* In the remake, Margaux takes revenge on her husband's behalf by cursing the assailant to wake up during open chest surgery to treat his own gunshot wound. As the doctors say, there is ''no natural explanation for waking up'' under such large amounts of general anesthetic. Not only this, but it's clear that he's feeling the intense amounts of pain with no anaesthesia left in his system and his '''bloody innards wide open'''. He soon dies, and the viewer is left rather shocked that such levels of gorn were allowed on televised broadcast.[[note]]This utter lack of subtlety is why the original ''Rosemary's Baby'' is in a class by itself.[[/note]]

* Just put yourself in Rosemary's shoes: You're a young girl from Nebraska in the big city, you meet a handsome and charming man and before you know it, you're married, in a luxury apartment and expecting a baby. It all sounds too good to be true, right? Then you gradually start to notice strange things, the neighbors next door seem just a bit ''too'' interested in your pregnancy and people around you keep dying and you eventually realize the full situation but are utterly helpless to escape.

Nightmare Fuel is for things that are legitimately scary, not for stuff that may leave a couple of viewers uncomfortable.

* It's a more mundane example than the others, but any viewer with social anxiety will cringe at the Castavets' complete lack of personal boundaries, even before they're revealed to be Satanists.

Speculation; this stuff isn't even in the film to begin with.

* [[spoiler:Terry commits suicide rather than become the slave of Satan.]] But consider that by the metaphysical rules of this world, Satan is a real entity, we can extrapolate that all the other trappings of organized religion are also true, meaning that [[spoiler:suicides may be condemned to hell and that Terry will have to face Satan's eternal wrath for defying him. On the other hand, if they told her they wanted her to have Satan's baby, she literally saved the world by jumping out that window, meaning she'll go to heaven, or to purgatory then heaven. Giving your life to help or protect others is not considered suicide in the same sense. That's why Fr. Karras will go to heaven in ''Literature/TheExorcist''.]]
