* The Mu Phase of anyone of Mulian heritage, which their blood turns blue and results in memory loss.
** Made worse by the fact that almost everyone is a Mulian due to that [[FridgeHorror they're related to each other by blood or adoption]], meaning that many of them ended up going the Mu Phase.

* The Dolems in general. They all have a very unsettling appearance that places them in the [[UncannyValley uncanny valley]]. The [[HellIsThatNoise horrible sounds]] they make combined with their [[BodyHorror body horror]] makes things worse.

* Let's talk about [[DeusExMachina Mishima]] for a minute: she's actually a cosmic force named Ixtli. Think of a more benevolent version of [[Literature/{{IT}} Pennywise the Dancing Clown]] but with, ironically, creepier powers. It can manipulate people's memories and bend them to it's every whim. That may not sound so bad, but imagine what would happen [[FridgeHorror if]] ''[[FridgeHorror you]]'' [[were caught in it's sights.]]

It is no doubt [[SugarWiki/AwesomeMoments awesome]], but it's also terrifying, especially from the dolem's perspective.

''[=RahXephon=]'' is, simply put it as, ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' but with the dysfunction, despair, and Kaballah and Judeo-Christian allusions replaced with transcendence and revelation, with musical imagery and Mayan lore added to the mix, and inspiration from ''{{Anime/Raideen}}'' and science fiction literature such as ''TheDandelionGirl'', to produce a result that is thematically the total opposite to the bleakness of Evangelion's climax. Despite those, the series is not without its terrifying moments.

** [[spoiler: It gets worse: throughout the ordeal, she's desperately trying to send messages to him explaining what's happening, but he's so single-mindedly fixated on destroying the Dolem that he fails to notice, all the time believing that he's protecting her.]]
** Also in the same moment where his eyes become [[RedEyesTakeWarning red]] and [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glow]].
