* The episode "Animal Attack" in which we are introduced to the Antibody Coralians. The Coralians seem to be passive if not friendly, so that couldn't be that bad, right? Wrong. [[spoiler: The antibodies are some sort of vestigial defense mechanism that the Scub Coral has, and Dewey intentionally activates it by bombing huge chunks of coral. Whenever the coral is damaged enough, it involuntarily spawns ''millions'' of eyeball covered StarfishAliens who mercilessly try to wipe out all life in the area. We see people trying to cower in homes, run away, or fight back, but it's all in vain. If not for the fact they can only last about 20 minutes after the injury was first inflicted, they could easily wipe out humanity. And as for the Coral and Coralians they cannot seem to stop themselves from spawning antibodies even though all they desire is to communicate with mankind, so they can do nothing but watch in horror as their bodily functions undo years of diplomatic efforts.]]

* In the episode "Paper Moon Shine", we're treated to a flashback from Eureka's point of view, detailing the destruction she caused as an SOF member. At one point her Nirvash is disabled by a group of civilians, and when they think they've managed to stop her she gets out of the cockpit and mows them all down with a machine gun. Not only is it disturbing to see Eureka be so utterly emotionless, but when she is inspecting the bodies she kicks a couple over. Underneath she finds [[spoiler: Maeter, Maurice and Linck, the children she herself orphaned, looking utterly traumatized]]. It's worth noting that this is what prompted her HeelFaceTurn.

* The episode "Into the Nature" also serves as our introduction to [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant Anemone]] and the type theEND. When Renton and Eureka try to enter the Coralion with the Nirvash, theEnd swoops down and attacks them. It finally catches the Nirvash in its claws, allowing Renton to see that the two mechs look shockingly alike. Anemone then unleashes TheEND's MindRape WaveMotionGun, causing Renton and Eureka to scream in pain and beg her to stop. Anemone only makes things worse as she squeals psychotically.

* In the episode "Opposite View" Renton, Eureka and Anemone begin having a synchronized dream of sorts. It starts of with Renton apologizing to Eureka and confessing his feelings to her as they sit in a vast, white room. When Renton asks her if she is ignoring him, they look up and see the face of the typeTheEnd. The room goes black, and blood pours from the ceiling before TheEND's mask falls off, revealing Anemone's face displaying a frightening SlasherSmile. When she tries to attack Eureka, Renton suddenly transforms into the Nirvash and fights Anemone off, pushing her back into the ceiling as she screams and wails. To cap off all of the MindScrew, Eureka tells Renton that she heard everything he told her in the dream.

* NightmareFuel: Renton's demonic-level rampage in Episode 20. After being sent into an AngstComa brought on by hatred towards Holland, feelings for Eureka, and hate towards his immaturity, Renton has the mother-of-all-freakouts as enemy mechs are swarming him. He goes into a FoeTossingCharge, maiming, bisecting, gutting, slicing, and smashing every single machine roaring toward him. Worse, Nirvash is soon sporting ''[[RedEyesTakeWarning RED EYES FROM HELL]]''.

*** Nah, the scene where THEEND rips out a Coralian's insides gave it the TV-MA rating. Graphic bloody violence is more likely to get it that rating than psychological torture.

Nightmare Fuel cleanup; see the thread for details

* Renton brutally kills and mutilates an enemy LFO at [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDTqN6d55w8&feature=related the end of Episode 20.]] During this beatdown, Renton hallucinates an amorphous blob descending the cliff right up to the cockpit. The blob then opens its "mouth" to reveal [[spoiler:Renton's face.]] Renton suitably unleashes a bloodcurdling scream and [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Nightmare_6_5445.PNG loses it.]] (And Yes. THAT was the Former picture of the Anime NightmareFuel section.)

* Anemone is a manifestation of NightmareFuel. From her [[CrazyConsumption disturbing ways of eating jam]] to being obsessively dependent on drugs, one can't help but be horrified watching her in the series.

** But wait! [[ItGotWorse It gets worse!]] After smashing the LFO into bloody oblivion, Renton sees the dismembered arm of the pilot he just killed, wedding band still on the finger. Only then does he realize that he was killing ''people'' all this time. The result? [[VomitDiscretionShot Well...]]
* The sequence where Dominic watches how they intend to make a replacement for [[spoiler: Anemone]], which fails horribly.
** It's worth noting that that scene earned that episode (and only that episode) a TV-MA rating in the US. [[SarcasmMode Can't imagine why...]]
*** Nah, the scene where THEEND rips out a Coralian's insides gave it the TV-MA rating. Graphic bloody violence is more likely to get it that rating than psychological torture.
