* The Spookyraven Manor revamp in May 2014 added tons of new content, including two new sidequests, the Lady Spookyraven quest and the Lights Out quest, which was itself into two parts, Elizabeth and Stephen. The Lady Spookyraven quest involves the usual monster-fighting and fetch-questing shenanigans, and Elizabeth's half of the Lights Out quest is fairly tame, Stephen's quest is downright disturbing. [[spoiler: First, you discover that part of the reason [[ChronicPetKiller his pets kept dying]] is because he ''practiced surgery'' on them [[CreepyChild as a kid]]. You later find Stephen took up taxidermy, and some of his later experiments got... [[MixAndMatchCritters weird]]. Things get even weirder when you find a hidden laboratory with signs that Stephen [[MadScientist tried this on]] ''[[MadScientist living animals]]'', and eventually succeeded by transplanting a brain from ''[[NoodleIncident somewhere]]'' into a wolf's body. Eventually, you find a code to a machine in the laboratory on the third floor, and find out what happened to Stephen: he ''[[ProfessorGuineaPig fused himself with his "patients"]]'' so they could be together again, and you just brought the resulting belligerent mish-mash of animal and human parts back to life. While The Lady spookyraven quest and Elizabeth's quest is the regular shenanigans, Stephan's quest falls straight into nightmare fuel. It starts in the bedroom where you can [[spoiler: find a note from lady spookyraven talking about his "patients" and how he wants more equipment, saying he keeps the key too his lockbox with his teddy bear. If you go too his nursery and look in his lockbox, you will find a diary detailing his "patients", each and every one of them dying. It also says he is going to bury "crumbles", saying he doesn't want want to let him go but "papa said he had an idea though". Visit the conservatory after this, and you can dig up Crumble's grave and find a headless wolf skeleton, leading to you going to the billiards room and finding multiple stuffed heads, starting with Crumbles and going on, increasing in quality until eventually they begin to get... [[BodyHorror weird]]. Go too the wine cellar after this, and you can find a hidden room containing multiple large glass jars with mutated animals and notes detailing what had happened, such as a cat who's heart and legs had been replaced with that of a boar... Until you get too "Crumbles II" Who had his brain replaced with that of... Something scribbled out, and it lived until eventually they put it down as a result of it becoming aggressive, and cremating him, ending with a message saying that despite this setback, he is on the right track and will soon never have to bid a friend farewell.Go to the boiler room and search the ash barrels after this and you will find a dog collar reading "Crumbles II" and the numbers "23-47-99". The last part of this quest is in the laboratory, where you can examine some machines and find a large tank covered by a white sheet with leather straps too tie it down, with the power switch locked down with a six-digit combination lock. Enter the code you found earlier and turn it on, and a loud roar will come from the machine, and than a creature will break the glass and tear open the white cloth, and than you will fight Stephan Spookyraven, who [[BodyHorror FUSED HIMSELF WITH HIS "PATIENTS"]] so he could be with them forever. ]]

The skeleton has another, smaller skeleton hanging just below its ribcage. Like the skeleton of a monkey, or... or... a doll. Yes, that must be what it is. A doll skeleton. Which is jeering and clacking its little teeth at you.

[[spoiler:The Caliginous Abyss]] has you fighting {{Eldritch Abomination}}s that [[http://cdn.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/images/c/c3/Darkeye.gif look somewhat reminscent]] of the later levels of ''VideoGame/{{Eversion}}'', and there are ominous sights and messages at the end of battles. Monsters in this zone drop items that work as buff potions. The descriptions of both the items and their effects are short and unsettling, in contrast to the usual humorous messages.

Not meeting the [[GuideDangIt fairly steep requirements]] to [[ThatOnePuzzle solve the various puzzles]] can result in horrifying scenarios were the player is [[spoiler:molested and chased by an angry undead corpse woman, [[SealedRoomInTheMiddleOfNowhere trapped in a large food pantry]], or stuck following ghostly music into a creepy painting.]] Only to end up stranded back outside in the cold after each adventure ends and forced to make their way back through the hedge maze yet again. Granted, knowing a little about [[TwinPeaks the]] [[TheShining works]] being parodied helps take a bit of the edge off, but not much.
