Microsoft Silverlight is a web engine by Microsoft first released in 2007. Its early versions were focused on streaming media, with Creator/{{Netflix}} being one of its users, it later allowed for making animations and games. As NPAPI was discontinued and [=HTML5=] video started becoming more popular, the engine has fallen into decline by 2012. Silverlight 5 has reached its end of life on October 12th, 2021.
