* PowerLevels: Within the story, there exists a power level system that determines an individual's abilities and it can be measured through a MagicalAccessory called Balor's Power Eye. An individual's overall power level is the sum of three different stats. These are ''Power'' which measures an individual's magical abilities, ''Strength'' which measures their physical abilities, and ''Spirit'' which measures their willpower in battle. These power levels can determine whether or not a person is Holy Knight material. The standards for different kingdoms vary, but for the Liones kingdom, a power level of at least 300 is required for a person to qualify for knighthood.

The manga is by Suzuki Nakaba who also created ''Manga/KongohBancho''. It has been released in English by Kodansha Comics under the title ''The Seven Deadly Sins.'' It was later [[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-04-11/the-seven-deadly-sins-fantasy-manga-gets-tv-anime confirmed]] that the series would have an anime adaptation by Creator/A1Pictures. It began airing on October 5, 2014 and will run for two cours.

** In regards also to the two above, certain foreshadowing of Meliodas' true nature have been cut as well.

** Another is the Forest of the Fairy King, the home of King and Elaine, [[spoiler:which unfortunately was burnt down by a demon]].
** A third is [[spoiler:the revived Forest of the Fairy King which is revived by Ban in a new location. He did this before he was captured thanks to the seed given to him from Elaine]].

* AdaptationInducedPlotHole: The anime has one with Oslo not being included. Though his initial appearance doesn't have him do anything significant, he does serve a role later on in the anime.

* PragmaticAdaptation: The anime adaptation by Creator/A1Pictures changes some things.

** Oslo is so far AdaptedOut from the anime, at least concerning his scenes and appearances during the Sins' venture to the Capital of the Dead. Considering that he had a somewhat very minor role during said venture that added nothing really significant other than showing further that Meliodas and Ban are badasses, seemingly disappeared completely for a long time after it, and only reappeared way much later to play an actual role in the story, it's kinda understandable why he was cut though it does create a AdaptationInducedPlotHole.

** A third is [[spoiler:the revived Forest of the Fairy King which is revived by Ban in a new location. He did this before he was captured thanks to the seed given to him from Elaine]].

* TheLostWoods: A number have appeared in the series so far. One is the Forest of White Dreams, a foggy forest inhabited by imps called Hide and Seekers and the location where Diane hid. Another is the Forest of the Fairy King, the home of King and Elaine, which unfortunately was burnt down by a demon. It however was revived by Ban at some point in time when he planted the seed given to him from Elaine.
* LoveDodecahedron: Meliodas seems to be in love with Elizabeth however it's unknown if he's simply [[ReplacementGoldfish projecting his previous lover Liz]] unto her since she resembles her greatly both in [[IdenticalStranger looks]] and [[OneSteveLimit name]]. Elizabeth likewise fell in love with Meliodas despite his lecherous actions towards her but is unsure if she's in love or not. Diane is in love with Meliodas but her feelings are unreciprocated. King is in love with Diane but his feelings likewise are unreciprocated and the extent of their relationship is complicated. Hauser also fell in love with Diane but his feelings are much less unreciprocated.

* MedievalEuropeanFantasy: The general setting of the series is medieval fantasy complete with knights and princesses.

* NoodleIncident: A past mission the Sins had at the Castle of Edinburg prior to their frameup has so far been referred to a few times. The particular mission was the one wherein Ban got so drunk that he couldn't join the rest of the Sins to face off against a group of vampires.

* OneManArmy: Each individual Holy Knight is considered the equal of a thousand men. When the northern barbarians invade with an army of three thousand men, two knights working together are able to wipe the army out with minimal effort. The new generation of Holy Knights is supposedly even stronger if only because they use demon blood to boost their powers.

* TheLostWoods: Two have appeared in the series so far. The first is the Forest of White Dreams, a foggy forest inhabited by imps called Hide and Seekers and the location where Diane hid. * TheMagnificentSevenSamurai: The eponymous Seven Deadly Sins are seven extremely powerful knights: each of them permitted a serious crime and they were punished to work for the Leones Kingdom for several hundred years. They were the heroes of Leones until they were framed for killing the Great Holy Knight Zaratras and split up during the chaos. During the course of the series, the leader Leonidas with the help of Princess Elizabeth gathers the other members of the Seven Deadly Sins [[spoiler:and eventually saves Leones from Hendriksen, the main culprit, even though only six of the Seven Deadly Sins have been gathered]].

* MobileKiosk: Due to the Boar Har being carried on a giant pig, the bar can be moved around the land to serve various other customers in other places. As such, it often comes off as TheLittleShopThatWasntThereYesterday to people who come across the bar for the first time.

* BarbieDollAnatomy: Diane and Elizabeth get hit with this when they are shrunk and can no longer fit in their clothes.
** Jericho gets this when she [[spoiler: is transformed into a Demon.]]
* BareYourMidriff: Elizabeth.

** The scene wherein Ban meets Cenette in Baste Dungeon is omitted and how Cenette is freed is changed. Considering the original manga scene had [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything a shirtless almost predatory Ban look like he was about to do something nasty to a shackled and helpless Cenette]], the omission is understandable even if in reality Ban was only interested in the dagger that Cenette had in her possession.

* PowersDoTheFighting: King uses his [[FlyingWeapon Flying]] and MorphWeapon Chastiefol to do most of his fighting since he is a SquishyWizard who is physically weaker than an old man with a bad back.

* DisproportionateRetribution: Gilthunder did this when visiting Bernia, which is known for their famous ale. Gilthunder mocked their efforts and when a boy, Mead, wanted to get even by putting a worm in his drink as a harmless prank, Gilthunder responded by plunging his sword into the ground and stopping the water flow, preventing the town from making their ale, nearly leading to their economic ruin since it's how they thrive.
