* ComicBookTime: The passage of time in-story appears to be rather slow, and the calendar dates assigned to their events don’t exactly line up to them as much as they do to real life publication dates, making for some oddities. The first chapter sets itself in 2017, and the characters have experienced about two years’ worth of birthdays some three-hundred or so chapters since then, but depending on when any given chapter was published, the dates you see on their phones or contracts could be in 2020 or 2023.

* ThrivingExCrush: Played with. The beginning of the story has protagonist Kazuya be dumped by his girlfriend of one month, Mami. While Mami is wealthy, a socialite, and is not wanting for masculine attention while Kazuya is a meek loser, Mami finds herself furious when she next sees him with the downright gorgeous and courteous Chizuru Mizuhara and conspires to break them up. Little does she know that Kazuya is only renting Chizuru's services as a rental girlfriend and is still the loser he was when he was with her.

Kazuya being a perverted NervousWreck has a hard time doing it and ends up [[RagingStiffie getting a reaction]], which makes him quickly jump into the pool as soon as he's done so she won't notice it.

* InconsistentDub: The dub's translations of the anime generally use English modes of address when translating text onscreen. For example, Chizuru's bill in the opening is addressed to "Mr. Kazuya Kinoshita". Despite this, the dubbed episodes leave the honorifics in, such as when Chizuru calls Kazuya "Kazuya-san" in a speech bubble in Episode 10.
