He respects Gertrud for how she represents GermanicEfficiency and wanted her to agree with him that what he's doing is for the best of Germany. Stroheim may be a Nazi, but he more embraces German strength and nationalism than the ethnic persecution and racial policies the Nazis are infamous for so Dressler believes he'd be a worthy Valkist. Both refused and oppose him for differing ideological reasons, but there's no real emnity.

Dressler has been studying under him in hopes he can incorporate Thrawn's own strategies in a way that'll let him form his Greater German Reich.
