* While plenty of Canada's animated series have aired in the United States, there are also a significant number that haven't -- most of which are, unsurprisingly, extremely obscure outside of Canada. Examples include ''WesternAnimation/RubyGloom'', ''WesternAnimation/YvonOfTheYukon'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Wishfart}}'', ''WesternAnimation/ThreeAmigonauts'', ''WesternAnimation/ChucksChoice'', ''WesternAnimation/ChopChopNinja'', ''WesternAnimation/FredsHead'', ''WesternAnimation/DelilahAndJulius'', ''WesternAnimation/UrbanVermin'', and ''WesternAnimation/TheBagelAndBeckyShow''.

** ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' eventually averted this by getting a Japanese for the Japanese Nick+ streaming service in [[LateExportForYou 2021]], but it's unknown if the other shows will get this treatment as-well.

*** Luckily, [[https://news.ponycanyon.co.jp/2018/09/26959 The Movie does get a direct-to-DVD release]] in December 2018.

** ''Literature/CuriousGeorge'', which aired on NHK and Disney Junior.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheWeekenders'' has finally come out on DVD... as an exclusive to the Disney Movie Club, which is currently only available in the US (the sets can be resold and regularly show up on Amazon Marketplace and [[=eBay=]], but they cost more than general retail DVD sets and supply is not as consistent).

* ''WesternAnimation/TheWeekenders'' has finally come out on DVD... as an exclusive to the Disney Movie Club, which is currently only available in the US. Same case with ''WesternAnimation/GoofTroop'' and ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible''.

* Because of the [[BannedInChina Kenyan media ban]] [[https://www.news24.com/Channel/kenyas-uninformed-ban-on-tv-shows-with-gay-characters-is-extremely-dangerous-20170622 in 2017]], four of the seven cartoons from the West fall under this trope in Africa:

* As of Season 1, ''WesternAnimation/FacesMusicParty'' can only be seen in the United States.

** Only the following ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' cartoons have been ever localized in Hungary: ''WesternAnimation/TransformersTheMovie'' (completely out of context without [[WesternAnimation/TheTransformers the show it's based on]]); ''Anime/TransformersEnergon''; ''Anime/TransformersCybertron''; ''Anime/TransformersArmada'' (this one much later, [[SequelFirst even though the latter two were its sequels]]); ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'' (without the ''Predacons Rising'' movie); ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRescueBots''; ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise2015'' and only the first season of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersCyberverse''. ''Armada'', ''Prime'' and ''Rescue Bots'' are the only series to have been given DVD releases... but only the first half for ''Armada'', and the first 10 episodes for ''Prime''.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheThreeFriendsAndJerry'' has never aired in Asia and the Middle East, excluding Japan and Israel. This is probably due to the UnfortunateImplications of the {{token|minority}} Asian character Mimmi being drawn with AsianBuckTeeth and yellow skin.

** According to one of the writers, ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' did receive a Korean dub, but suffered the same fate as ''South Park'' and was cancelled due to its content.

* As of November 2016, Creator/SethMacFarlane's animated shows (''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'', ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDad'', ''WesternAnimation/TheClevelandShow'', among others) have yet to be released (or possibly dubbed) in Japan.

* Most [[CanadianSeries Canadian-produced cartoons]] fall under this trope in Japan, with some of the only ones to be released there being ''WesternAnimation/RubyGloom'', ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Sidekick}}'', ''WesternAnimation/CampLakebottom'', ''WesternAnimation/ScaredySquirrel'', ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyTest'', ''WesternAnimation/RoliePolieOlie'', ''WesternAnimation/TheBackyardigans'', ''WesternAnimation/PAWPatrol'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheCupheadShow'' just to name a few.

* Shows that originally aired on Creator/PBSKids usually never make it to Japan, though there have been eleven exceptions. They are:

* While ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'' was released in Finland, Latvia, and Lithuania, for some reason the show never got dubbed into said countries' languages. It was never broadcast in Iceland, either. The show is also lacking a legitimate release in Southeast Asia (except Singapore and Thailand).
** Now partially averted, as the show now has a proper Finnish dub available on Disney+ following the service's launch in Nordic countries in September 2020.
* For reasons unknown (probably due to showing the history of the United States), ''WesternAnimation/SchoolhouseRock'' never saw a release outside of North America until 2020, when Creator/DisneyPlus added the show to its platform in selected overseas countries.

* This trope lead to ''WesternAnimation/{{Robotomy}}'''s demise. Creator/CartoonNetwork couldn't convince ''any'' foreign networks to air the show (most likely due to its violent content), and as a result they [[ScrewedByTheNetwork saw no point in pushing it]], so it become the [[ShortRunners shortest-lived Cartoon Network original]].

** And now, Time Warner has shut off the Boomerang feed for many parts of Asia and replaced the feeds with Toonami... and quietly launching a sister channel, Cartoonito, which does have the show, along with it.
*** And then undone the move, creating confusion to providers lining up to sign Cartoonito up for their service, just as word began to spread.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' has not seen a release in the Middle East, due to the show's LGBT content.

* The ''Sabrina'' portion of the SaturdayMorningCartoon, ''WesternAnimation/SabrinaAndTheGroovieGoolies'', outright falls under this trope to countries outside of the United States, Canada, Asia, Latin America and Italy, despite being the first MagicalGirl cartoon be made in the US. Yes, fans of the [[ComicBook/SabrinaTheTeenageWitch Sabrina comic book]] who live in Australia, Ireland or the United Kingdom and were born in the 1960s would not be able to recieve the series, and there was no way to watch the series in these countries.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheFruitties'' proved so popular in its native Spain that it managed to get localized in other European countries, going so far as to get an English dub... which was made for the UK and Ireland. Despite being popular in the European community and airing for a respectable 91 episodes, the show never got released in the United States, or any non-European country that isn't in Brazil, the Arab world[[note]]the show got an Arabic dub, which would technically cover either Africa or Asia depending on which Arab countries it aired in[[/note]] and Southeast Asia.

** The series has an offical [=YouTube=] channel, but one, the videos are clips of the show, and two, nothing related to ''ComicStrip/USAcres'' is on the channel.

* The French series ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldOriginals'' has yet to see a release outside of France. While Creator/{{Nickelodeon}}'s acquisition of the ''Garfield'' franchise included the rights to this series, there are currently no plans to give the series an overseas release of any kind.

* To date, there are no plans for DVD releases for ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfZelda'', ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfSuperMarioBros3'' and ''WesternAnimation/SuperMarioWorld'' in the United Kingdom, especially as the latter two have not been seen on UK TV again after UK children's channel Pop stopped airing Creator/{{DiC|Entertainment}}'s shows in 2010, thus resulting in many importing the DVD releases from the United States.

* Animated shows originating in European countries, such as ''WesternAnimation/TheFruitties'', ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'', ''WesternAnimation/LilyTheWitch'' and ''WesternAnimation/WinxClub'', usually do not have a legitimate release in Japan, with several exceptions (although some AllCGICartoon shows of Creator/Studio100, such as ''Literature/{{Vicky the Viking}}'' and ''Anime/{{Heidi}}'', are based on anime counterparts, the Studio 100 versions of ''Vicky'' and ''Heidi'' are never officially released in Japan).

* Animated shows originating in European countries, such as ''WesternAnimation/TheFruitties'', ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'', ''WesternAnimation/LilyTheWitch'' and ''WesternAnimation/WinxClub'', usually do not have a legitimate release in Japan, with several exceptions (although some AllCGICartoon shows of Creator/Studio100, such as ''Literature/{{Vicky the Viking}}'' and ''Anime/{{Heidi}}'', are based on the anime counterparts, the shows itself were never released in Japan).

** However, Japan averted this, in terms of ''Winx Club'', with the release of ''World of Winx''.

* While ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'' was released in Finland, Latvia, and Lithuania, for some reason the show never got dubbed into said countries' languages. It was never broadcast in Iceland, either.

* ''WesternAnimation/SuperNoobs'' is one of these American/Canadian shows known for having several cases of being ScrewedByTheNetwork in terms of how the Cartoon Network in the U.S. treated the show. Initially, they had the show air in a marathon session of one episode per day in the U.S. when it first premiered, which was in a similar manner to how ''Total Drama Pahkitew Island'' and ''The Ridonculous Race'' aired in the United States. However, the marathon abruptly stopped after the 31st episode. The show went into limbo but briefly came back in the limelight seven months later with the network planning to release episodes 33 to 52 in terms of airing four episodes per week. However, Cartoon Network only aired eight episodes and for reasons unknown, decided to yank the last twelve episodes off their time slots and replace them with reruns of Teen Titans Go! The 32nd episode was held back until October because it was a Halloween episode. The network originally decided to air the episode in the U.S on October 27 but postponed the episode for two more days. As of now, there is no word on whether Cartoon Network will release the last 12 episodes in the United States or when they will release the episodes if they do decide to release them. To add insult to injury, other foreign countries such as the Philippines, France, Italy, and Turkey got to see the entire first season long beforehand. Even more insulting is that even though the show is partly a Canadian cartoon created by Scott Fellows, who is American, the show didn't air in Canada until almost a year later after the UK premiere.

* The European Portuguese dub of ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'' didn't go beyond season 2.
** Half of the episodes were skipped in the Italian dub.

* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'': Time Warner put the show on the respective ''Boomerang'' feeds after winning the rights to the show for the Asia, West Europe and Pacific regions. Time-Warner either didn't think too highly of the show, decided to use the show as a ''ransom program'' to coax cable providers into picking the network up by hoping for heavy requests from subscribers and is failing miserably in their tactics, or, as some speculated, is doing this on purpose to mess with Hasbro's marketing, since Time Warner is primarily partnered with Mattel (Mattel has the toy rights to DC's characters, and DC is owned by Time Warner. Likewise, Hasbro has the toy rights to Marvel characters, and Marvel is not only owned by Disney, but is a direct competitor to DC[[note]]Which likely isn't the case since Cartoon Network airs [[WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise2015 a few]] ''{{Franchise/Transformers}}'' [[WesternAnimation/TransformersCyberverse shows]] around the world.[[/note]]). For the record, Boomerang reaches fewer households in Asia--many Pay TV providers that carry Cartoon Network do not carry Boomerang, and even if they do, Boomerang is almost always part of the premium package while Cartoon Network is part of the basic package.

* ''WesternAnimation/OggyAndTheCockroaches'' has yet to see seasons 6 and 7 to release in a LOT of countries other that Europe and Asia.[[note]]It's available in Latin America on CN and Boomerang, but still![[/note]] Ukraine[[note]]PlusPlus[[/note]], France[[note]]Gulli, Canal J, and La Trois[[/note]], Southeast Asia[[note]] Cartoon Network and Boomernag[[/note]] and the Middle East[[note]]Gulli Arabia[[/note]] have some far aired seasons 4-7 full ''uncensored''. Weird because the Middle East is known to censor shows a lot.

* ''WesternAnimation/TRONUprising'' has yet to make its debut in Latin America, despite having episodes of the Spanish dub air in the United States via SAP.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheWeekenders'' has finally come out on DVD...as an exclusive to the Disney Movie Club, which is currently only available in the US. Same case with ''WesternAnimation/GoofTroop'' and ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible''.

* ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' never got a Basque dub nor aired on Basque networks despite getting some books based on the series published in the language.

* Season 6 of ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'' was only released in the United States, Germany, Canada and Australia, even though Spanish and French voice tracks exist on the Australian PAL Blu-Ray.

* Most Nickelodeon shows produced after 2009 didn't received a Japanese dub, since Nickelodeon Japan ceased operations back in 2009. A few of them managed to air, however, and most of the time it's on NHK, but even then it's only a select few that do air there, not to mention that the shows often get pulled after a few months to make room for other shows. Eventually, in 2018, a new Japanese Nickelodeon channel launched, as part of a partnership with NHK, despite this, many shows still haven't been localized as of 2020, such as ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'', ''WesternAnimation/RainbowButterflyUnicornKitty'', and ''WesternAnimation/ItsPony''.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' eventually averted this by getting a Japanese for the Japanese Nick+ streaming service in [[LateExportForYou 2021]], but it’s unknown if the other shows will get this treatment as-well.

** It was not released in the BENELUX either, probably because the Scooby Doo franchise was mainly known there through Cartoon Network.

* Whilst WesternAnimation/DuckTales1987, WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers and WesternAnimation/TaleSpin are slowly but surely being released in Europe, WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}, WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck and WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfTheGummiBears has yet to see even one release in that area and judging by the fact that anything related to ''Darkwing Duck'' or ''Gargoyles'' officially released by Creator/{{Disney}} on Website/YouTube seems to be only viewable in the United States, it most likely won't be happening anytime soon.

* As of this writing, Disney Junior short series ''WesternAnimation/NinaNeedsToGo'' has only been dubbed in seven languages other than English: Italian (to make matters worse, it's localized and has edits to the point where some episodes are only '''30 seconds long'''), Korean (which [[ShortRunInPeru aired the season 2 episodes months before their American and British premieres]]), Spanish, French, Greek, Polish and Japanese ([[LateExportForYou which is the most recent dub, premiering three years after it aired in the US]]).

* ''WesternAnimation/MaxAndRuby'', while the series has been dubbed in other languages such as Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Arabic, Hebrew, Korean, Portuguese, and German, and getting some of the original book versions translated in certain languages. The show hasn't been aired in Japan or China.

* Most Creator/CartoonNetwork shows haven't been dubbed in Greek, and most of the more recent ones haven't aired in Greece at all because of Cartoon Network stopping broadcast there in January 2013.

** ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' finally managed to avert this in Japan, as [=GyaO=] acquired the rights to the series for their streaming service, and Fox Japan started airing the series (however in a subtitled format rather than a full on dub).

* While ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'' was released in Finland, Latvia, and Lithuania, for some reason they never got dubbed into said countries' languages. It was never broadcast in Iceland, either.
** Now partially averted as when Disney+ came out in Scandianvia, it finally got a Finnish dub starting recently.
* For reasons unknown (probably due to showing the history of the United States), ''WesternAnimation/SchoolhouseRock'' never saw a release outside of North America until 2020, when Creator/DisneyPlus added the show worldwide.

** On the topic of ''Animaniacs'', the reboot is a Hulu exclusive, making it exclusive to the USA and Japan, though it would eventually see releases in Canada (on Creator/{{Teletoon}}) and Latin America (on Creator/HBOMax).

* Many of Creator/MarvelComics' animation output of the 1980s and 1990s have never seen complete box set releases in the United States (with the exception of ''WesternAnimation/XMen'', ''WesternAnimation/IronMan'' and ''WesternAnimation/FantasticFour''), but Region 2 territories have enjoyed complete series of all of the ''Incredible Hulk'' animated series, the rare ''Spider Man 5000'', ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManAndHisAmazingFriends'', ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManTheAnimatedSeries'' and the ''WesternAnimation/SilverSurfer'' cartoon.
