This leads to the word "damn" being used in ridiculous quantity by several characters (including ''Sonic himself'' at one point), which sounds like a twelve-year-old trying to be cool and edgy. * After beating ''VideoGame/SonicBoom'''s first wave of enemies early on, the following cutscene shows Sonic and the gang outnumbered by Metal Sonic and his army of robots, only for the latter group to get hit with a bad case of BondVillainStupidity and approach no faster than marching pace, giving the heroes more than enough time to escape into the ancient temple behind them. The ''real'' source of Narm, however, is the way Metal goes after Sonic before getting locked out by the temple gate at the last moment; what is clearly meant to be a no-nonsense, "You will not evade me" OminousWalk ends up looking like an awkwardly frantic ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej0UhP2o7-w#t=1m51s powerwalk]]'' instead, as if Metal desperately [[PottyEmergency needs to take an oil leak]]. Not helped by how he very obviously freezes up in his animation before the screen turns back to Sonic putting his fists up and then the gate closing on Metal’s face.

** The cover for issue #155 with Sonic angsting over Sally's marriage while crying alone in some undisclosed dark room. Even if Sonic wasn't a CelibateHero to begin with, the drama would still come off as way over-the-top and more suitable to something like a soap opera.

** The Shadow Androids themselves are just low-poly versions of Shadow's character model, like the game itself couldn't muster the effort to actually care about rendering them.

** And let's not forget, said panel happens as a result of Sally accusing Sonic of being [[MoralMyopia "so selfish."]] And why? For having to [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies prioritise protecting the world and their loved ones from Robotnik]] as opposed to [[ItsAllAboutMe calling it all off to settle down with her]], despite him taking the time to sincerely apologise and rationally explain why they can't get married ''yet'' beforehand. Notably, he [[NiceJobBreakingItHero only gets just as angry back when she hits him]] and insults his entire worldview and motivations; downplaying them to him only caring about "punching out Robotnik's lights". The [[{{Hypocrite}} whole setup]] -- especially combined with her aforementioned [[OffModel bizarre faces]] and [[TookALevelInJerkass radical change in personality out of nowhere]] with little-to-no buildup -- just makes Sally look ''[[SanitySlippage incredibly]]'' [[SanitySlippage unhinged]] and impossible to take seriously. It's no wonder why [[OldShame she hates being reminded]] of it In-Universe after her eventual CharacterRerailment.

* During the final boss of Sonic's story, Eggman will occasionally yell "Fall!", sounding less like an evil genius trying to kill you and more like a little kid who was one pin away from getting a strike in bowling. And then there is his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrhbwgOfs-Q#t=6m44s infamous defeat animation]]; Eggman ejecting from his hovering vehicle, still attached to his seat, then ''slooowly'' plummeting from the air before bouncing off a falling piece of debris, all animated in a very lazy manner befitting a StylisticSuck animation.

** In the two-parter ''Blast to the Past'', the catalyst which causes Sonic to bemoan the war against Robotnik is the loss of two freedom fighters. Specifically, a generic horse and bear. It doesn’t help that these two characters only appear in this episode and are never seen or heard from again. Yet Sonic takes their loss exceedingly hard.

* Doomsday Zone is a dramamtic and epic conclusion to ''VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles'', but the sound of your character going [[SuperMode super]] sounds like a rather childish, out of place, and anticlimatic slide whistle.

* G.U.N. consitently refers to the Black Arms as "terrorists" when they're just standard alien invaders. An attempt to makes the game more current for the post 9-11 world just makes it laughable.

* The FinalBoss is hyped up throughout the game, but when you finally battle them, their appearance is [[spoiler:a big purple moon with no discerning features, despite being played up as an incomprehensible EldritchAbomination otherwise.]] It can be hard to take seriously, akin to [[spoiler:the giant Phantom Ruby sun]] from ''Forces''. Combined with it being an AntiClimaxBoss, and some view it as one of the least impressive [[FinalBoss final bosses]] in Sonic's history.

* A number of people seem to share the consensus that everything with Tails' personal plot, where he [[spoiler:feels an OldShame about the infamous "cowering from Chaos 0" scene above, and outright [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall calls himself "wildly inconsistent"]] in reference to his [[DemotedToExtra own characterization after his past heroics]]]], might as well be Sega and Creator/IanFlynn taking a megaphone and shouting how blatantly aware they are of a decade's worth of concerns for the kid. While some feel this scene [[CharacterRerailment fixes]] Tails' character, others would prefer that the series would simply move past his flawed portrayals rather than need to justify them in-universe, especially since they occurred as a result of poor writing out-of-universe rather than being the fault of Tails himself.

* The sheer ridiculousness of the scene in which Classic Sonic is reintroduced. Tails finds E-123 Omega and is unable to fix him -- despite previously being established to [[GadgeteerGenius be capable of truly insane technological feats]], so [[ForgotAboutHisPowers really, it should be second nature]] to someone like him by then -- and then being attacked by a clone of Chaos 0. Considering Tails [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure previously fought and beat the much stronger Chaos 4]], no sweat for him, right? '''''[[EpicFail Wrong]]'''''. Instead, it leads to probably ''the'' most emblematic proof of Tails' BadassDecay, needing Classic Sonic to dramatically save him from a foe he could easily beat alone anywhere else.
