* In ''Film/LoveAtFirstBite'', "I'm a doctor -- I know what I'm doing" is practically a CatchPhrase for the heroine's would-be boyfriend and vampire hunter.

Sometimes, a person noting his own occupation is a legitimate argument to get people to take him seriously. When a problem arises in which one's occupational skills and talents can be put to practice, such as after a DIYDisaster, a character noting himself to be a licensed plumber or architect can become pretty useful to have around. In this respect, the cocky hero protagonist who is confident in his abilities and is very skilled at a certain task gets another stock quip or pithy one-liner he can deliver whenever anyone has doubts in him.

* The sketch comedy show ''InLivingColor'' had a character named Fire Marshall Bill, played by Jim Carrey. Insane, masochistic, and [[NightmareFace Nightmare Faced]], it's no surprise that when he says some variation of "Don't worry, I'm a fire marshall", it's of no reassurance…and it doesn't help that he has a tendency to say that right before blowing up the building that he's in.

* ''SaturdayNightLive'' parodies of ''The View'' with Tracy Morgan as Starr Jones would always see Ms. Jones begin every single sentence in a discussion noting, "I am a lawyer" followed by an observation about the news story or subject being discussed that is [[CaptainObvious completely obvious]].

* In ''Discworld/GoingPostal'' and ''Discworld/MakingMoney'', Moist manages to pull off "I'm a criminal. Trust me." This is because Discworld has a high incidence of belief in AtLeastIAdmitIt and the ReliableTraitor; you can trust Moist precisely ''because'' he can admit he's here to trick you out of your money.
