* AccidentalHero:
** Kiyoshi accidentally humiliated Hana twice, once for witnessing her peeing (which ended the work for the day) and another for peeing on her (making her avoid guard duty and giving Kiyoshi and Gakuto a window of opportunity to break out of prison).

* BadDate
** Kiyoshi's date with Chiyo goes well until he decides to go to the restroom. At that moment Chiyo accidentally spills water on his bag. Thinking he has a cellphone in it, she opens it, out only to find ''her'' uniform (which Kiyoshi unknowingly stole from the laundry services van for his disguise). When he comes back, she calls him disgusting and runs off.

*** They take advantage of Andre's extreme masochism and obsession with Meiko by not punishing him and have Meiko wear more modest clothes. Denied of tiltillation, he goes lunatic. Later on they lead him outside alone and Meiko, who's just beyond the barbwire fence, promises him punishment if he comes to her. This prompts him to break through the fence, made possible by deliberately weakening the wires, and since he's outside the prison it's considered another breakout.

* {{Blackmail}}:
** Shingo wants to stop being the USC spy after what they did to Joe, but Meiko warns him that if he quits then she'll tell the rest of the boys that he's been selling them out.

* DestroyTheEvidence:
** After DTO is completed, the USC destroys all documents of the plan. However, they're unaware that the files they can be recovered. Knowing this, the boys planned to recover the files in the Disciplinary Office and give them to the Chairman to prove that the USC framed them.

* EasyAmnesia:
** For a time, Hana blocks out what happened between her and Kiyoshi in the nurse's room after fainting from the shock.

** Gakuto is devastated when he and Kiyoshi discover that someone had fixed the hole in the wall Kiyoshi had made, ruining their break out plan and for Gakuto this means he pooped his pants for nothing. When Kiyoshi hears him crying during bedtime it gives him the resolve to come up with a new plan.
** Kiyoshi, after his date with Chiyo. The date ends badly with Chiyo thinking he's a creep when she finds her uniform in his bag, the USC finds out he broke out, and he got everyone's prison time extended by a month so his friends hate him. He's easily convinced by Mari to fill out a withdrawal form, which he almost does until Chiyo stops him.
** After the boys' first attempt at recovering the documents of OBE fails Kiyoshi's notes that they're not even sad about it, just broken. They continue their routine just waiting for their inevitable expulsion. The sole exception is Gakuto, who Kiyoshi describes as being not just broken, but destroyed. Specifically, he rambles constantly about impossible escape plans.
* HitMeDammit:
** After falling for the USC's trap and revealing how he sold his friends out Shingo offers them a chance to punch him as payback. They all decline except for Kiyoshi, who takes him up on his offer since Shingo punched him for his breakout but ends up simply giving him a light tap on the shoulder, at first anyway. (see RestrainedRevenge)

* LaserGuidedKarma:
** While Meiko gets Gakuto's action figure broken (though definitely not on the terms she wanted) the figure ends up getting the last laugh. Shingo, who is unaware of what happened since he was just coming back from running errands, comes back and identifies a piece of the figure as the plastic blade he found on the restroom floor and gave to Meiko. The same blade Meiko accidentally threw in food she made for Mari and ended up in Mari's mouth. Meiko tried to hide where blade was found out of fear of Mari's reaction but thanks to Shingo, Mari finds out and faints at the revelation.

* LoveInterestTraitor: Anzu was working for the USC the all along. Her mission was to get close to Shingo, invite him to watch a movie with her and set his watch thirty minutes behind so he'd be late coming back to school which would count as a breakout. She gets a [[HeelFaceTurn change of heart]] at the last minute when Shingo reveals all he's done to be with her.

* ShyBladder: In a restroom stall Hana demands Kiyoshi urinate while she watches as payback for Kiyoshi seeing her urinating outside. Kiyoshi tells her he can't with her watching so she tries to physically force him, only to end up slipping on the floor and for Kiyoshi to unintentionally relieve himself ''on her''.

* SpitefulSpit: Meiko has spit on Gakuto and Andre on multiple occasions to punish them. Andre, being a masochist, licked her spit the first time.

* WhatTheHellHero:
** Kiyoshi gets punched and yelled at by Shingo for getting the boys' sentence extended by a month for selfishly breaking out to go on a date with Chiyo.* * WorkoutFanservice: Any time Meiko works out since she usually does her workouts in her revealing school uniform, her large breasts tend to flop around a lot, she sweats so much it makes her clothes transparent and as with most of her panels, the focus tends to be on her breasts and crotch.

* NeverMyFault: Hana never once blamed herself for the mishaps that occurred to her, always choosing to focus all her misplaced rage on Kiyoshi whom she gradually start harboring a crush on.

* MarshmallowHeaven: When Chiyo cradles Kiyoshi's head to protect him from Meiko she ends up pressing his head against her breasts. She lets go after she realizes what she's doing. Later Kiyoshi notes how wonderful the experience was and it adds to his resolve not to withdraw from the school.

* ShaggyDogStory: In a weird sense, the entire background premise of the series since the first arc has been the male leads driven by their desire to see the school's annual Wet T-Shirt competition. From getting out of prison to latter trying to back the Underground Student Council to try and get their power back, this has been the guy's driving motivation. [[spoiler: The competition never ends up happening.]]

The series received an anime adaptation by Creator/JCStaff for the Summer 2015 season, and has received a live-action series in October 2015. Weekly publications for the manga ended on Dec 25, 2017, making a total of 277 chapters. An epilogue chapter for the series was published in April 2018.

* DeusAngstMachina: A big one relative to a comedy series. For the past few days before the BBQ, Chiyo continued with her naive optimism that people are planning a surprise birthday party for her. Not only did that not happen, [[spoiler:Hana meets her only to give her a disparaging account of Kiyoshi, whom she had a crush on. Kiyoshi arrives, and not only did he not know its her birthday, he gave his love confession while at the same time admitting to all the crazy things he did with Hana. Chiyo, ever the understanding girl, still chose to accept both the good and bad side of him. Seeing this causes Hana give up trying to prevent the two from dating and give them her blessing on their relationship... Well, she tries to do that but instead has a change of heart and decide she simply can not allow Kiyoshi to date Chiyo. So she reveals to Chiyo one last lie that Kiyoshi told her - He did not leave Hana's panties in his drawer. He's actually been wearing them to make a love confession to Chiyo, and in the shock of that revelation completely shatters Chiyo's trust in Kiyoshi and men in general]]

* ShaggyDogStory: The manga ended abruptly with many plot threads left unresolved. The Andre-Risa relationship and arguably Kiyoshi-Hana-Chiyo triangle romance were the only plot threads that concluded. Even then, Kiyoshi's [[spoiler:ultimate failure in his love confession was attributed to his lack of honesty from the start of the series - He did not confess to Chiyo that he attempted to peep on the girls in the shower]].

* ThrowTheDogABone: The epilogue is a light example: [[spoiler: the boys may have all mostly struck out with their respective romantic interests and failed to grow as people, but they finally achieved their series-long goal of getting to watch the wet t-shirt contest.]]

* ShaggyDogStory: The manga ended abruptly with many plot threads left unresolved. * DramaticIrony: A lot of the series' humor comes from utilizing this trope combining with SeriousBusiness. An memorable example would be the scene where the boys are discussing how much suffering Kiyoshi is undergoing at the hands of Hana... Which cuts to Kiyoshi making out with her.

* BigBad:
** Mari, in the 1st story arc, is leading the charge to make the boy's stay in prison as hellish as possible and later on she tries to get them expelled.
** Kate, in the 2nd and 3rd story arc, is using the new powers of the Official Student Council to get revenge on Mari.
** Hana, in the final story arc where she opposes Kiyoshi's love confession to Chiyo for [[LovingBully her own personal reasons]].

* AbortedArc: The wet t-shirt contest. Despite the boys pushing forwards for just that one event, not only does it never get shown, but it's also the least important part of the whole plot. [[spoiler:Only at the very end of the series, in the extra epilogue chapter, do the boys go to see it. [[TheUnreveal The audience never does, though.]]

* ArcSymbol: If you had one thing that captured Kiyoshi and Hana's relationship, it would be pee. Her whole fixation on Kiyoshi only started because he caught her whizzing outside, some of their closest moments came about by one or the other peeing on each other, and Kiyoshi [[spoiler:being exposed for all the perverted things he's done over the series]] by Haha is capped off with him peeing on himself while Haha watches.

* PopCulturePunEpisodeTitle: A lot of the Chapter names are either movie titles like ''TaxiDriver'', or swap around one word for another like ''[[Film/BrokeBackMountain Broke Back Prison]]''.

** After absorbing the duties of the newly imprisoned USC, the ASC became more powerful than either student council had ever been on their own. Left unchecked, they were able to openly spread propaganda and turn the entire student body against the USC, and avoided any official justice in framing the USC for burning a tree, mistreatment of a mentally regressed Meiko, and getting bullies to attack Chiyo.

* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem:
** The USC are supposed to enforce the school rules but they don't have any issues breaking numerous of them in their attempt to get the boys expelled.
** After absorbing the duties of the newly imprisoned USC, the ASC became more powerful than either student council had ever been on their own. Left unchecked, they were able to openly spread propaganda and turn the entire student body against the USC, and avoided any official justice in framing the USC for burning a tree, mistreatment of a mentally regressed Meiko, and getting bullies to attack Chiyo.

* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem: The USC are supposed to enforce the school rules but they don't have any issues breaking numerous of them in their attempt to get the boys expelled.

** The School also had the real-life, normal variant of the Student Council, and aren't relevant to the plot until the Underground Student Council's crimes was exposed and [[HowTheMightyHadFallen had to be sent to the prison themselves]]. By absorbing the Underground Student Council's duties into their existing ones, the Student Council became even more powerful than the Underground Student Council had ever demonstrated, and began calling themselves the "Aboveground Student Council".

** Strangely, the school has another student council as well, the "Aboveground" Student Council. They're just the normal variant, and aren't even relevant to the plot until they take over duties of their underground counterparts, who have to serve prison time after the boys expose their activities.

** The USC used to be admired by most of the student body, even having a few fangirls. However, their reputation took a massive hit after their cruelty to the boys were exposed, forcing them to serve time. To make matters worse the official Student Council is trying to get them in more trouble to damage them further.

** Averted: [[spoiler: Andre's love confession was to Risa, not Meiko]].
