* You might not think being able to turn body parts into cats would be this. [[BodyHorror You would be horrifyingly incorrect.]] It comes out looking like a malformed telepod mixture of ''[[Film/TheThing1982 The Thing]]'', [[Manga/{{AKIRA}} Tetsuo]], a monster from ''Franchise/SilentHill'', and one of Creator/DavidCronenberg's unholy creations. For those brave enough, [[http://i.imgur.com/CotdFcA.gif this is the result.]] For those ''not'' brave enough, it's [[spoiler: a once-humanoid blob with a dozen cat heads poking out of massive holes in its body, each of them warping and stretching as they shift across its surface.]]

* Since we learn that Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond, that means she was kidnapping humans for her ''Zoo'' because of her ''fascination'' for them. She never even let them go while she was Pink Diamond (before staging her shattering). So imagine being kidnapped by an all powerful child into this "Zoo" for her own amusement of humans and then your captor forgetting all about you '''to''' fight for you (and quote "live with you"). Leaving you and your offspring trapped with no escape for generations, probably forever.
** It later turns out that Blue Diamond ordered the Zoo because she misinterpreted Pink's begging to spare the Earth. Somehow, that arguably makes it worse, since Pink unwittingly caused numerous humans to be imprisoned away from their home for thousands of years as a result.

* Yellow Diamond's ship is strong enough to give the Cluster arm a serious fight, and it apparently is suffering a HeroicRROD afterwards. How tough ''is'' that ship?
* We finally see Blue Diamond in battle and she's pure rage...and it's '''terrifying'''. Both in terms of her killing intent (while still grieving, she's done talking and just wants ''revenge''), and sheer power (when Connie attacks her, she effortlessly stops the sword with her fingers and snaps it as if it were a small piece of glass). Dropping ''both'' Diamond ships ''on top of her'' isn't enough to ''scratch'' her. The sheer power of the Diamonds is utterly horrifying.

*** You can feel the grief, rage, and ''hatred'', emotions you'd never expect Steven to show, in that scream. And there's the [[DissonantSerenity blank look]] on Pink Steven's face. This is what an unfeeling, unlimited Steven who does not hold back looks like.
** White Diamond, an entity that the story had treated as an infallible PhysicalGod up to that point, is unnerved by Pink Steven. Not only because the truth that Pink Diamond ''is'' gone for good is thrown in her face, but also because its power [[NoSell No Sells]] everything she tries. Even when every possessed body in the room and herself fire on Pink Steven at once, he calmly shields against every attack without any effort before reflecting their attacks right back at them.

* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlmfPB20Ln4 The first teaser]] for [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverseTheMovie the movie]] is only 18 seconds long, but it manages to pack a surprising amount of creepiness into those seconds. The camera shows an unknown heart-shaped gem, which is slowly rotating (and [[MindScrew instantly flipping upside-down and right-side-up with each half-rotation]]), with its main facet reflecting Steven, Amethyst, Pearl, and Garnet in turn. Then, the gem flips one more time to reveal the silhouette of an unknown Gem, complete with glowing eyes and mouth and a SlasherSmile to rival the best of them. The audio becomes filled with the sound of sinister [[CreepyChild childlike laughter]] as the camera cuts to the title. Something big is coming, and it is '''not''' good.
** The music is part of what makes the promo so ominous. It sounds like someone chopped up a recording of a classical piece and is playing single notes at a time, sometimes cutting off or reversing the audio. By the time the title screen appears, the audio sounds like it's glitching out and a [[HellIsThatNoise shrill electronic beeping]] overtakes the music.

** White Diamond, an entity that the story had treated as an infallible PhysicalGod up to that point, is unnerved by Pink Steven. Not only because the truth that Pink Diamond ''is'' gone for good is thrown in her face, but also because its power NoSells everything she tries. Even when every possessed body in the room and herself fire on Pink Steven at once, he calmly shields against every attack without any effort before reflecting their attacks right back at them.

* Aquamarine convinces Topaz not to help Lars and Steven by ''threatening to shatter her component parts''.

* The very ''concept'' of being a Homeworld Gem is pure, undistilled NightmareFuel. From the moment you are born, you have to do the job you were made to do for the rest of your life. The smallest misstep or transgression can be grounds for your superiors deciding to [[FateWorseThanDeath shatter you.]] You can never take a different job, for fear of being shattered. You can never, ever step out of line, for fear of being shattered. Exploring your identity? [[IndividualityIsIllegal Becoming an individual? Thinking for yourself?]] Forming a relationship with another Gem? Thinking about anything other than serving Homeworld and your Diamond? You can forget it. Fusion, a symbol of an intimate bond between Gems, is forbidden except for utilitarian purposes, and fusing with a different Gem for any reason (even accidentally) is grounds for being shattered. And even if you do everything right, obey your superiors' every order, and remain loyal to Homeworld? You're ''still'' expendable, and you can still be shattered or worse, as shown by the fates of Lapis and the Gem monsters on Earth. And all of the above is assuming you weren't born with a defect and forced to flee to the underground catacombs, to live your whole life in fear of being shattered on sight. No wonder Rose and the Crystal Gems rebelled.

* Blue Diamond - ''[[AffablyEvil Blue Diamond]]'' - hurling a ball of energy at Steven while shouting "That's enough!", like an AbusiveParent using force to keep their child in line. It's a jarring contrast to her interactions with him in "Legs From Here to Homeworld" and "Familiar", and one could fear that Pink's belief that Blue doesn't really care about her is starting to become true.

* We've finally got our first true trailer for the movie, and HolyShitQuotient doesn't even begin to describe it. We get an even closer look at our antagonist, but aside from her appearance, [[NothingIsScarier we still know precious little about her]]- [[FromBadToWorse except for an idea of what her plans are]]. She makes her grand debut by crashing down onto Beach City with a ''huge'' Injector- and it apparently has enough to destroy Earth all on it's own, as Peridot states that the Crystal Gems have ''less than two days'' before all life on Earth is destroyed.

* Blue Diamond - ''[[AffablyEvil Blue Diamond]]'' - hurling a ball of energy at Steven while shouting "That's enough!", like an AbusiveParent using force to keep their child in line. It's a jarring contrast to her interactions with him in "Legs From Here to Homeworld" and "Familiar", and one could fear that Pink's belief that Blue doesn't really care about her is starting to become true. Connie is very lucky that ''her'' parents have changed.

* The whole concept of shattering a Gem. Gems are immortal, due to their bodies being projections coming from their gemstone, allowing them to regenerate easily enough when damaged. But if the stone itself is destroyed? They can no longer project a body, leaving them [[AndIMustScream trapped within their shards for eternity]], futilely trying to rejoin their gem while in perpetual agony. To make things worse, The Diamonds dole this out as their standard punishment, casually inflicting a FateWorseThanDeath onto any of their subjects who [[YouHaveFailedMe fail in their task]] or attempt to rebel against their authority.
* The Diamonds in general. They are quite ruthless, cold, cruel beings that rule over an empire and seem to have unimaginable power over most Gems. We've seen a case in which a subordinate slipped up and Blue Diamond demanded she be shattered. As if that weren't horrifying enough, they've unleashed a weapon upon the Earth that causes gems to be torn apart both in body and mind that's only been described as some kind of blinding flash of light.

** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jD7tHmC1MU "Yellow Diamond"]], the theme of the eponymous Diamond, which is first heard in her first on-screen appearance in Message Received. Whilst it mostly can't be heard much in its first appearance, the piece is ''incredibly'' creepy, starting with the general Diamond theme first heard in "Blue Diamond" (and later heard during the corrupting flash in Monster Reunion, which only serves to make it scarier), which seems to "glitch" before being replaced with an ominous droning. Eventually, an additional, lower droning sound can be heard alongside it, which grows louder and louder each time it's heard until it finally comes to a loud and sudden end, at which point the eeriness briefly stops until the song ends with a frightening crashing sound.
*** The music that plays during White Diamond's debut is droning but more ethereal, emphasizing how [[NonstandardCharacterDesign outlandish]] and [[DissonantSerenity unsettling]] she is.
** The second ending song used during quite a few of the episodes following Bubbled. "Love Like You" was calming and sweet, but in Season 4 the ending song has been replaced with some pretty weird strings in an otherwise silent background, but things take a turn into the ''extremely'' creepy in ''Three Gems and a Baby''. It keeps the tense strings, but adds a fast-paced, suspenseful piano music and something resembling gargled, distorted shrieks. And as of ''That Will Be All'', we hear another part, with loud creaking sounds, and ending on a ''very'' audible screeching sound as opposed to subtle ones.

* White Diamond ''removing Steven's gem'', to prove that Pink Diamond is still in there and that Steven's just a vessel. Steven is completely powerless to stop her, as White is holding him in her fist, and the nails she uses to grab onto the gem are almost as big as Steven himself. The way she's animated is UncannyValley on steroids, especially how distorted [[http://moonlightsdreaming.tumblr.com/post/182307716287/steven-universe-change-your-mind-now her face and fingers become]] when she goes to grab his gem.

** This already-unsettling situation isn't helped at all by this taking place while White is controlling the rest of the Crystal Gems along with the other Diamonds.
** The music in this scene is by far the most eerie sound we've ever gotten from this show, to the point where it seems to be comprised entirely of ScareChord[=s=]. It starts off as a low droning sound, with high-pitched screeching noises randomly thrown in. Then, once White Diamond actually grabs Steven's gem, a whole bunch of string instruments start playing loud, single notes, punctuating every horrific moment.
** Even worse, while it appears to just be a ShadowDiscretionShot, it's actually not. [[https://zelafella.tumblr.com/post/182268384178/mannnn-i-brightened-this-scene-and-i-thought-they Someone brightened the image]] and found that it was actually drawn in detail, with Steven's pained expression.
** Steven's state after she takes out his gem is pretty terrifying too. He's confused, in pain, and seems like he's just ''barely'' clinging on to life, breathing heavily and looking sickly. He's too weak to walk or even crawl, and is barely coherent as he cries and begs for his gem back. To see ''[[{{Keet}} Steven]]'' reduced to this state is nothing short of heartwrenching.
*** Consider Steven’s belly after his gem is removed: instead of a gaping hole like he’s suffered a major flesh wound, there’s simply nothing - no scar, no belly button, no sign that a gem was ever even there. On a subconscious level, this could feed into White Diamond’s argument that Steven is nothing more than a meat disguise for Pink Diamond to fool herself with, that Steven having a gem was nothing more than a fluke.
*** It's way worse than that. Consider he was in her hand high up in the air. She removes his gem and there is a smash to black. Next thing we see is Steven on the ground, with Connie over him in panic. WD '''dropped him on the floor without a second thought!''' He ''was'' dying from internal injuries sustained from the fall. Had he not recovered his gem to heal, he would have died right there.
** [[CreepyChild Pink Steven]]'s initial appearance is pretty unsettling, too: seeing Steven with such a blank expression is already pretty messed-up, but when White Diamond demands to know where Pink is, he replies with the most visceral sound we've ''ever'' heard in Steven's voice. And if you listen carefully, there's something echoing from the shout that sounds pitched down and outright [[HellIsThatNoise hellish]], like there's way more to that voice than the surface.

*** It's not just the pitch, it's the ''emotion''. You can feel the unfathomable grief, rage, and ''hatred'', the worst emotions possible, the ones antithetical to Steven as a person, all in that one scream. And there's that [[DissonantSerenity blank look]] on Pink Steven's face. This is what an unfeeling, unlimited Steven who does not hold back on his negative emotions looks like.
** White Diamond, an entity that the story had treated as an infallible PhysicalGod up to that point, is unnerved by Pink Steven. Not only because the truth that Pink Diamond ''is'' gone for good is thrown in her face, but also because its power NoSells everything she tries. Even when every possessed body in the room and herself fire on Pink Steven at once, he calmly shields against every attack without any effort before reflecting their attacks right back at them. Not only because it finally throws into her face the fact that Pink Diamond really ''is'' gone for good, but also because its sheer power - Steven's ''latent'' potential power presumably at max - completely pulls a NoSell on her own. Even when every single possessed body in the room and herself fire on Pink Steven at once, he just casually shields against every attack without any effort before reflecting their attacks right back at them. That scream above? He '''split the throne room''' before walking on the empty air above the crater it made like he was ignoring the rules of logic.
** On a metaphoric level, this is like an abused child, finally grown past their limits, no longer afraid, and using their new power to [[TheDogBitesBack pay back at their abusers]].

** Let's not forget what the first is the first thing we see after Steven's gem gets removed; Connie trying to wake Steven up from a first person view that ''only fills half the frame''. The other half fills in when Pink Steven appears, with the two halves showing what each Steven is seeing. Then Pink Steven hits ground, and the agonizingly slow turn to face Steven, and both Stevens seeing each other, wouldn't be out of place in a horror movie.
** Though it comes from a positive place, Pink Steven's relentless march towards Steven with the goal of reuniting with him is ''terrifying.'' He lets absolutely nothing or no-one get in his way, uncaring what gets damage or who gets hurt in the process since he's simply Steven without the emotions that ''make him Steven.'' If it weren't for his organic half's begging, he could've shattered someone.
* White Diamond's VillainousBreakdown also counts, given that she completely loses it and willing to do everything to force Pink Steven to her control. She uses all her power in a fit of rage and uses everyone she's controlling to do the same, along with the expressions.

** Between the voice acting, the phrasing and the context, White Diamond is on par with [[Disney/{{Tangled}} Mother Gothel]] as a fantasy version of an abusive, narcissistic parent. It's upsetting on its own, but there's a unique terror associated with being attacked by someone so with controlling you that not only have they decided to deliberately ''harm'' you, they will not allow you to attempt to ''reduce the damage they can inflict''.
* While it looks like White Diamond is heading towards redeeming herself, there's an uncomfortable amount of questions that are left lingering, and more are appearing about her MysteriousPast. She implies that somehow the other Diamonds are just LiteralSplitPersonalities of herself that she removed because she resented these personality flaws that make up who the others are.

* How about the fact that Pink Diamond had a freaking human zoo? And that the Crystal Gems were never able to save the poor humans... just what is it like now after thousand of years?

** Between the voice acting, the phrasing and the context, White Diamond is on par with [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Disney/Tangled Mother Gothel]] as a fantasy version of an abusive, narcissistic parent. It's upsetting on its own, but there's a unique terror associated with being attacked by someone so with controlling you that not only have they decided to deliberately ''harm'' you, they will not allow you to attempt to ''reduce the damage they can inflict''.

* Garnet and Peridot's near-fusion dance. At this point, Garnet is the only Crystal Gem Peridot has yet to become comfortable around. Homeworld's prejudices against fusion aside, she doesn't like her, understand her, or feel safe around her -- but suddenly, Garnet's proposing something ''very'' intimate, and Peridot's consent is not enthusiastic. At no point does her body language reflect anything approaching comfort, and while Garnet stops as soon as she gets a firm "no", their dance mostly involves her dragging Peridot around by the hands and locking her arms around her throat, telling her to "get ready." It's a very out-of-character moment for Garnet, and deeply uncomfortable.

** It gets even worse. This isn't just Steven screaming at White; this is Steven screaming at ''everyone'': Yellow, Blue, Homeworld, the Crystal Gems, and even [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou the fans]], that Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz is gone and dead, and he's sick of being asked where she is, or to become her, or to fix her mistakes, and he just wants everyone to just '''''SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT ALREADY'''''.

* Topaz' response to being attacked directly by Garnet? [[HumanShield Expose her torso with all the human hostages sticking out]]. Naturally, Garnet is stopped in her tracks and Topaz seizes the opportunity to counter-attack.
** The AdultFear is ''very'' strong in this episode, considering that most of the hostages are children. What's worse is that if Steven hadn't witnessed Connie's capture firsthand, likely no one would have had any idea what happened to Connie, Lars, Sadie, Jamie and Onion. The Crystal Gems only become aware of Aquamarine and Topaz's presence on Earth when Steven tells them. Had Steven not been with Connie at the time they might have simply taken her and the others off to Homeworld without a trace.

** The AdultFear is ''very'' strong in this episode, considering that most of the hostages are children.

* The build-up to the whole plot begins seemingly innocuously, with Steven waiting for a package and the mailman failing to turn up. Then Steven bumps into Sour Cream handing out missing posters of Onion and learns that he hasn't been seen for at least two days. Then he can't find Lars and Sadie and finds Bard instead, who tells him that she never came home last night. Barb doesn't begin to worry until Steven . His and Barb slowly coming to the realisation that at least four people have gone missing without a trace is very unsettling and eerily reminiscent of real-life disappearances.

* The [[http://i.imgur.com/f16hP4i.png face Garnet makes]] when Steven accidentally slaps off her shades, accompanied by a discordant ScareChord. Brrr...
