a position of leadership over the House of Insects. Sectonia, on her part, decries him as nothing more but an ugly vermin unworthy of the rule, but is aware of the threat he poses, thanks to his constantly brainwashed pawn, Waspinator. The two can often be seen fighting over the control of the House of Insects.
** Outside of the Hall of Insects, he expressed interest in brainwashing [[Pantheon/LifeManipulators Shokichi Komachi]], a man who got himself infused with DNA of asian giant hornet, having heard of his fighting prowess and brutality in combat, and believing he would make a powerful minion. Having Waspinator provoke him into taking his insect form, Wasp King tried to make him a minion, but unfortunately, his part-human nature made him not so suspectible to brainwashment (leaving many puzzled as to why Waspinator didn't try to resist; the most commonly accepted theory is that Waspinator is just too weak-willed for that), and during the battle, Waspinator accidentally mangled his antenna, completely severing him from the King's brainwashment. Shokichi then proceeded to turn the tables against the mad king and his underling. After that, he always tries to make sure to prevent the Wasp King's attempts to brainwash him and tries to make sure to end his goals of world-domination, much to the King's chagrin.
* Hearing of the powers and feats [[Pantheon/{{Gameplay}} Shadow Queen]] is capable of, Wasp King had expressed interest in trying to use her powers for his own benefit, either by making her his servant, or by allowing her to use him as a vessel to become the potential "Shadow King", with him eventually taking the control over their consciousness. However, he's more than aware of [[LosingYourHead what she did to Grodus]] when [[EvilIsNotAToy he tried to command her]], and decided to avoid making interactions with her until he figures out how to control her. Another deity that he's interested in is [[Pantheon/SingularSymbolism the]] [[Pantheon/{{Insects}} Radiance]]. Due to the aforementioned restriction to his Everlasting King form, he hopes to exploit the Radiance's light to constantly power his Everlasting King form. But of course, before meeting her, he tries to ensure that she won't infect him with his MysticalPlague, and as such, he tries to find a convincing argument that would make her acknowledge him as more useful when uninfected. For the same reasons as the Radiance, he expressed interest in [[Pantheon/GameCharacters Volcarona]], but the Sun Pokemon is disgusted by the mad king and refuses to interact with him.
** The one deity he was really interested in for their power was none other than [[Pantheon/FireAndHeat Ragnaros]], and he personally approached the Firelord to receive his blessing and vastly increase the power of his flame magic. Ragnaros' initial response to him was the same as to every other INSECT! -- trying to PURGE HIM WITH FIRE! However, Wasp King immediately explained that he doesn't seek conflict, and instead wants to propose an alliance; Ragnaros would increase the power of his flame magic, and in turn, Wasp King would help him spread his fire across the entire Pantheon (of course, Hoaxe is simply manipulating him, as he only wants to use his new powers for his personal ambitions). Though Ragnaros was suspicious and reluctant to allow an INSECT! to wield his power, but he eventually relented and gave him a portion of his power, much to everyone's horror. Even then, in the end, Ragnaros still remains distrustful of the Wasp King, and will be more than eager to remind him to uphold his end of the deal, much to the latter's annoyance.
--->'''Ragnaros:''' I AM THE SOURCE OF YOUR POWER, INSECT! DO NOT MAKE ME REVOKE IT!
* Given that the Ant Kingdom and its knights were his primary enemies, he hoped to find an ally who would've shared his sentiment regarding the ants. He found said ally in form of [[Pantheon/MannersOfAuthority Hopper]], who was also busy terrorizing and oppressing ants back in his home realm, approaching him with an offer of alliance against those who have wronged them. Seeing how the Wasp King managed to vastly outpower and outwit his enemies, and how fiercely determined he was in achieving his goals, with nothing, not even the [[EldritchAbomination Dead Landers]], deterring him from his end goal, the grasshopper leader accepted his alliance, hoping to learn a thing from him or two in how to instill fear into his enemies. While Hopper can't do match against the larger enemies, but as long as he can fight against Team Snakemouth, that would be enough to leave the Wasp King satisfied.
* As an usurper himself, Wasp King managed to form an alliance with another fellow usurper [[Pantheon/{{Logic}} Turbo, a.k.a. King Candy]]. He generally doesn't care for the racer's personal ambitions, but as long as he gets the job done, Hoaxe is willing to tolerate him. Their alliance didn't bode well with [[Pantheon/CheatsAndGlitches Vanellope Von Schweetz]], the one who was usurped by Turbo in the first place. The fact that Wasp King had a gall to mock her for allowing Turbo to usurp her didn't do their hostile relationship any favors.
** He also found strong commonality with [[Pantheon/InsaneBehavior Zant]], another fellow usurper king. Both of them are very unhinged, but good at hiding it with a facade of sanity. Both were initially just ordinary people until they stumbled across the source of unimaginable power that allowed them to turn the tables against those who had wronged them. Both usurped the benevolent rulers of their lands and turned their populations into their personal armies. Both are power-hungry and will stop at nothing until the whole world would be under their control. Seeing him as a useful asset in conquering the Pantheon, he struck up the alliance with the Twili, hoping to use his insanity to his own advantage. [[Pantheon/DarknessAndShadow Midna]] is not too fond of their alliance, and hearing of his atrocities, made it her goal to put an end to his campaign of conquest and destruction.
* [[Pantheon/{{Insects}} Beelzebub]] was quite pleased to hear of an ascension of another fly deity (even though the fly in question was not a housefly, but a wasp-mimic fly), and initially tried to form an alliance with Hoaxe. However, he ended up changing his mind, as several of the Wasp King's actions (namely, brainwashment of the Wasp Kingdom's forces) serve as an anathema to the ways of Chaos that Lord of the Flies follows, where no one would have to be under complete control of other being. Wasp King dismissed the demon prince as a filthy vermin that follows a child's dream, claiming that their war against the concept of the Law itself would never meet a success, and he himself doesn't really care about the ways of Chaos as long as it doesn't benefit him. Though they became enemies, Beelzebub still tries to convice the King to accept ways of Chaos, though Hoaxe always puts down his offers.
* Having heard of how [[Pantheon/EyeAbilities King Sombra]] brainwashed the Crystal Empire and turned its populace into his personal army, similarly to what he did to the Wasp Kingdom, Hoaxe attempted to form an alliance with a dark unicorn king. However, Sombra declined, [[ICanRuleAlone refusing to share the position of power with anyone other than himself]], and also because he doesn't have a good opinion on the Wasp King, seeing him as lowly bug undeserving of his power, leaving him furious at having yet another EvilOverlord to compete with. While on the subject of ponies, Wasp King is also not too fond of [[Pantheon/DarknessAndShadow Nightmare Moon]], given that her plan to bring TheNightThatNeverEnds ends up clashing with his desire to grow endless power for his Everlasting King form from the sunlight. He seeks to eliminate her at the first given opportunity.
* Having heard of the name of [[Pantheon/VillainousAppearances Queen Vanessa]], he made the same mistake Team Snakemouth did, believing her to be Queen Vanessa of his home universe, and started the RoaringRampageOfRevenge, trying to kill her for daring to give his enemies the Flame Brooch. However, by the moment he crashed into her manor and realized it wasn't Vanessa he knew, it was too late, as she swiftly encased Waspinator in ice. Wasp King in response retaliated with his Ragnaros-empowered flame magic attacks. A fierce battle erupted, with both opponents being on equal standing in spite of the King's insect size, until the Wasp King decided to turn into the Everlasting King. This ended up becoming his undoing, as [[LogicalWeakness his part-plant nature resulted in him being vulnerable to ice]], which resulted in him becoming an ice tree. Once he resurfaced thanks to DeathIsCheap nature of the Pantheon, he swore to take revenge on this 'new' Vanessa for his humiliating defeat.
* ''"Hmph. You're all so pathetic. Pitiable. A King holds absolute power over his people. He is not meant to serve... He is to be served! To command! To possess! To enjoy! That is the privilege of royalty! And it shall all be mine!"''

* The story of the "Iron Men" begins with an average Japanese Salaryman and his girlfriend. One day, the unassuming businessman was driving home with his girlfriend until they accidentally ran over a pedestrian. This pedestrian, however, was the man known as "the Metal Fetishist" so called for his unusual fixation on metal applied to his body. The couple, unaware of this, believed the man dead, hid his body, and tried to move past their dark deed. But the Salaryman had received a curse or perhaps gift from the Fetishist. The man's body ''slowly'' began taking on the properties of metal, his mind plagued with horrific visions of a cybernetic nightmare. Eventually the Salaryman's transformation led to his girlfriend's death, and the Metal madman himself arrived to complete the transformation as part of his mad desire to share his agony with his victim. The two engaged in a brutal battle of metal and flesh, eventually combining into a monstrosity that sought to rust away the world with their newfound "love".
* At least that's how one version of the story goes. Another account tells of a salaryman named Tomoo, who led an ordinary life with a loving wife and child, but had no memory of his past. That life was shattered when Yatsu, AKA the Metal Fetishist, targeted him for his depraved plans. Tomoo's young son was murdered, and he plunged into despair, awakening the metal-morphing powers he shared with Yatsu-actually his brother. Tomoo went on a brutal rampage against Yatsu's cult to save his wife, and soon discovered the truth of his past. The boys' father was a metal molding maniac as well, experimenting on his children to create human weapons. With this awful revelation, Tomoo succumbed to his brother's urging and evolved into a massive, tank like juggernaut. [[GainaxEnding Amid the destruction however, it seems Tomoo found peace, as he apparently shifted back to human form with his wife and revived son.]]
** Some time later Yatsu resurfaced, this time targeting another Cyborg named Anthony. Yatsu threatened Anthony's son to control him as a new weapon. But the super Cyborg fought the Metal Fetishist and ultimately averted suffering Tomoo's fate, and Yatsu was absorbed by Anthony's own power, gone for good...at least for now.
* Eventually the Salaryman(Tomoo) was welcomed into the Pantheon gates. He hoped to find a nice place to settle down and put his metal nightmare behind him. Unfortunately there was a reason he was there, and the other inductee surfaced shortly after. Initially disoriented, the Metal Fetishist soon set to work seeking new metal to absorb and fuse with for power and pleasure. Tomoo was filled with terror as he realized his brother was coming for him. Yatsu seeks to expand his love of chaos and transform the Pantheon into his twisted view of beauty, and he wants to be one with Tomoo to do it.
* Applies to Both:
** Despite everything, neither will say they hate the other(although neither are mentally sound). The Salaryman/Tomoo on some level feels guilty for indirectly causing his enemy's transformation, as in one timeline he left Yatsu for dead and in another his murder of their parents inspired the boy with a love of devastation. The Metal Fetishist/Yatsu claims their "love" transcends mortal flesh and hopes that someday Tomoo will come to see his point of view. Nobody sane buys that though.
** Although they outwardly appear to human, both Yatsu and Tomoo will morph into horrifying machine monsters under stress, [[PersonOfMassDestruction leaving unpredictable devastation]] where they go. Tomoo has tried to seek help for this, leading to him joining a "support group" of sorts with similar individuals like Dr. Bruce Banner and the Lycanthrope Larry Talbot. Banner knows well the trauma of being a walking weapon, and he's shared Tomoo some techniques to tame his anger. Yatsu, meanwhile, seeks to ''unleash'' the full extent of his power and enjoys the company of like-minded monsters, especially of the mechanical variety. One such is the Android psychopath Ultron, whose desire to replace humanity with cybernetic extensions of himself earned him the Metal Fetishist's respect. By chance, one of Tomoo's circle is Dr. Hank Pym, Ultron's creator. Pym is as ashamed of his monstrous son as Tomoo is his brother. Both agree their counterparts represent the worst impulses of themselves, and that it's their responsibility to destroy them.
** A similar duo is the psychic "Scanner" terrorist Darryl Revok and his brother Cameron Vale. Despite his lack of social skills, Vale was interested in Tomoo's condition and believes he's found another ally. Revok, on the other hand, has decided that both Metal men are too dangerous and psychotic to be controlled. He's able to effectively strike Yatsu mentally, but the maniac's biomechanical nature allows him to bounce back quickly. Revok is still planning to destroy the metal monster, and Yatsu sneers at his arrogance.
** Neither of them are friends to the mysterious mage called "the Enchantress". Tomoo in his case considers her no better then the Metal Fetishist, as she transforms people in karmic ways while also affecting innocent bystanders. Yatsu on the other hand is annoyed by her self-righteousness, as he [[CardCarryingVillain is quite proudly]] [[AtLeastIAdmitIt open about being a destruction loving force of evil.]] The Enchantress doesn't view them worth her time though, as they're ''already'' in frequent psychological and physical agony.
** If there's one ideal they share, it's that they both loathe abusive parents, especially since in one timeline their father was a selfish monster who turned them into what they are. While Yatsu isn't much better than his dad, he still sees his father in people like Ozai and seeks to destroy everything he built. Tomoo especially has it in for men like Gendo Ikari and Shou Tucker, who used their own children for their own selfish experiments, which in the case of Ikari had truly apocalyptic results. Dr. Gero stands out as the most similar, as while he did care for his son, he still created killing machines both organic and mechanical. Further unnerving Tomoo is that Gero has expressed interest in the two, believing he may have a better chance of studying and harnessing their powers.
** The Lin Kuei ninja clan boasts two notable cyborgs in Cyrax and Sektor. Like the two iron men, they were converted by an abominable process, and while Cyrax struggles against his mechanical nature like Tomoo, Sektor embraces it like Yatsu. Upon hearing of them, Yatsu approached Sektor with an offer to combine their powers. Sektor was weary of the man's insanity but believes he can still use the Metal Fetishist to upgrade his arsenal. Cyrax, meanwhile, informed Tomoo of Sektor's schemes. While Tomoo contains more raw power, Cyrax is a seasoned martial artist, so he's offered to teach the Salaryman some of his skills in battle with their evil cybernetic enemies.
** The SCP Foundation keeps a close watch on the two as they specialize in containing anomalous and especially dangerous beings and phenomena. Tomoo is willing to cooperate if it means helping control his abilities, but Yatsu has given them more trouble. Even worse, he shows a fascination with the various monsters the Foundation contains. Of particular interest is SCP 217, the Clockwork Virus. Yatsu sees it as a lifeform akin to himself and seeks to join it in reformatting the Earth. Thankfully, he's been held at bay for now.
*Applies To Tomoo:
** A certain nightmare-walking creature began appearing in the poor guy's dreams, being a fan of that level of BodyHorror and mental anguish. Krueger noted with amusement that the undertones of Tomoo and Yatsu's relationship reminds him of a time [[Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet2FreddysRevenge when he was a malevolent force symbolizing repressed homosexuality trying to take over another young man's body.]] Freddy hoped to possess Tomoo and use his devastating powers in the waking world. Fortunately, a cyborg lifeform isn't so easy to control, and Freddy was forced to eject. He was disappointed but still shows interest in the Iron Men's potential.
-->'''Freddy''': Aw, you're no fun. But your friend? [[HumanoidAbomination He seems like my kind of guy.]]
** In terms of being an unassuming office guy transformed into a strange creature, Gregor Samsa can relate to Tomoo's plight. He's also as devoted to his family as his cyborg counterpart, though perhaps [[UnstoppableRage not to the extent]] [[PapaWolf Tomoo gets when you threaten his wife and son.]] Despite Samsa's own horrible situation, Tomoo would say Gregor's father was still better than his own, as at least he didn't ''intentionally'' mutate his children.
** The Salaryman was relieved to meet others who had experienced and overcame similar trauma. Alex Murphy, a police officer who was resurrected as a cyborg super-cop after his murder, told Tomoo he was impressed by the lengths he went to save his family from his evil brother. Tomoo hopes someday Murphy can reunite with his own. Atom, better known as the android superhero Astro-Boy, is a fellow native of Japan and was moved to tears hearing what Tomoo and his brother went through as children. It especially resonated because of his own relationship with Dr. Tenma. Atom hopes one day Yatsu can remember his humanity the way his brother did.
*Applies to Yatsu:
** He's considered an insane abomination [[EvenEvilHasStandards even among other world conquerors]], [[PragmaticVillainy if only that his insanity and dangerous powers make him too unpredictable]]. Besides Ultron, however, a few admire his monstrous ambition. Cell, the aformentioned Dr. Gero's deadliest creation, is on a journey to perfect himself and sees Yatsu's mission of spreading "the beauty of destruction" as similar. The cyborg Kaiju Gigan is generally a weapon for whoever points him somewhere, but Yatsu's technopathy lets him to communicate with the beast on more even footing, promising him new upgrades and places to destroy. Hank Henshaw, the hopelessly misanthropic Cyborg Superman, joins with Yatsu in the belief a fellow cybernetic entity can help bring an end to his tortured existence and destroy the world that spawned them. He's also caught the attention of SKYNET, who's thrilled at the prospect of creating man-machine hybrid Terminators with the Fetishist's unique powers. The evil AI assigned the shape-shifting T-1000 as a diplomat. A similarly sociopathic machine called AM(Allied Mastercomputer) has admitted it's impressed that a young human could transcend into a being that rivals itself in power and malice. Yatsu has experience as a cult leader, and preaches a new world of machines where organics are slaves and fuel, every evil automaton's dream.
** One group that shares his beliefs is the bionically enhanced race known as the Cybermen. The Cybermen have battled to create a technological dystopia across different timelines, and Yatsu has offered to aid them in their crusade. Although he can't assume command from the Cyber Controller, Yatsu is happy to provide new hosts to the cyberization process. He's also planning to limit their emotion inhibition so his ideal cyber race can be more creative. Another race, the similarly cybernetic Borg, isn't happy with Yatsu's ambitious, wild card personality. The Collective has decided to exterminate his individuality, a feat easier said than done, and Yatsu has vowed to have the collective answer to him.
** Ironically for someone who also hates organics, Megatron of the Decepticons has nothing but contempt for the Metal Fetishist and sees him as a plague on Cybertron in general. That he's a horrible abomination is one of the few things he and Optimus Prime can agree on. Upon learning of Cybertron and it's inhabitants, Yatsu was thrilled at the chance to assimilate a race of mechanical beings, but he's been repelled by both Autobot and Decepticon alike.
** He's well aware that there exist monsters and beings of similar nature within the Pantheon, even if they're not necessarily mechanical. Unfortunately(at least for him), what prevents an alliance is most are too feral and uncontrollable to reason with. The amorphous alien called "The Thing" is focused on assimilating the populace and sees Yatsu as competition, while the viral Onryo Sadako doesn't need help spreading her influence. Tomie Kawakami, another shape-shifting sociopath with assimilation powers, is too petty and vain, seeing Yatsu's grandiose vision as an annoyance. However, he's found it a bit easier to exploit the parasites called Face-Huggers. The cyborg believes he can use them to engineer bio-mechanical Xenomorphs, something nobody wants to see implemented. Even worse, he's recently caught the interest of the alien "Qu" who also seek to "evolve" humanity to their warped designs. Yatsu is more than happy to serve as a consultant.
** Because of his metal-manipulating abilities, any descent person with this power deems him a disgusting monstrosity. Even mutant revolutionary Magneto, who generally dislikes humanity, believes Yatsu is a rabid dog who needs to be put down, much to the latter's disappointment, as he thinks Magneto could've been a great partner. Toph Bei Fong, hailing from a world where people can manipulate elements, has stated he's an insult to Benders everywhere. None of this really bothers the Metal Fetishist, as he thinks sooner or later, they'll all be absorbed into his glorious metal and succumb to his twisted vision.
** While many Pantheon inhabitants are familiar with the trauma transformation can bring, one boy in particular was appalled to learn of this man's ascension. Tim Barnett, a boy who underwent a slow, traumatic metamorphosis into an apple tree, sees what the Metal Fetishist did to his brother as ''worse'' than his own ordeal. Even if Tomoo was guilty of a graver crime than stealing an apple, Tim has decided to help any way he can against the biometal sociopath. Yatsu strangely pities the child somewhat, because to him becoming plant matter is far inferior to the beauty of metal.
** Unsurprisingly, most heroes and villains who don't believe in organic subjugation are also very much opposed to the cyborg's insanity. Pamela Isley is the inverse of Yatsu, a former human mutant with godlike power over plants, but even she recognizes that he's a worse monster than her. Gorilla Grodd is a megalomaniacal beast but he still has the sense to see the Metal monster as a threat to all apekind. Even Metallo, another homicidal machine man, is horrified by Yatsu, as he still has enough attachment to his human side. He also detests Hank Henshaw, so the Metal Fetishist allying with the nihilistic cyber-being is more than good a reason. Cyborg/Victor Stone is a man who grapples with his human and robotic halves and was disgusted at how the biomechanical man could discard his humanity with such ease. Yatsu attempted to corrupt his cybernetics, but Victor retaliated with a special anti virus he designed. Cyborg's fury at Yatsu for his sick violations nearly blindsided him, but he was able to disrupt the corruption and made it clear he wouldn't hold back so much next time.
-->'''Cyborg''': You want to be metal so badly? Try to get in my head again, and I'll show you what it's like to be ''scrap iron.''
** He's found a startling number in common with the psionically powered Japanese criminal Tetsuo Shima. Both were shy children given deadly powers by experiments(at least in one timeline for Yatsu), both have a heated rivalry with another young man they were very close to, and both eventually metamorphosed into monstrous abominations that tried to assimilate the world. Tetsuo on his part is happy to find a kindred spirit and together the two plan to become gods of this cruel world. It's the exact opposite with one Kevin Levin, however, as he sees Yatsu as the kind of person he could've been(and has become at times) if he didn't have caring friends: a sociopathic monster in every sense who absorbs and destroys whatever he touches. He's afraid to even absorb metal from Yatsu and has advised his friend Ben to never let the Omnitrix take any "DNA" from the creature.
