[[WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids And they did a damn good job at being scary.]] Between the [[NightmareFace ghastly zombified faces]] of the characters, and the '''[[HellIsThatNoise ungodly sounds]]''' playing, it's a miracle there wasn't any real backlash to these.

** Noggin's is arguably the scariest. After the mascot tells you that he's going outside to play, he walks offscreen and you're treated to hours of a school background. The ambient noises are creepy, consisting of water drops, squeaking, and kids cheering. Yes, ''Noggin,'' the ''preschooler's'' channel, had this one.
** Nicktoons has a completely black screen with the Worldwide Day of Play logo. Below that is a scrolling message saying that you should go out to play because the message will keep repeating.
** The N's screen isn't completely black like Nicktoons, but it does have some strange ambiance, consisting of muffled childrens' voices, birds chirping, and occasional screams of excitement.

Nickelodeon released a PublicServiceAnnouncement supporting an end to PoliceBrutality, symbolically running an ad for the same amount of time that Floyd was asphyxiated for. Though there is soothing music, the realistic sounds played in this bumper is what makes it just unsettling and eerie. The sound of an baby laughing being played in this bumper makes it much worse.

After 10 seconds of chirping birds, there would be [[JumpScare a female announcer voice coming out of nowhere]] going "It is now 6PM. Noggin is over for today. But you can see more Noggin tomorrow and every day from 6AM to 6PM on TV and any time on Noggin.com". Thankfully, in 2005, they changed the bumper and excluded the announcer. It was probably due to some kids being frightened by the bumper.
* Nick Jr.'s idents aren't normally freaky, with the exception being the so-called [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-dm4P44WxU Spooky Night]], involving a scared boy hiding under his cover, noticing an angry cat arching its back and a bird flying past his window, accompanied by suspenseful music until the boy notices two cats under his bed (an orange cat with "NICK" on it and a blue cat with "JR." on it). The cat's screeching doesn't help either, with it sounding '''WAY''' too loud. It was '''SO''' loud, that the bumper ended up being canned by 1992.
