*Bitch fuck Danganronpa and its fans I hope they release exactly one more game and Komaeda marries a woman.A tweet from an unknown author which has since been ironically adopted by multiple other fandoms and repurposed to fir their respective fandoms.

* [=MeanForce1=]/Sayaka Guy Tobyn Jacobs, son of Jim Jacobs, the creator of Theatre/Grease, has gained a fair bit of Internet fame for his hobby of creating large cardboard cutouts of Sayaka Maizono, often jokingly labelled as the “most sane Danganronpa fan”, and garnering a lot of fascination for his dedication to a character who’s relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.

This has lead to him often being jokingly labelled as the “most sane Danganronpa fan”, and garnering a lot of fascination for his dedication to a character who’s relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.things. (He does also do the same with other anime characters and VirtualYouTuber[=s=], but Sayaka is the most common character he works with, hence why his fame is mostly focused on her)

* Give Mukuro her own sprites! Because Mukuro didn't get new sprite for the 10th anniversary prom artwork and in both the "Ultimate Talent Development Plan" and Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, she's in her Junko disguise, many fans have been campaining for her to finally get sprites for herself and not her Junko self.

* Put the girls in pants! A recurring topic in the fandom is questioning why almost all of the female characters wear skirts, regardless of personality or talent, with the only ones wearing pants being Hina, Hiroko, Ruruka and Akane in her 10th anniversary outfit. People are starting to take the creators to task for this and some are even redesigning the gils to give them pants.

* "The Character with a musical talent never survives"Because both Sayaka (the Ultimate Pop Sensation) and Kaede (the Ultimate Pianist) die in chapter 1 of their respective games whereas Ibuki dies in chapter 3 of Danganronpa 2, saying that characters with a musical talent never make it past the third chapter is a pretty common joke among the fanbase. * Basically everything relating to Kokichi Oma has become a meme since the reveal of his talent, especially his Panta.
** "Hey, do robots have dicks?" A question Kokichi asks Keebo during the demo and prologue.
*** After this scene Miu had with Keebo, many jokes have been made about Miu knowing the answer to Kokichi's question.
** Komaeda Discourse 2.0 With Kokichi's status as a BaseBreakingCharacter and his similarities to Nagito in the second game (who was also a Base-Breaking Character in his game), many people referred to any discussion about their opinions of Kokichi as "Komaeda Discourse 2.0".
** "Neeheehee!"[=/=]"Nishishi!" Kokichi's distinct laugh has gone memetic.
** Is Oma [X] today? Many blogs on had something among the lines of posting a post everyday stating if Kokichi was a certain charactertistic that day.
** Kokichi is a grandmother. Due to the English translation having Kokichi's last name's spelling changed from "Ouma" to "Oma" (which means "grandmother" in Dutch/German), many fans went on to state that Kokichi is a grandmother.
** "But that's Kayayday's lie, isn't it?" During the Scrum Debate of the first trial, Kokichi states "But that's Kaede's lie, isn't it?" and he pronounces Kaede's name in a rather unusual way. It doesn't help that everyone else in the dub uses the same pronounciation.
*** In general, a bunch of fans falsely theorized Creator/BrycePapenbrook was voicing Kokichi after that one line, resulting in a lot of memetic content.
** [=#Kokichi2020=] References a bunch of posts online wanting Kokichi to run for the presidency of Russia that went viral during April of 2020. As incredible as it may sound, this even made its own way to the Russian media.
* The face Kaito is seen making during the class trial trailer immediately went memetic for being even more hilarious than Kazuichi's.
* Even the game mechanics have gotten their own:
** The most obvious is the new ability to throw objects around when looking for monocoins, so you don't need to worry about what you've already checked. A common gag is to have Kaede presented as a one woman wrecking crew in her pursuit of money much to the concern of her friends; interestingly, Shuichi being presented this way is a lot rarer.
** Jokes have made about the Psyche Taxi" mechanic in this game which is similar to the Logic Dive mechanic in Danganronpa 2, but the main character is now driving a car and picking up hookers instead of riding a snowboard.
** It took a very short amount of time for fans to start mocking this game's iteration of the Hangman's Gambit, one of the series' most despised mini-games, for now making the letters invisible.
* Literally any time Tenko calls Shuichi or any other male student a degenerate male, and the face she makes while doing so.
* "The protagonist spot, Kaede."On imageboards, it's popular to portray Keebo as bitter and antagonistic towards Kaede for "stealing" the position of protagonist from him in earlier promos, with Kaede responding equally as antagonistically. It was eventually combined with a separate meme involving Ted Cruz being angry at UsefulNotes/DonaldTrump for "stealing" his delegates during the 2016 election season. HilariousInHindsight since Kaede is not the real protagonist, and Keebo himself got the last triumph over the Mastermind and Team Danganronpa.
* Who is Kaito Momota? Never heard of him. After notable DR translators decided to divide up the duty of translating every character's Free Time Events, they mistakenly left Kaito off the list. It then became a running gag to pretend Kaito didn't exist.
* Datamine thing. About a week before the game was released in Japan, it was uncovered that large parts of the game, including all of the sprites and a good number of heavily spoilery assets, were hidden in the demo. Cue the phrase being thrown around whenever someone wanted the demo datamined.
** Among the datamined things, this sprite of Miu has gone memetic. You have exactly three guesses as of why. (Warning: NSFW) It's because of the spiked dildo.
* Towards the release of the game in Japan, many, many jokes were made over a variety of fake leaks. Come the actual game release, even more jokes were created after numerous people attempted to put some conflicting spoilers out, to the point where many fans have zero idea what is actually true.
* MagicalGirl Kaede This cutscene at the beginning of the game shows Kaede going through something that looks like a Magical Girl transformation while changing into her "Ultimate" clothes.
* [X] is a crossdresser. Towards the release of the game, a lot of false spoilers started showing up stating certain characters are crossdressers. It started with Kirumi, then Shuichi, then finally mutated into Korekiyo being his sister in disguise. As it turns out, none of these three characters are crossdressers. Became an AscendedMeme in the manga anthology, where the story "Killing Time" revolves around Keebo trying to disprove Kokichi's assertion that Shuichi is a girl.
* Kaede hanging out with Ibuki.Since both Kaede and Ibuki's deaths invole asphyxiation with a rope and then having their lifeless bodies hanging from said ropes, a lot of hanging jokes about the two of them have been made. Some people even thrown in from , whose death also involves a rope.
* Tenko Tenko Ten! When it was revealed that Tenko's voice actress was the same as Nico Yazawa's, many Love Live! fans began making jokes involving the "Nico Nico Nii".
* DO NOT FUCK THE ROBOT. Some fans have taken to an... Robosexual interesting approach to Keebo, leading others to often shout this in protest. The fact that Kokichi asks whether robots have dicks doesn't help. It also doesn't help that Miu ended up having an Robosexual interesting relationship with the robot himself.
* RIP Keebo's Ahoge During Kaito's execution, a rock came and broke Keebo's ahoge, causing many people to state that.
* With this image showing Rantaro painting Kaede's nails with Shirogane looking at them with a grumpy face along with how Shirogane killed Rantaro and let Kaede get executed for it, many jokes have been about Shirogane not shipping Rantaro and Kaede.
* Keebo died for our sins! How the fandom felt when Keebo sacrificed himself to end the Danganronpa TV show.
* Welcome to the club, Shuuichi. A layover from the [=DR3=] meme about the protagonists all belonging to a "Dead Girlfriend Squad"; some people have joked about how Shuuichi only became a "real" protagonist after his LoveInterest died, sometimes with images of him crying right alongside Makoto, Kyosuke and Izuru.
* The [=NDRV3=] opening goes with everything People have discovered that the opening for the game visually matches up with a lot of songs. here are a few examples. There's even a half-hour version.
* The Megumi Squad Most of the characters in the game were voiced by their seiyuus started with the name of "Megumi" such as Megumi Ogata, and Megumi Hayashibara.
* Don't trust the fashion industry With the BigBad of the HPA Saga being the Ultimate Fashionista and the BigBad of this game being the Ultimate Cosplayer, many people joke about how the fashion industry are the bad guys in the franchise and you shouldn't trust them.
* Soon With many western fans impatiently waiting for the English release and NISA stated that the game will be released "soon", the word "soon" became a meme.
* "KOOOOOOOOOOOOODAAAAAAAAAAKAAAAAAAAAA!" The Danganronpa Fandom's version of the BigNo or the OneWomanWail when they got trolled by the series TrollingCreator.
* Meat On The Bone, Meat Off The Bone Parodying [=DR2=][='=]s first Panic Talk Action with Ryoma's manner of death in Chapter 2
* The Holy Trinity The chain started when fans saw the sprites of Sakura Ogami, Nekomaru Nidai, and Gonta Gokuhara being similar from their respective games. The second one was with Genocide Jack, Peko Pekoyama (=wearing the Sparkling Justice mask), and Maki Harukawa (with a dagger). It then soon followed with other characters.
* (Object related to the character's talent) Out, people A method of condolence, this happens whenever they witnessed the character killed or being executed. Examples were: "Pianos Out" for Kaede, "Rackets Out" for Ryoma, "Brooms Out" for Kirumi, "Paint brushes Out" for Angie and "Pantas Out" for Kokichi.
* DO NOT THROW THE ROBOT! A sequel to DO NOT FUCK THE ROBOT. A reaction to the fans in Chapter 2 when Keebo was being thrown as a battering ram to break the aquarium and retrieve Ryoma's skeletal remains, fans of him questioned on when the bullying towards Keebo would stop.
* (Character's Name) Protection Squad InUniverse twice. The first one was when Kaede was about to be executed, Kaito, Tenko, and Gonta tried to stop Monokuma from executing her and fans thought of them as the Kaede Protection Squad. The second one was when Angie formed the cult containing Tsumugi, Tenko, Himiko, and Keebo being formed as the Angie Protection Squad. Outside of the game, fans would form a squad of their favorite characters as they hoped that they will survive the game. The most prominent squad was the Gonta Protection Squad, and the Keebo Protection Squad.
* FICTION Once Tsumugi is outed as the mastermind the word fiction is constantly thrown around and used to justify all of her actions. The fandom had plenty of fun spinning this several different ways.
* Hope! Despair! Hope! Despair! / KIBOU DA! ZETSUBOU DA! When Keebo becomes the final PTA Boss, the Danganronpa audience's comments will eventually turn into a repetitive mess of these two terms.
* With the amount of HoYay shipping in the fandom along with the LGBTFanbase, there was many sprite videos where the cast sang Gay or European?.
* Weeby Newz is Kaede After a famous [=YouTuber=] who posts videos about Danganronpa named Weeby Newz went out on a long hiatus without note, many people ended joking that she was Kaede and she was away from Website/YouTube participating in this killing game. The meme became stronger after she did a face reveal, showing that she actually looks like Kaede and she also happens to be a huge fan of Kaede.
* The Famitsu Poster When the Famitsu article showed a poster of Danganronpa V3, fans have started to make a meme out of it. Such as Shuichi being placed on different pictures because of his pose.
* K one B zero In the English translation, Keebo spells out his name this way when introducing himself. There are some who preferred the Japanese spelling, some preferred the English spelling, and some decided to make a meme out of it.
* Following the reveal in Chapter 3, everything regarding Korekiyo - dubbed 'Salt' (å¡©) by the Japan fandom, 'Tulpaman' by certain Western imageboards, and 'The Folklore Cunt' by segments of the Western fandom thanks to Vidya's Abridged Series - has become a meme. Common jokes include salt, the concept of tulpas, sister complexes, and the idea of giving '100 friends' to people.
* Gonta telling truth/Caveman Gonta Gonta going from merely being a ThirdPersonPerson in Japanese to using full-on Hulkspeak in the English localization became a meme right away. It didn't help that his voice actor joined in on the jokes as well.
* A new killing game with begin again.A particularly JustForFun/egregious typo from the original launch of the English version; it was patched quickly, but because it wasn't caught (it was part of the opening cutscene) was utterly ridiculous to many, and players who didn't get it patched got to see this typo again during chapter six as one hell of a mood killer.
* Korekiyo's love of Seesaws. Comes from the Chapter 3 Hangman's Gambit and how Korekiyo would've been able to pull off a perfect murder had he not used the "seesaw effect" to kill Tenko. The difficulty some players had with identifying that term as the needed phrase, and how silly it sounds, didn't help.
* Atua, Angie's cult deity, being used in place of "God" in phrases or as an all purpose answer much like Angie does in game.
* Generally speaking, when at least two fans have a disagreement on certain things, it is common for somebody to state to try to solve things via a "Scrum Debate".
** The Eternal Scrum Debate. The ending split the fanbase right down the middle, leading to jokes about the fanbase being locked in a Scrum Debate about it.
* Comparing Rantaro Amami to an avocado is common due to his light green hair. In regards to his death, there's also jokes about how the avocado got turned into guacamole.
* Shuichi WinsByDoingAbsolutelyNothing. With Shuichi and his gang not voting at the final class trial to end the killing game once and for all, jokes have been made that Shuichi did nothing. Also applies to the stretch of the trial in which you get a Nonstop Debate, Hangman's Gambit, Psyche-Taxi, and multiple-choice question, all of which have to be passed by doing nothing rather than playing.
* Still Got a Ways to Go.Ryoma Hoshi's catchphrase caught on pretty quick with the English-speaking fans, noting any character who failed to achieve a goal, particularly the killers, "Still had a ways to go."
* Humanity is beautiful This line has started to get thrown around in the fanbase, usually whenever something related to Korekiyo (the person who said this) comes up.
* "Damn normies! Go backflip onto a landmine and explode!" Tsumugi's sudden fit of jealous rage is often joked about, especially because the people she's quoting this to are the ones she ends up killing.
* Clair de Lune. To many DR fans, Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy will be forever synonymous with Kaede, her death, and to a lesser extent the point at which it plays in Chapter 6. Expect ViewersInMourning whenever it comes up.
* This guy should have died instead of Kaede. This line during the final trial, uttered by fans of the Danganronpa TV show, ends up sometimes being echoed by real life fans who like Kaede more than Shuichi.
* This image of Kaede as a baby has gone memetic, due to many people finding the panel depicting her as a baby either creepy or Narmy, and there are numerous parodies of the image using other characters or simply photoshopping her face onto them.

* WHY NO [=SDR2=] ANIME. Needless to say, many fans did not expect the staff to essentially abort an adaptation of VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair in favor of doing an original story.
* Puberty hit Makoto like a bus. Makoto's fairly radical new design provided a lot of jokes about finally looking his age.
* Watch Twogami Run In the opening scene showcasing the Ultimate Imposter as Ultimate Despair, he's seen to be quite the Acrofatic. The fandom was quick to make jokes about it.
* Chandelier. Yukizome's corpse is found hung from a chandelier. The fandom was awash in parodies afterwards, most of them involving the Music/Sia song of the same name.
* Ishimaru is the mastermind. Makoto's forbidden action is not being able to run in the hallways. Almost immediately viewers began making jokes that Kiyotaka was somehow behind all of this.
* Rotten Oranges. Yukizome makes references to Series/KinpachiSensei's iconic "rotten oranges" speech, which quickly popularized and ended up causing many people from the Western fanbase who don't know the origins of the quote to misappropriate it as her own saying.
* Everything about the Aphrodisiac scene. Towards the end of Despair Arc Episode 2, Hiyoko inadvertently causes an aphrodisiac soup to get in everyone's food, which causes much of the cast to start what is basically an orgy. This spread across the internet in record time.
* Tomato sauce. Aoi is found seemingly dead at the end of Episode 2 of Future Arc only for the next episode to almost immediately out it as just some tomato sauce and a toy knife. Needless to say, this became an instant punchline in the fandom.
* Everything is Sakakura's fault. Sakakura's physical and verbal assault of Hinata is what pushes Hinata to becoming Izuru Kamukura, indirectly causing 85% of the franchise's events. Thanks to Sakakura being TheScrappy, this has lead to nearly every little thing being blamed on him.
** Even when Sakakura does the right thing, he still ruins everything. Even after Sakakura became much more sympathetic, fans have noticed that even his heroic actions have terrible consequences, such as how him freeing the survivors from their bracelets allowed Mitarai to use his brainwashing anime on everyone.
* "Local X Ruins Everything" Fans like to slap the blame of everything to a certain someone as new episodes came out. It started with Sakakura for his mistreatment to Hinata that caused him to turn to Kamukura, and then it was Komaeda for him sabotaging and ruining the Kimura/Ando/Izayoi friendship, and then it was Ruruka for betraying Kirigiri's group and indirectly killing Kizakura, and then it was Munakata for going berserk and killing Sakakura, and then it was Ikusaba for lobotomizing and brainwashing Yukizome... and then it's Yukizome for being confirmed of never being cured from Despair and even had a hand in Munakata's descent to insanity, and for helping Junko kill Chiaki. And then, the monitor for being the source of hypnosis and getting everyone to kill themselves and Tengan, who masterminded everything. The thing about this meme is that the most accurate answer is 'Local Despair-Fetish Girl (Junko) Ruins Everything', but the joke would be lost otherwise, so no one blames Junko.
** "Local X Does Something Right for Once." The fan reaction when it turned out Komaeda had unintentionally turned Monaka off despair. And after Despair Arc 9, even Sakakura can get this statement, when he flat out confronted Enoshima intending to eliminate her directly. Though just as much as 'does something right'
*** "Local X saves everything" (with the word "saves" taped on). In episode 11, Juzo manages to turn the power off in the building, thus deactivating the bangles and ending the game. It even gets a continuation featuring both Mikan and Seiko for both contributing to Kyoko's survival.
* Nagito is a terrorist/"Hope akbar" In Episode 4 of Despair Arc, Nagito plans to blow up the stadium where the final exams take place. The community was happy to mock the absurd premise and the events that take place during the episode and label Nagito as a terrorist.
* The Mastermind's motives better not be complex. The identity of both the traitor and mastermind, along with the true purpose of the Final Killing, has been a massive source of EpilepticTrees among the fanbase. As many fans have compared the anime to VisualNovel/ZeroTimeDilemma, this has lead to many on imageboards making these remarks in regards to the infamously complex motives for the corresponding elements.
* The Ultimate Bullshit. Originally coined by LetsPlay/NicoB as a derogatory "Ultimate" title to mock Nagito's luck, the term has been popularized since episode 4 of Despair Arc in regards to how contrived Nagito's plan of blowing up the school gym played out (especially the scene where he and Seiko accidentally switched bags).
* The scene of Hinata staring at a computer in Despair Arc Episode 3 has for whatever reason become a magnet for parodies.
* Munakata is Kaneki. Munakata's EvilMakeover in Future Arc Episode 5 prompted a lot of jokes from Manga/TokyoGhoul fans.
** Punished Munakata. A similar meme regarding Munakata's EvilMakeover, wherein he is compared to Venom Snake from VideoGame/MetalGearSolidVThePhantomPain for missing an eye and for being considered 'edgy'.
* Dr Hopper. In Despair Arc Episode 1, Komaeda inadvertently gets a ton of Dr Hopper from a vending machine, which can be seen in his bag in a later episode. The fandom has run with this, with it being anywhere from a TrademarkFavoriteFood to an outright CargoShip.
* Dewicious Comes from Izayoi's fight with Kimura when he said that he would protect Ruruka for love and dewicious sweets with a completely straight face.
* Believe in Weedman A mantra fans says while clinging to the hope that Hagakure will do something relevant to the plot.
* Dear boy, we hereby arrest you. For treason. Munakata's word to Naegi in the first episode of the dub. Became popular due to the Narm involved.
* "Nyek Nyek Nyek Nyek!" The Funimation dub's adaptation of Monokuma's iconic laugh is considered Narm incarnate by its positive reception.
* "Boring." The ending scene of Episode 6 consists of Hajime/Izuru staring down the fleet of Future Foundation peacekeeping warships headed towards Jabberwock Island. He responds to this with a very deadpan "Boring."
** The Cliffhanger ending of Future Arc Episode 6 has provided a FountainOfMemes in general, anywhere from spoofing the above "Do you like boats?" meme from the second game]] to joking about Hajime being the LauncherOfAThousandShips.
* Time to rewatch Episode 6 for... investigation reasons. Komaru's introduction scene to the anime consists of her trying to get Toko to take a bath. The scene consists of Komaru tackling Toko in a very suggestive position that shows off Komaru's underwear. Many fans have cited that they need to rewatch the scene for "investigation" purposes.
** The same has been applied to the otherwise horrifying Episode 7 of Despair Arc, thanks to Nagito's WaterfallShower in that episode.
* X is the 13th Branch Head. Despite having not been really mentioned, the identity of Asahina's superior has become a massive source of EpilepticTrees. Expect most of the theories circulated in regards to Future Arc to reference it.
* First we need to consult the bagels. Monomi's dub VA is considered annoying enough to become a target for humour. This line where she talks about everyone's bracelets in particular became popular due to a mishearing that linked to the LetsPlay/NicoB meme.
* They Smoothed Him/Scandalgate Smoothgate A day after Despair Arc Episode 6 aired, Kamukura's profile image on the website changed to give him a much neater hairstyle. As the fandom is notorious for warring, people were quick to predicting the "discourse".
* Episode 7 too raw Due to delays, Future Arc Episode 7 did not have subtitles, forcing many impatient fans to watch the episode without dialog.
* Third wheel Juzo. The reveal concerning Sakakura feelings towards Munakata and Yukizome's relationship lead to plethora of jokes about his position in life, usually accompanied by the shot of his clenched fist (which has since been used by fans as a general reaction image for pretty much anything).
* Google it up, shitlord. Monaka's response to Komaru (this wording is from a FanSub) when she asks what she means by one of Naegi's friends dying because of him. Often used as response image.
* After Junko enforced SoundtrackDissonance for the first mutual killing, fans have joined Junko in the fun by playing similarly unfitting music over the carnage.
* In episode 8, the room where Kyoko's group is now has a huge BottomlessPit. With all the hate generated by Ruruka, a lot of people have taken up mimicking the scene of Film/ThreeHundred where the messenger is kicked in a pit. Usually with Kyoko or Juzo kicking her.
* The scene where Komaeda pulls a gun on Kamukura spawned a truckload of parodies and jokes, being dubbed "Komaeda's new shot through the heart event"
** Related to the above: "How Danganronpa could have ended
* The MeetCute[=/=]LoveBubbles scene of Izuru and Nagito was the target of a lot of jokes even by Spike Chunsoft's twitter:
-->Nagito: My nose is stuck... achoo!
-->Izuru: If it's sinus medication you need, I have that too.
-->Nagito: K-Kamukura-kun... *blushes*
* The scene in which Ryota opens the video of the First Mutual Killing Game has spawned various parodies.
* The infamous amount of delays concerning the subs has lead to some joking that it's Funimation's Forbidden Action to release them on time.
* Junko is Delta The disturbing similarity to both the scenes in Despair Arc Episode 9 and the infamous "MIND HACKING" from ZTD lead to a lot of jokes from the VisualNovel/ZeroEscape fans.
* Ryota: "Anime was a mistake"As Junko plunges Ryota more and more onto natural despair by using his animated anime to screw up the world with despair, he mentioned that anime is stupid, a contrast to when he said anime was a proud part of Japanese culture. This made him compared with people who are disillusioned with anime, even if only via MemeticMutation, like Creator/HayaoMiyazaki. Bonus points for the anime that he watched and inspired him were all modeled after Miyazaki anime.
* John Travolta! The Ultimate Imposter's true face has been compared by many to looking like John Travolta
* A Clockwork Orange Chisa's torture resembled an infamous conditioning scene from Film/AClockworkOrange
* Izuru, Ultimate X Due to Izuru having literally every other talent in the game, it also means he have some talents that would look funny on him, like Ultimate Princess, Ultimate Housekeeper, Fashionista, Fanfic Writer and so on.
* SHSL PR Guy Spike Chunsoft's PR guy is pretty memetic for all the responses he gives to people with questions.
* Fire Extinguisher: The true hero of the series. The anime has a very liberal use of throwing a fire extinguisher to antagonistic characters, leading fans to believe that the real hero is this one item.
* Chisa the Child Slayer The utterly horrific reveal in Future Arc Episode 10 regarding Yukizome's true nature lead to a lot of jokes from fans.
* Who loses their jacket next? The cast of Future Arc has a habit of losing their jackets in leiu of something important happening (in order, this has happened to Gozu, Asahina, Munakata, Ando, Kirigiri and Naegi).
* "Lost Waifu Week" Episodes 10 of both the Future Arc and Despair Arc, which aired in the same week, had Naegi, Munakata and Kamukura crying after the deaths of their respective LoveInterest (Kirigiri, Yukizome, and Nanami respectively), causing fans to declare the week of September 11 the week of dead waifus.
** Local waifu cheats death In the closing moments of Hope Arc it's revealed that Kirigiri was OnlyMostlyDead and she reunites with Naegi, to the joy of many fans and the confusion of many others.
* "The Rumor Come Out" Episode 10 of Despair Arc confirms that Juzo is gay, so people started memeing his outing.
** "Why couldn't Munakata open doors? To see that Juzo was hiding in the closet!" Likewise, people started cracking jokes about Munakata's NG Code really being about his inability to see Juzo's feelings or Juzo's inability to come out of the closet.
* "Kamukura, Kamukura, YASS QUEEN~!" The Funimation dub's version of Junko fangirling upon meeting Izuru Kamukura for the first time. Much like Munakata's "Dear Boy", it became popular due to how Narm Narmy it is.
* SHSL Redeemed Due to his massive status as RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap, fans have declared that Juzo has completely redeemed himself as of Episode 11
** Connected to that: "Juzo died for our sins" Juzo made a HeroicSacrifice the same episode to end the Final Killing Game before he bled out.
* IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN REMOTELY CONTROL OUR BOY JUZO In every 4chan Danganronpa 3 thread, there is always a post labeled with the aforementioned title that hyped up Juzo as a major MemeticBadass who let nothing get in his way, listing all his feats as the series went on. For example, this Reddit post. Initially, his "feats" were the actions that got him criticized by the majority of the fandom mutated via AlternateCharacterInterpretation (particularly beating up Makoto, Ryota, and Hajime being labeled as a show of masculinity). As the series humanized him, his feats became more legitimate such as him being able get back up despite suffering blows that put down any other man and overcoming Ruruka's brainwashing sweets.
** THERE WAS NO ONE WHO COULD EVEN REMOTELY CONTROL OUR HERO JUZO The title of the posts were changed to reflect his HeroicSacrifice in episode 11.
* The ending of Future Arc Episode 11, where Mitarai gets a phone message from the supposed to be dead Tengan, has seen tons of parodies, usually involving giving a gag response to the message itself.
* HOPING INTENSIFIES The mass reaction from the fandom when Hope Arc was confirmed to be happening
* Goodbye Komaeda. At the end of Despair Arc, the scene where Hinata and Nanami reunite in the Neo World Program sees Komaeda disappear between shots. Given Komaeda was infamously DemotedToExtra and had his relationship with Hinata completely left out of the narrative, many were quick to joke about this.
* "Memes." In the last episode of Despair Arc, Izuru talks with Junko about how she plans to throw the world into despair by using it as a memetic agent. Naturally, the fandom jumped on it, even with some jokes about how they were all Remnants of Despair themselves for using memes.
** "They live and die by the meme." An even-more Narmy line from the English dub.
* Ryota vi Britannia The fan reaction to Mitarai after Future Arc Episode 12, comparing him to Lelouch thanks to his rampant use of mind control and being a massive WellIntentionedExtremist.
* Being Munakata is suffering. A common joke used against the ending, as Munakata ends up being the only surviving character to not get a happy ending.
* Friendship ended with X, now Y is my best friend. A derivative, which began with Chisa on X and Juzo on Y. The reveal that Chisa was brainwashed into becoming a Remnant of Despair herself and slaughtering a bunch of preschool kids started making her lose quite a few fans...while ironically, Juzo, who was up until the latter half of the series one of the most reviled characters in franchise history, fully redeemed himself with the reveal of his more humanizing elements and being singlehandedly responsible for ending the Final Killing Game while bleeding out from a heated katana through his stomach. Needless to say, fans were quick to note the dramatic shift in popularity between the two. Eventually, there were derivatives like Tengan going to X, Class 77 going to Y when it comes to Ryota.
* Yeah, I don't get this either. Pretty sure I died. The dub infamously used an outtake for Kirigiri's final line. Many fans were quick to use it as a representation of the ending in general.
* Danganronpa 3 Official Abridged. Compilations of the aforementioned clips from the official dub had made viewers mistaken they were from an Abridged series. These videos sum it up quite nicely.

* Nagito Komaeda. Nagito's... 'interesting' personality (and the fact that his shocking revelation in Chapter 1 has taken most fans by surprise) has led him to be a memetic character on his own account, and the name "Komaeda" is just associated with everything... 'unique' about him that even people who refer to characters by their first names (as in the English version) refer to Nagito as "Komaeda". He has spawned many memes single-handedly, as seen below...
** What The Hell, Komaeda. An MMD of Nagito dancing to Avril Lavigne's "What The Hell" has become memetic in the fanbase for two reasons: Avril Lavigne, and the rather odd dancing featured in the video.
** YOU MUST NOT LOSE HOPE, HINATA-KUN. Nagito is particularly memetic for his obsession over hope.
** Here we are at Seaworld, Hinata-kun! The first line of a Youtube video of a reading of a trollfic about Hajime and Nagito going to Sea World.
** Did somebody say HOPE?!/Haha Time for HOPE/You wanna hope with me? Whenever anybody says the word hope in a Danganronpa thread, they are always responded with a picture of Nagito and this video plus either of those phrases
** I really want Ko. From the Dangan Crack Confessions Tumblr. Nagito's personality has earned him a... really interesting fanbase.
** I want Ko to run. Also from Dangan Crack Confessions, which is popular to have simulator videos a la Pony Thread Simulator.
** Nagito loves bagels. In LetsPlay/NicoB's rather popular Let's Play he made a running gag out of Nagito loving bagels so his viewers ran with it. This also somehow made him get shipped with the judge https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OVrL9gaRk-U from Franchise/AceAttorney.
** Do you like boats? Nagito's attempt to strike a conversation with Kamukura... Kamukura really likes boats
** Hinata-kun is cheating on me... In vidya's abridged series "Danganronpa in a Nutshell", most of Nagito's screentime revolves around lamenting that Hajime is cheating on him with all the girls on the island.
** Feed me, Hinata-kun! With reference to the infamous scene in which Nagito was tied up and asking Hajime to feed him.
** Ultimate Bullshit A fan nickname for Nagito's 'lucky student' talent, which ended up being used as a major plot device at several important parts of the game.
** I want Hinata-kun's hope/I need more of Hinata-kun's hope/Show me your HOPE, Hinata-kun! In Chapter 1, Nagito gushes during the trial about how much he wants to see which is bigger - Hajime's hope or Teruteru's hope. At the end of the trial, Nagito gives up on Teruteru, saying that he was disappointed at how 'pathetic' Teruteru's hope is. Naturally, Nagito's obsession with hope and his implied crush on Hinata has led people to joke that "hope" is an euphemism for something else, and that Nagito is obviously thirsty for Hajime's dick.
** Ultimate Asshole The nickname given by WebVideo/SmoshGames' Honest Game Trailers... which is VERY fitting.
* AVRIL LAVIGNE. With Monomi acting as Teruteru's translator during the first trial of Danganronpa 2 due to his strong southern dialect that comes out when nervous, she eventually translates one string of words as Music/AvrilLavigne, leading to Avril Lavigne being considered either Monomi or Teruteru's favorite singer. This gets expanded in the Despair Arc, with Teruteru's yelp of pain being "TAYLOR SWIFT!!". In the same vein, one of the statements you have to shoot during the Panic Talk Action with him is "PARIS HILTON!!"
* Ibuki knows that you're reading this! Don't say anything bad about Ibuki! Ibuki is seen as a character easily able to break the fourth wall, leading to fanworks with her befriending similar-fourth-wall-breaking characters like Pinkie Pie and Deadpool.
* Ibuki's song from Chapter 3. Treads into AccidentalNightmareFuel territory, and also gives an insight on why she broke up with her band over creative disputes, as stated in her Free-Time events.
* "How's it hanging, Ibuki?" A reference to Ibuki's death: Mikan kills Ibuki by strangling her with a rope and then hanging her corpse from that rope in order to make it look like a suicide. Cue hanging jokes.
* Spoiler-kun is banned. In things intended for those who haven't finished Danganronpa 2, the character Izuru Kamukura is banned for his spoileriffic nature.
* Hajime Hinata loves orange juice. Similar to Yasuhiro and his hamburger, This particular screencap from the in-game [=CGs=] is notorious, to the point of orange juice being Hajime's favorite drink in fanon.
* Titty Typhoon The music venue on the third island is well remembered for its... odd name.
* Hajime Mulaney. One of the most popular trends in fan made sprite videos is to use audio from the comedian John Mulaney, with Hajime usually playing the role of Mulaney in the videos. Several of these videos have spawned memes of their own.
* Whoa! Hajime's reaction to many things.
* Meat On The Bone. In the first Panic Talk Action, the Final Strike combination about where the weapon was hidden is Meat On The Bone. However, unlike the others, there are multiple combinations of these four words that could be construed as correct, and many a fan has claimed to be tripped up by this one puzzle at least once.
* JEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ... One of Mahiru's voiced lines in the English dub is "jeez" in a clearly irritated tone, which became memetic within the fanbase thanks to the way it was delivered by the voice actress.
* Mikan: Ultimate Fan Service The nickname given by Honest Game Trailers... which is also VERY fitting.
* Banana Loli, Banana Gremlin. Some fans compare Hiyoko's blonde MegaTwintails to bananas, earning her these nicknames in some circles. This became an AscendedMeme in Ultimate Summer Camp, where Miu calls Hiyoko a banana gremlin.
* Comparing Mahiru to the mascot of the fast-food chain restaurant Wendy's is a pretty common joke, as both of them are freckled redhead girls.
* Since Kazuichi seems to bring up Sonia almost every time he talks and states that she will eventually become his girlfriend, only for Sonia to be seemingly interested in Gundham, not to mention creeped out by Kazuichi's attitude towards her, a lot of jokes have been made about Kazuichi being a huge simp for Sonia.
* Jokes have made by the fandom about Fuyuhiko starring in WesternAnimation/TheBossBaby with the most common one being "I can't believe Fuyuhiko is getting his own movie." This became an AscendedMeme in Danganronpa V3, with Kokichi full on calling him the Boss Baby in Ultimate Talent Development Plan.
* The fandom is prone to making jokes about Hajime being a complete moron, thanks to the fourth trial requiring him to do a Hangman's Gambit to remember the word 'elevator'.
** "What's an Octagon?". On a similar note to that of the elevator, during the same class trial one of the questions that has to be answered is the amount of sides an octagon has. Jokes about Hajime not knowing what an octagon is have been made ever since.
* Sonia Nevermind’s last name has lead to many WhosOnFirst jokes within the Fandom.
* "Hello everyone, it's me! Nagito Komaeda on the UsefulNotes/NintendoDS!"This video in which Nagito says the aforementioned line became viral among the community, spawning further mutations such as "Nagito Komaeda on the UsefulNotes/Nintendo3DS" or "Nagito Komaeda on the UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch", the last of which became HilariousInHindsight after Danganronpa Decadence, which contains the main three Danganronpa games alongside Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, was announced for the Nintendo Switch on June 15th 2021, which of course caused the meme to see a huge resurgence.
* Beta Hiyoko. There was a rumour going around in late 2020 that Hiyoko was originally going to have a different death. Namely, that Teruteru was going to butcher her up and serve her to the other students. This was also supposed to give Akane and Twogami a fatal case of food poisoning. Despite this rumour being debunked, there are still a couple of edits based around this gruesome “alternate fate”, with it being referred to as “beta Hiyoko” and Hiyoko’s beta design being used in some videos, due to this fate supposedly being kept in beta.
* Hajime Hinata is the Ultimate Pimp. Because of the sheer amount of characters that show attraction towards Hajime at one point or another (these being pretty much everyone but Kazuichi, The Ultimate Imposter, Fuyuhiko, Gundham and Peko), plus the fact that, per Danganronpa tradition, the other students give Hajime their underwear after finishing all of their Free Time Events, many people joke that Hajime actually does have a talent: being a pimp.

* Shortly after the big reveal, we get a memetic GIF where Junko's head is sent spinning. People then added sounds and musical accompaniment.

* "THIS GIRL IS ON FIREEEEE!!!" A reference to Celeste's execution.
** Also: I'd hit that with a truck. Yet another reference to her execution: it looks like Celeste is going to be burnt alive, but then Monokuma pulls a BaitAndSwitch and rams her with a fire truck.
* Due to Makoto's status as Ultimate Hope, he is often depicted cosplaying as Madoka; sometimes, Kyoko is drawn alongside him as Homura. Sayaka Maizono sometimes joins them, as she has a matching first name and color scheme.
* "Owada pumped up and ready to party." A description of Mondo's sauna scene. Can be replaced with any other character.
* 11037 One of the clues in the first case, which particularly amused the English-language fandom, because they could tell much earlier than most of the characters that it was a misreading of a character's name written in English, albeit upside down and backwards.
** 1041 Used to refer to Sayaka, as this number flipped 180º seemingly spells out the word "thot", in reference to how she tried to kill Leon and frame Makoto.
* Leon Kuwata is a weenie.
** A weenie who hates besbaw.
** Batter up, Leon. His execution is very memorable among the fandom for giving players a taste of what the series has in store. In fact, it's so memorable and talked about, it's practically a LateArrivalSpoiler.
** Stupidstupidstupidstupid! / AHO AHO AHO AHO AHO His FreakOut in Chapter 1.
* Kiyotaka is a crybaby. Both Leon and Kiyotaka are given ButtMonkey status due to their very negative reactions in the first two trials respectively.
* Sayaka is a snake. Sayaka tried to kill Leon and frame Makoto of the crime, but she got killed by Leon instead, leading some people to quickly label Sayaka as a BitchInSheepsClothing who only ever got along with Makoto in order to take advantage of him. This part of the fandom was quick to associate her so-called nature with the symbolism snakes are given in mythology and religion.
** Bringing up that Sayaka was killed in Chapter 1 because the developers got sick of her. Another part of the fandom tends to bring up that Sayaka was the first to die because she was the first female character that was designed, which caused the developers to get sick of her by the time they designed everyone else due to having to use her designs for reference. The same also applies to Leon regarding the male characters.
* Sakura Oogami is a pretty princess. Due to her overall kind nature, Sakura is often seen as the most Moe adorable of all the girls.
* I can't believe it's not butter. Mondo Owada is turned into butter in his execution, which Monokuma then eats, leading to Mondo butter becoming memetic.
* The culprit is Hagakure! Often on the Website/SomethingAwful LP thread, it was guessed that Yasuhiro would be the killer in one of the cases. He never was, ultimately.
* Yasuhiro's hamburger. This scene that was definitely out of place, which was from Yasuhiro telling the surviving classmates of an alien encounter that happened in the past. Some people even ship Yasuhiro with his hamburger.
* Anime Peter Griffin. It is a universally accepted fact among the series' Western fanbase that anyone not familiar with the franchise will refer to Hifumi as "Anime Peter Griffin", without exception or any prompting from anyone else, thanks to both of them being fat guys with brown hair, glasses, white dress shirts and very similar faces.
* My... Name... is... CELESTIA LUDENBERG GODDAMMIT!From the English dub of the game. During the third trial Celeste, full of anger may we add, says this after keeping insisting that "Celestia Ludenberg" is her real name when she is told by her classmates to reveal her true name (Taeko Yasuhiro). This was not helped by the fact that the in-game text displays it upside down. It soon became a joke among the community to say that Celeste's full name is "Celestia Ludenberg Goddammit".

* DONUTS Aoi Asahina is infamous for having donuts as her favorite food, leading to many claiming she has an obsession with them.
** Also, because the anime adaptation was running at the same time as Anime/Free, jokes were made that Aoi was in the wrong series, and she was even shipped with series lead Haruka Nanase.
* Kyoko Kirigiri loves Squick touching corpses. While Makoto expresses hesitation in examining victim's bodies during the game, Kyoko has no such hesitation and examines the corpses without flinching. More especifically, this refers to how in chapter 2 it is heavily implied that she found out that Chihiro was a boy by feeling his genitals while examining his corpse, and in chapter 3 when she outright tells Makoto that she found a note after searching through a dead Hifumi's underpants. This lead to people joking that Kyoko ILoveTheDead has a fetish for dead bodies
* Bacon Hands Used to refer to Kyoko and coined by 4chan's /a/ board. It alludes to her injured hands, which she burned in her early days as a detective.
* Ramenhead Kyoko, the Ramen Fairy, or Makoto's ramen fetish. After the 5th trial ends with Makoto taking the fall Kyoko goes looking for him in the dumpster and when she finds Makoto she has a cup of ramen on her head.
* "[X] IS NOT WELCOME IN A SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT!!" Kiyotaka's overly exaggerated catchphrase from WebVideo/DanganRonpaAbridgedThing.
** "NO RUNNING IN THE HALLWAYS!!" Kiyotaka tells this to Mondo in one occasion, naturally the fandom was quick to run with it. This saw a resurgence in the Future Arc of Danganronpa 3, as Makoto's forbidden action is "running in the hallways".
* Kiyotaka is heterophobic. During the first trial, when Hina explains that she spent the night with Sakura in the latter's bedroom, Kiyotaka, believing Sakura to be male at the time, states that it is unwholesome for a boy and a girl to spend the night together. Later on in chapter 2, Taka spends the night with Mondo in a sauna as part of an endurance contest, and they both come out as best friends the next day. Many fans joke about Kiyotaka being heterophobic given that apparently a boy and a girl spending the night together is wrong, but two boys doing the same thing is not.
* "Corn Hair." Often used in reference to Mondo's hair style, which many fans speculate to look like a corn cob "HEY! THIS IS A BAGUETTE, YOU SONOFABIIITCH!!".
** Eyebrows. Similarly used to refer to Kiyotaka's large eyebrows, which extend all the way to his hairline!
* Togami's legs. One of Byakuya's most recognizible physical traits are how his long his legs are, causing some fans to see them as abnormally long.
* Mukuro Ikusaba. The sixteenth student, lying hidden somewhere in this school. The one they call the Ultimate Despair. Watch out for her. Kyoko's warning to Makoto regarding the sixteenth student at the end of Chapter 4 was played again immediately during the beginning of Chapter 5 and throught many other moments in said chapter, prompting fans to make fun of the game's attempt to hammer in the reveal on them. This meme had a resurgence in Danganronpa 3, with the survivor count not matching the number of people in the game, jokingly causing fans to suspect Mukuro again.
* Yasuhiro Hagakure is the Ultimate Protagonist. Fans have given Yasuhiro this title on account of how he's been able to survive the [=DR1=] Killing Game along with the [=DR3=] Killing Game despite his CloudCuckoolander personality. Some fans even refer to his dreadlocks as 'ahoges' which would explain his PlotArmor invulnerability.
* The dick only makes it better! A reaction image of Chihiro Fujisaki with the bottom section applied with the said out-of-context caption in jumbled words. This response is often ironically (non-ironic depending on the fans' mindset) pointed out that it should be better if there's a bulge under the female's skirt.

* In one scene where Makoto looks horrifically at a TV screen showing the outside world, people pasted several different pictures on the TV screen, such as something else that is horrifying or a TakeThat. Website/SomethingAwful's paywall screen is a popular choice.
Memes/Danganronpa3TheEndOfHopesPeakHighSchool

* 'X has a sibling" has become popular due to a large amount of the new characters being relatives of characters from the first game (many of whom were never explicitly mentioned before).
* Making jokes about the game being in the YuriGenre, often supplied with a screencap of Ibuki talking about girls love.
* Calling Monaca trash and/or expressing a desire to throw her down a flight of stairs. Fans later settled on referring to her as Satan.
* Izuru punching through Shirokuma and Kurokuma in the epilogue. Fans proceeded to run with his now canon SuperStrength, labeling him a MemeticBadass.
* Nagisa Shingetsu did nothing wrong. Monaca's actions led to people ignoring the actions of the other, far more sympathetic, kids. Nagisa, who became extremely popular over the game's initial Twitch stream, is the one most frequently given this label.
* DID YOU JUST SAY THE G-WORD?! Simply hearing the word "gentle" causes Kotoko to remember her very traumatic past, which lead to a lot of jokes about "gentle" being considered a taboo word.
* Ball Monokuma One of the many Monokuma enemies is Ball Monokuma, which, as its name suggests, is an spheric Monokuma that can turn into a ball and attack by rolling. The fandom quickly started making jokes about it being an almighty god and/or "the sexiest thing alive" simply because of how hilarious the concept of Ball Monokuma itself really is.

* Kokichi's Abs Some of the art for the title screen for the new Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp shows Kokichi with a noticeably defined midsection. Many fans can’t fathom the possibility of Kokichi having visible abs and some even refuse to acknowledge their existence, as well as pointing out how silly it is that he has them whereas characters like Maki do not. It was revealed later with the official acrylic stands released as a reward for those preordering the Switch bundle that Kokichi doesn't have them after all, which resulted in another wave of memes about him faking them, commonly either by wearing a muscle suit or simply drawing them on with a marker. * My... Name... is... CELESTIA LUDENBERG GODDAMMIT!From the English dub of the game. During the third trial Celeste says this after keeping insisting that "Celestia Ludenberg" is her real name when she is told by her classmates to reveal her true name (Taeko Yasuhiro). This was not helped by the fact that she is very angry while saying this and that the in-game text displays it upside down. It soon became a joke among the community to say that Celeste's full name is "Celestia Ludenberg Goddammit".

* Kyoko Kirigiri loves Squick touching corpses. While Makoto expresses hesitation in examining victim's bodies during the game, Kyoko has no such hesitation and examines the corpses without flinching. More especifically, this refers to how in chapter 2 it is heavly implied that she found out that Chihiro was a boy by touching his crotch while examining his corpse, and in chapter 3 when she outright tells Makoto that she found a note after searching through a dead Hifumi's underpants. This lead to people joking that Kyoko ILoveTheDead has a fetish for dead bodies

* The Chapter 3 Curse[=/=]Chapter 3 Syndrome. It is universally agreed by fans that the third chapter in any Danganronpa game will always be the weakest of them all, with the reasons including a non-sensical double-murder committed by an unsympathetic killer that falls for a weak motive and most infamously killing off characters in the middle of their character development arcs.
