* The conservative forces of the True Brothers of Faith are supposed to be characters the heroes are trying to reason with, despite setting riots and assassination attempts on Aymeric. Then their leader in 3.1 [[WouldHurtAChild attempts to murder a child hostage]] while sporting the most ''obscene'' SlasherSmile the game's limited graphics for the time could offer, so an extremist faction borne of the Warrior and Aymeric being forced to push changes in Ishgard too fast instantly flips over into an AxCrazy strawman group that are unconditionally and comically [[EvilIsPetty pathetically spiteful]], deflating the entire tension to cartoon villains getting their due punishment.

** A lot of lalafell have a little animation where they throw a little tantrum. The problem is, this plays on almost everyone - and it makes it very hard to take seriously when someone is simply flustered but is throwing a tantrum.

Added DiffLines:

* Au Ra men have a particularly ''goofy'' run cycle that many people have compared to ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot''.

Added DiffLines:

* This can actually be invoked by simply playing an Au Ra. Yugiri was originally the first Au Ra that players met (as the race was not added until ''Heavensward'') so she concealed herself since many people in this part of the world have never seen an Au Ra. However, this will still happen despite the hundreds of Au Ra running around and even if the warrior of light ''is an Au Ra themselves'' with a lore-appropriate name. This becomes quite hilarious and makes one wonder if Yugiri FailedASpotCheck.

Added DiffLines:

* The game attempts to hand-wave the existence of other players by implying they are adventurers. While it makes sense for ''most'' of the world (ie, cities), sometimes seeing other players running around just becomes unintentionally funny when you think about it for one minute - such as for example distant areas in ''Heavensward'' or remote parts of Ala Mhigo in ''Stormblood''. It gets even ''more'' funny in ''Shadowbringers'' in that the world seemed utterly ''thriving'' with the amount of people running around. Endwalker on the other hand takes the cake - running into people ''on the moon'' or literally ''in the furthest known reaches of outer space'' when the story presents you and the Scions as the only one(s) there can come off as hilarious.
* Many players invoke this thanks to the use of goofy glamours and silly names - It can become quite humorous to see a character with a lore-appropriate name and a Roleplayer in the same group as someone named "Po'Tato Chip" or "[[PunnyName Jed I Knight]]"... and a [[ExposedToTheElements slutty glamour]] in the middle of an icy dungeon.

Misuse of Narm. Narm is unintended comedy during non-comedic moments, and many of these are either "funny design" or intentionally doing something funny.

* Ala Mhigo are WarRefugees who suffer discrimination at the hands of Ul'dah, but it can be hard to take their plight seriously when they all dress like MachoCamp {{Leathermen}}, including the women.

** The fight against [[GreenEyedMonster Nero]] is supposed to be something of a dramatic duel between him and the Warrior of Light's party, but his tank buster attack, "Spine Shatter", is one of the few in the entire game that requires the boss to actually be in physical contact range with the target. Since some of his attacks involve movement, a player can unintentionally make the fight look silly by having Nero chase after them to hit them with the attack. A particularly bored Tank might consequently sprint like hell -- leading to Nero having a sped-up normal jogging animation rapidly following after someone running for their life around the arena as he wastes his time trying to smack them until he can finally catch up.

* Adding materia to weapons and armor can be done by the player after completing a certain quest as a Disciple of the Hand. This would make perfect sense for some classes, such as a Blacksmith or an Armorer. But it's a little silly to think that a Culinarian is somehow adding materia to giant axes, broadswords, plate mail, etc. by cooking it with a frying pan.

* Dark Knight carries a {{BFS}} that they wield in an overhand-forward pose to look somewhat intimidating, like they're about to be a human guillotine. Then they have to run and sprint- and awkwardly keep the blade up in the most stiff, unusual animation possible, as if they're afraid to let the weapon down in any meaningful way whatsoever that doesn't have them constantly keep it near their idle posture. Similarly, Machinists are cited by some players as looking more like they're holding a vacuum cleaner than they are a {{BFG}} depending on the weapon, similarly refusing to lift the gun up from their side at least until their sprint.

Several of these aren't narm but saying something is funny without discussing why it isn't meant to be. Some are also "funny outfits or gameplay quirks".

* Just before fighting the FinalBoss of the Praetorium, your Warrior of Light talks on their linkpearl with Cid about the upcoming fight. During this conversation, another player will be standing behind your Warrior, and will eventually make an awkward look towards the left side of the screen, where there is nothing in particular to look at. It turns what should be a pivotal cutscene into an unintentionally funny one because of how out-of-place it is.

* Another "A Realm Reborn" mission has you dress as an imperial soldier. Unfortunately the disguise only includes a hat and a chestpiece, meaning you can enter wearing either a skimpy pink skirt or pied piper pants. Or worse - pastel underwear with ''thigh high'' pastel boots.
* Playing a few class quests after major events can be ''quite'' amusing when you have characters you've ''already met'' introduce themselves to you, or suddenly forget who you are:
** The Culinarian Quests for "A Realm Reborn" involve meeting Lolorito and Nanamo. These characters will react to you as if you've never met them before. For extra hilarity? Do this after "The Parting Glass" which ends ''A Realm Reborn''. Apparently, your cooking is so good that Nanamo will wake up from her poison-induced coma to go to a banquet in Limsa Lominsa to try it.
** If you didn't start as a Lancer, Estinien will introduce himself to you and act as if he doesn't know you even if you've played all the way to ''Endwalker'', meaning he knows ''quite'' well.
* Frankly, multiple of the gathering or crafting quests features them looking over what you just found or made with their hands over them.

* Zenos's death is somewhat of an AlasPoorVillain moment when he decides [[BetterToDieThanBeKilled to slit his own throat]], thinking he would never feel this happy again... except [[BloodlessCarnage Square-Enix refused to do put in any blood]], meaning it looks like Zenos just hugged a prop sword and fell down like a stage actor faking his death.
** This also unintentionally ends up making the plot point of Elidibus possessing Zenos's body somewhat humorous - both because Zenos apparently never even broke the skin, but mere ''moments'' after you witnessed Zenos's death, there he apparently is in Varis's chamber no worse for wear.
* Asahi's death is intended to be a satisfying moment, yet he apparently suffered absolutely no ClothingDamage despite being impaled by Yotsuyu as Tsukoyomi. This ends up making Fandaniel appearing in his body feel more like [[WhyDontYouJustShootHim they apparently didn't think to just cremate the bodies so this can't happen]].
* After banishing the Light from Il Mheg in the First, Emet-Selch appears at the Crystarium and will extol the incredible spectacle of the restored sky. Except, this doesn't take place in a prerendered cutscene, nor does the game adjust the skies for the sake of the cutscene (like with the two previous times Night was restored), so it shows the cities current weather condition at the time. Meaning there's a decent chance Emet-Selch will be praising the beauty of the sky while it's gray and muggy out, raining, or experiencing some other form of inclement weather.

* The animation for the Hum emote looks absolutely adorable when used by a Lalafell. On every other race... it looks ''really'' silly.

* All mounts have the capability of flying - a welcomed [[AntiFrustrationFeature QoL feature]]. Unfortunately? Most mounts look absolutely ''ridiculous'' when they're flying. Chocobos, birds, dragons, or miniature airships? All look perfectly fine. Mounts of creatures that can't fly such as horses, buffaloes, [[RodentsOfUnusualSize rats]], and pigs? All look absolutely ''ridiculous'' when they are flying. Some just seem to be clumsily running on air. While there are some mounts that look ridiculous, this [[IntendedAudienceReaction is intentional]]. ** You can max out the height for a Lalafell when making one, but the game generally uses the default height for all NPC Lalas and most players do the same. The result is still being super short for some of the more dramatic cutscenes -- but when you're next to other Lalafell, suddenly your Warrior of Light looks like an abnormally larger giant in comparison.

* [[LittlePeople Lalafell]] are meant to be some intentional levity in the world design, like their [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXI predecessors in the Tarutaru]]. The problem is the game crafts unique animations for the Lalafell interacting with taller characters or vice versa, since the Lalafell are only about half the size of the average Hyur at their tallest. The result is many Lalafell characters are hard to take seriously, either because of their smaller size or because some of these animations come off as unintentionally funny.

* Lalafell are meant to be some intentional bit of levity in the world design, like their [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXI predecessors in the Tarutaru]]. The problem is the story puts many of these Lalafell as [[OlderThanTheyLook full adults]] compared to the player characters, to the point of Yuyuhase having a BadassBaritone in the Japanese voices. The Ul'dah Lalafell are also notorious for being corrupt and giving in to their vices. The result is story scenes involving several major Lalafell characters falling apart at the seams the moment it expects you to take a CardCarryingVillain or a SmugSnake at face value, committing utterly horrible crimes and sleazy behavior, while looking like an evil child with a moustache; meanwhile someone like Momodi at the Quicksand bar is infamous for having virtually half of the people that talk about her [[AbhorrentAdmirer really wanting her hand in marriage.]] It eventually crosses over into NarmCharm, almost entirely on the absurdity of how disarming they look, which is probably the point.
** Almost none of the cutscenes are properly rigged with a Lalafell Warrior of Light in mind, making the few that stand out (like Zenos and Asahi) ''really'' become that much more hilarious. But it gets better when the camera dramatically pans over to a character that comes up to everyone's thighs all the time as the savior of Eorzea, or if you happen to have a cutscene that has other players in the background like the Praetorium. Play a more normal-sized race while you're in a Lalafell party and observe as the camera almost entirely ''ignores'' and literally flies right over their heads.

* The end of the Tam-Tara Hard questline, "Corpse Groom". So you've destroyed the Avere monstrosity, cleansed the Deepcroft again, and seen Edda fall to her doom.

* The dramatic revelation that Thancred has been possessed by an Ascian is quite a twist -- up until the heroes fly away as Minfilia delivers with a DullMonotone not quite at a shouting volume, "Thancred, [[BigNo nooooo!]]" The voice acting can veer into ChewingTheScenery for the original ''A Realm Reborn'' content, but this moment in particular became a minor meme in its own right.

** The scene also manages to become rather silly if the Warrior of Light happens to be a [[LittlePeople Lalafell]], as the animations were very clearly not adjusted for the massive difference in size. Multiple blows from the Warrior appear to either miss entirely or have [[KungFuSonicBoom some sort of shockwave effect]], whilst at least one punch from Zenos that would have slugged any other race in the stomach instead [[NasalTrauma smashes the Warrior square in the nose.]]

* The end of the Tam-Tara Hard questline, "Corpse Groom". So you've destroyed the Avere monstrosity, cleansed the Deepcroft again, and seen Edda fall to her doom. Paiyo is pretty much ready to hang up his adventuring spurs for good after all that, and then... he glances over to a lighting fixture, and Edda is standing there. The animation for this is ''insanely'' creepy in the best way, and ends with "Edda" giving Paiyo an amazing SlasherSmile. It's all fantastically creepy and the highlight of the patch AND THEN!... the narm sets in with Paiyo's reaction. The devs clearly wanted to convey his complete horror, but between Paiyo being a lalafell to start with and Square kind of hitting the limits of what XIV's real-time facial animation tech and their current character models are capable of, his expression is more "ridiculous" than terrified and pulls the viewer out of an otherwise stellar capstone to an excellent questline and dungeon.

* During the ''A Realm Reborn'' patch cycle, Raubahn gets fed up with the constant political infighting in Ul'dah and loudly announces to the spies he knows are listening that he will root out their masters and promises there will be a reckoning. Stirring music tries to hide it, but the scene is still a man angrily screaming at an empty room, complete with a wordless roar of fury, again, while completely alone. Instead of coming off as heroic and determined, Raubahn seems almost comically deranged.

Not sure why these were deleted, it's a perfectly fitting example of a serious moment that players found comical instead.

* In the final area, just about all of the Warrior of Light's companions perform some kind of a HeroicSacrifice so that you can keep moving forward. Unfortunately, they happen so rapidly that it stops becoming sad, and just becomes hilarious - especially when the characters [[MoodWhiplash start behaving so casually]] as they move on. Absolutely [[LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt nobody thought for a moment]] that they would be KilledOffForReal, yet the narration was trying to make it sound like you really were possibly saying goodbye forever.
** Y'shtola in particular acts so casual as she does it, mentioning the warrior can just use the crystal of Azem to bring them all back. She does it in such a way that it sounds more like someone saying "Just go on ahead - I'll catch up in a bit" rather than the words someone would make before a HeroicSacrifice. Almost like she was aware that they were making a ComicBookDeath.
*** And then Urianger joins in, almost like he just wants to get it over with.
** The MoodWhiplash of the warrior using the crystal and summoning Hythlodeus and Emet-Selch against Meteion, and when Emet-Selch decides to just bring everyone else back. After the emotional scenes before, instead it can come off as more humorous than sad or awesome, especially since the other Scions were probably "dead" for only a ''few minutes''.
