* MechanicalLifeforms: Alpha and the other robots seem to be artificial lifeforms rather than mere human-shaped machines: they sleep and dream, and they need the same food as humans (although they're suggested to be much lower maintenance than normal humans--Maruko points out that a human person wouldn't be able to make a living out of Alpha's little business.)

* TohokuRegionalAccent: Per the translation notes for the first omnibus, Uncle, Takahiro, and some of the other locals from their area speak in the Kanagawa dialect, which is very similar to the Tohoku dialect and has the same "country bumpkin" feeling. Their translated dialogue is written by a native of Nova Scotia, Canada, where the spoken English expresses the feel of Kanagawa dialect very well.

* TearsOfAwe: Ch. 22 revolves around [[RobotGirl Alpha]] traveling to a point where she can look over the SunkenCity of Yokosuka, something she did once before many years earlier with her owner. She's joined by the elderly doctor called Sensei, and as night falls the entire bay lights up, including the city lights underwater. Alpha is so awestruck by the sight that she can only stare and gently cry, with Sensei affectionately holding her head with one hand.
* TearsOfJoy: Ch. 22 revolves around Alpha traveling to a point where she can look over Yokosuka, something she did once before many years earlier with her owner. * UnspecifiedApocalypse: Very much so, throughout the entirety of the manga we are only given hints and tidbits of information about what happened to start the [[ArcWords Age of the Calm Evening]] that is causing humanity to gradually disappear, fitting considering that the characters themselves don't ponder much in what caused it as much as the effects it has on their lives, and this is hinted to have been going on for years now and the main setting is a faraway settlement where such things are hardly talked about.

* {{Arcadia}}: The setting mostly consists of quiet countryside; the few areas that even approach being urban, such as Yokohama and the area where Kokone works, are heavily encroached upon by nature. The people are genereally good-hearted and life is generally peaceful and easy. This is especially significant with the knowledge that the world is as it is due to some sort of catastrophe and that humanity is winding down like a clock.

* WorldOfTechnicolorHair: Human characters have normal hair colors, but robots have hair in more unusual shades. This seems to be [[JustifiedTrope a distinguishing characteristic of robots]], at least the female ones. Alpha has green hair and Kokone's is light purple; Maruko's is reddish brown, which wouldn't be out of place elsewhere but stands out in Japan. It's implied to be an in-universe case of ColourCodedForYourConvenience; it's highly likely that robots were designed like that on purpose to distinguish them from humans.

* MotorcycleOnTheCoastRoad: The main character has a scooter, and lives on the coast. It's to be expected.
** The author is fond of this trope. Another of his titles, "Kotonoba Drive" is basically MotorcycleOnTheCoastRoad: The Manga.

* MiddleOfNowhereStreet: Justified; most of the city is dead.

* CosyCatastrophe: Very much so, it'd be hard to guess the age of humanity is ending if you weren't told as much.

* GaiasLament: {{Played with}}; no-one seems to be in any danger of starvation, but while Alpha is once paid for an odd job with a persimmon bigger than her head, another character later freaks out over being given a handful of rice, claiming it's more than he's ever seen in his entire life.
** Apparently, while agriculture in general is still healthy, the changes wrought by the apocalypse have made it extremely difficult to grow rice anywhere in Japan, which, considering rice's cultural importance there, has inevitably made a deep impression on people.

* {{Arcadia}}: The setting is pretty much this, with its quiet countryside, good-hearted people and peace all around. The fact that it is this after a CosyCatastrophe has occurred makes it more notable.

* TearsOfJoy: One chapter revolves around Alpha traveling to a point where she can look over Yokosuka, something she's apparently done in the past. She doesn't move, doesn't age, and is coated in a white cottony substance, leaving only her face exposed. Ayase at first thinks she's a statue, but one of the locals says that she has brain waves.

* TearsOfJoy: One chapter revolves around Alpha traveling to a point where she can look over one of the submerged cities, something she's apparently done in the past. Sensei joins her, and as night falls the entire bay lights up, including the city lights underwater. Alpha is so awestruck by the sight that she can only stare and gently cry, with Sensei affectionately holding her head with one hand.

* BarbieDollAnatomy: The Osprey never normally wears clothes, but her breasts aren't fully detailed and her groin isn't detailed at all.

* FriendToAllChildren: The Osprey. In a twist, she apparently doesn't understand the concept of ''aging'', which means she makes friends and then wonders where they went when they grow up.

* IDoNotDrinkWine: For some reason, Alpha's body can't process animal protein; as she tells Takahiro, even the milk in a cafe au lait would make her sick. When she finds out that Kokone doesn't have the same issue, she tests herself by drinking a coffee with some milk. She seems to be fine at first, but develops the robot equivalent of a severely upset stomach.
* IWillWaitForYou: Alpha maintains that she's waiting for the return of her owner. [[spoiler:Much later in the manga, she eventually moves on with her life and comes to terms with the possibility of her owner never coming back.]]
* IdiotHair: {{Exaggerated|Trope}} by the Osprey, who has a large lock of hair on top of her head that stands up quite high before falling back over. In the {{OVA}}s the first we see of her is this, though replace "idiot" with "wild" for her behavior.

* MayflyDecemberRomance: Subverted; Alpha and Takahiro have an obvious romantic connection, but neither of them pursue their mutual feelings because Takahiro will eventually age and die and Alpha will not. Alpha also sees Takahiro as a brother figure, and refers to him as such several times.

* MonstrousHumanoid: Heavily {{downplayed|Trope}}. The Osprey is a seemingly ageless being with [[CuteLittleFangs tiny fangs]] who lives by the bays and hunts for fish like an animal, [[CuteMute never speaks]], never wears clothes, and rarely interacts with humans aside from occasionally showing herself to children she seems to like. However, she could pass for human unless you see her smile.

* OlderThanTheyLook: {{Inverted|Trope}}; although never explicitly stated, in the beginning of the series Alpha may be quite a bit ''younger'' than her adult-looking form suggests. [[spoiler:Played straight by the end of the series.]]

* OneHeadTaller: Alpha is a head taller than Takahiro in the early chapters, and she likes to show affection by leaning on him from behind with her head on top of his and her arms draped over him. Of course, Takahiro can't help but notice that this pushes her chest into the back of his head, but when he comments on this at one point, she gets embarrassed and [[AffectionateGestureToTheHead noogies him with her elbow]].

* PerpetualSmiler: Uncle's permanent facial expression is a huge grin, although as he ages it seems to shrink somewhat.

* WhosOnFirst: The lone male android is named "Nai", Japanese for "nothing," which causes some confusion when Alpha asks for his name.

* ApocalypseHow: Don't expect an answer, just some vague hints.

* FloodedFutureWorld: Due to an environmental shift whose details are largely unrevealed, sea levels have risen dramatically, [[SunkenCity submerging a great many coastal cities]] completely.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: In ch. 3, Alpha gets embarrassed when some customers snicker at the ribbons she wrapped around the watermelons Oji-san gave her. However, as she's sitting and enjoying her tea at the end of the chapter, she glances over at the melons and can't help but laugh at seeing them.

Although, since this happens right after a TimeSkip, and we're shown his gas station overgrown with two unmarked graves beside it, it's likely that they both died of old age quite some time ago and she had already had enough time to grieve for them.]]

Nai's plane, the model engine plane that Alpha repairs, the ''Taapon'' (the gigantic airship that endlessly flies overhead), and Alpha's dream-like visions of flying [[spoiler:which she may or may not actually be doing... yet another unanswered question]].

* FlyingDutchman: The ''Taapon'', an orbital craft stuck circling the Earth because everywhere it could have landed has either been destroyed or swallowed by the rising sea levels. It circles the globe, switching north-south hemispheres every 6 years. Its overall purpose has either been lost to time or classified to only a few certain people still alive.

** Until she gets to know Alpha, Maki is jealous of Alpha and Takahiro's relationship.

RobotGirl Alpha Hatsuseno runs a cafe outside Yokohama, nearly deserted after a catastrophic flood, implied to have been part of a longer chain of disasters. Soon, another robot comes with a delivery of a camera, beginning... [[SliceOfLife well, not much, really.]] Don't let [[EnergyWeapon her gun]] fool you; it's a pretty laid-back series. Perhaps very little happens, but then it's not about things happening. This is a manga series that gives you something to think about, and time in which to do it. After all, there's all the time in the world.

A bit of advice: If you try to speed read through the manga, you'll probably find it very boring and pointless. The story is told through the visuals, not the words. Sit back and stare at the artwork.

A French publisher, Meian, is [[https://twitter.com/Meian_editeur/status/1352639698850750470 releasing the volumes in French]] under the name ''Escale à Yokohama'' ''(Stop at Yokohama)''. While the manga had no official English translation for many years, Creator/SevenSeasEntertainment [[https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2022-02-16/seven-seas-licenses-yokohama-kaidashi-kikou-raise-wa-tanin-ga-ii-manga/.182715 announced that they licensed the series in 2022]], and are releasing the manga as five omnibus volumes.
