** The Human Cutie Mark Crusaders will never live down their cyberbullying of Sunset Shimmer. The comic's resolution was a OnceDoneNeverForgotten moment -- the Human CMC [[HeelRealization fully own up to and apologize for creating Anon-A-Miss and framing Sunset for it]] over what amounts to [[GreenEyedMonster petty jealousy]]. It was also mentioned that the CMC could [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome never fully take it back, since they couldn't magically delete everything everyone had posted]], and they received six months of detention for it. Meanwhile, the fandom saw the Human CMC as being more EasilyForgiven than their pony selves despite [[AdaptationalVillainy being more antagonistic]], despite that detention possibly being the harshest punishment any redeemed villain has received in the franchise. So both the canon ''and'' fanon pull this trope; the fandom just double-downs on it by [[DisproportionateRetribution making their punishments in fan fiction even more severe]].

* Starswirl the Bearded is very often remembered as the guy who deals with villains by banishing them other dimensions and making them other people's problems to deal with. In canon, this only occurred on one of the three occasions where he dealt with a villain -- he banished the Sirens in this manner, while he locked the Pony of Shadows outside of any dimension or time alongside himself and simply befriended Scorpan -- but very often he remains remembered as the guy whose go-to solution for problems is to dump them in other people's backyards.

* Sonata Dusk from ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsRainbowRocks Rainbow Rocks]]'' excitedly says "It's Taco Tuesday!" once in the film. The result: nearly every fan art of her including tacos or a reference to them. One could also swear Sonata Dusk's CatchPhrase was "for realsies", despite saying it a grand total of ''once'' throughout all ''My Little Pony'' media in which she appeared.

Stealth complaining.

* Some people are ''never'' going to let poor Twilight live down her scolding of the Cutie Mark Crusaders in "Marks for Effort" after Cozy Glow intentionally failed her test. Never mind that she amended the mistake not long after.

Super OCD is no longer a trope. Moving examples to other tropes when applicable.

* Twilight will ''never'' live down her SanitySlippage in "Lesson Zero". In fairness, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKkA7JJS6bM it was terrifying]]. However, not only did Twilight have some basis for Sanity Slippage in "Swarm of the Century", but she did it again in "It's About Time". She's also had a few smaller breakdowns when she's stressed, and her SuperOCD that leads to such slippage is shown to be a recurring character flaw that she routinely works on (such as "Games Ponies Play"). But to look at some fanart, Twilight was a loose cannon just waiting to go off at any moment.

** Some fans won't let the rest of the Rainbooms live down turning on Sunset Shimmer when she was framed for being Anon-A-Miss, even though the Rainbooms defended Sunset before doing so and ultimately heard her out. Many fics, be they {{Fix Fic}}s or {{Betrayal Fic}}s, paint the Rainbooms as being awful people for not believing Sunset in spite of the evidence pointing towards her, even if the evidence was fake. The impostor account seems obvious to the audience, but that's because [[DramaticIrony the audience knows things that the characters don't know]]. Also, Sunset's "[[InformedAbility devious manipulation skills]]" in the first movie were just as obvious, and the fact that her attempts were transparently obvious were a major source of mockery towards Sunset Shimmer before she became a BreakoutCharacter.

** Some fans won't let the rest of the Rainbooms live down turning on Sunset Shimmer when she was framed for being Anon-A-Miss, even though the Rainbooms did try to defend Sunset before doing so and ultimately hear her out. Many fics, be they {{Fix Fic}}s or {{Betrayal Fic}}s, paint the Rainbooms as being awful people for not believing Sunset, despite having good reasons for not trusting Sunset (as some of these fics even point out). There appeared to be solid evidence against her -- yes, the impostor account seems obvious to the older half of the fandom, but Sunset's "[[InformedAbility devious manipulation skills]]" in the first movie were just as obvious, and was a major source of mockery towards Sunset before she became a beloved BreakoutCharacter.
** Sunset Shimmer herself has become known quite a bit for this issue, despite being the victim and forgiving the Human CMC at the end of the story. To see some {{Fix Fic}}s or {{Betrayal Fic}}s tell it, Sunset will never get over being framed for being Anon-A-Miss by the Human CMC or for her friends betraying her. Even though Sunset [[NotMeThisTime truly was innocent in the cyberbullying]], her reputation still had a long way to go before she was accepted by the rest of Canterlot High School, and Sunset openly admits she can see why people think it was her. Yet to hear some fanfics tell it, Sunset is incredulous that her friends wouldn't believe her (even though the Rainbooms did defend Sunset at first until evidence pointed towards her), [[RonTheDeathEater demonizing the Rainbooms]] while sanctifying Sunset. Some fics even have Sunset be DrivenToSuicide by the accusation, in spite of the fact that she ends the comic in a good place with the Rainbooms. Even fan works that don't revolve around the Anon-A-Miss story have been known to bring it up.

This is on top of her causing the episode's conflict by making Big Macintosh lose his voice in a Turkey-Call Contest -- thus ensuing he can't sing in the upcoming concert -- and then [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown showing up solely]] to [[UnsportsmanlikeGloating mock him about it, then leave]]. Even after redeeming herself in episodes like "Maud Pie" and "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows", several fans still have beef with her over it; despite Pinkie having been InnocentlyInsensitive to other ponies in previous episodes and never receiving any fan flak for it. That said, a lot of viewers felt that in said previous (and later) instances, she never did it with such malice.

Expanded on the "Filli Vanilli" bit to include Pinkie also being the cause of the episode's conflict, and also a rationalisation for the last bit.

* Pinkie Pie being a sadistic serial killer who may or may not have severe childhood trauma, based on her SanitySlippage in "Party of One", compounded by a [[FanFic/{{Cupcakes}} certain infamous fanfic]]. Never mind that in the episode she was, at most, bipolar/manic depressive, which is many times more likely to result in ''self''-harm than any violent tendencies. While Pinkie has certainly been sad before, she's largely remembered for this one time where she temporarily shut herself from everyone else.

Cleanup. NLID is these defining fan portrayals of the character (Twilight regularly resorting to theft, Novo regularly being hostile, Storm King being an idiot), which isn't the case.

[[folder:The Movie]]
* Some fans will never forget Twilight going behind her friends' backs and attempting to steal Queen Novo's Pearl of Transformation. Never mind the whole plot of the movie up to then was to drive her to that MomentOfWeakness, or that Novo and her entire race have forgiven Twilight and view her as a hero for the ultimate outcome of her actions next they meet.
** Queen Novo undergoes this for punishing Twilight's friends when the latter acted alone. [[FourthWallMyopia From her perspective]] she welcomed these seven people into her safely guarded home and they reward this by trying to steal from her. What's more is that Twilight makes it look like her friends were trying to distract everyone so she could steal the Pearl. She really does have every right to be annoyed.
** The Storm King gets called a weak villain by a lot of fans for his final moments, ignoring that he did enslave all of Canterlot and several other nations - even forcing an entire kingdom into hiding because he was too powerful. It's just that a lot of this was done off screen or only done under his command - so it's easy for people to forget that Tempest Shadow did all her cool villainy at his instruction. Plus, at TheClimax of the film, he actually wasn’t one to go down so easily, as both Twilight and Tempest, as the latter pulls a HeelFaceTurn, almost die to defeat him.

* Discord disgusing himself as Grogar and being behind all the villains' actions has garnered a lot of backlash against him. This is despite his using villains to test the heroes [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E1TheCrystalEmpirePart1 being identical to what Princess Celestia had done throughout the series]], this is just the first time it backfired.[[note]]The difference is Celestia merely used existing threats while Discord took villains who were no longer threats and handed them opportunity to become worse threats, which overlooks Celestia's own plans [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E26TwilightsKingdomPart2 causing similar harm when backfiring]].[[/note]] Also that Discord was [[WellIntentionedExtremist wholly well-intentioned]] unlike [[DogKickingExcuse his prior moments]]. He planned to be a safety net to keep the villains from being too dangerous, the arrogance that led to this disaster [[FatalFlaw is a well-established part of his character]]. He had a {{Heroes Frontier Step}} risking his own life to help fix this the following episode. The backlash he got over King Sombra destroying the Elements/Tree of Harmony tends to overlook that was NOT part of the deal made with Sombra, Discord showed them they didn't need the Tree or Elements to use their power, and that Discord was never shown aware the Tree was sapient. Discord's plan also actually worked, {{The Extremist Was Right}}.
