* TabletopGame/Symbaroum: "The Chronicle of the Throne of Thorns" introduces Aluin, [[spoiler:child of a priest and a nature spirit. Aluin is a playful being of "pure creative power", a god in the immortal form of a human boy. He exists beyond the rules of the game, and can do almost anything he wishes. "Mother of Darkness" confirms that he could probably purge all corruption from the cursed forest of Davokar, ending the whole saga three books early, but he won't. As written, the player characters can persuade him to do small things, such as providing food and drink, but Aluin won't do anything more until the final chapter. Additionally, his presence as a living deity is largely ignored by the organised religions (devoted to far more distant, less powerful gods) and other power blocs]], so doesn't impact the political scheming. The end result is that players and [=GMs=] seem to consider him an awkward, needless presence who adds little to the six-volume saga and disrupts the DarkFantasy tone of the setting.

* A single hated character: The Scrappy, as an s, only applies to individual characters. Hated works, products, or real people do not count. Groups don't count either as they are not characters, and each character could vary in individual popularity (unless said group is small enough that all of its members can feasibly be judged Scrappies on their own). The Minions seem to be quite hated for being annoying comic relief characters who are constantly shoehorned into everything related to Creator/Illumination, but since they are an entire race of beings, they cannot be considered Scrappies because it isn't fair to judge every single one of them. Things like vehicles, weapons, or locations aren't characters either, so they cannot be Scrappies unless they're portrayed as sentient and have some characterization.Neopia Central has a reputation for being boring among players, due to having neither a theme like the other places nor many games. However, it is a place, not a character, and therefore doesn't count.
* Hated for narrative reasons: They're hated for the perception of being poorly written or detracting from the narrative. If the character is hated for gameplay reasons as opposed to narrative or character writing, that's a HighTierScrappy or LowTierLetdown (if they're a playable character), ThatOneBoss or GoddamnedBoss (if they're an enemy), or other Audience Reactions such as ScrappyMechanic or ThatOneSidequest. Canary Mary is widely reviled by the fandom, but most of the hate is due to the unfair difficulty of her races rather than how she is written, so she doesn't qualify as a Scrappy. However, if the character is hated for story and gameplay reasons, then they're still fair game.Although Lorithia is hated for being ThatOneBoss, players also hate her for , so she still counts. If the character is hated because people hate the actor portraying the character, that's XPacHeat.

* Izzy of the 1996 UsefulNotes/OlympicGames is considered one of the least popular Olympics mascots ever. His design is obnoxious and baffling; most people simply passed him off as a "giant blue sperm with legs." His video game wasn't even any good and played like a bad Sonic clone. Not enough? The character was unpopular enough that Izzy's Quest for Olympic Gold, a 30-minute-long animated special that stars Izzy as the main character and aired on TNT, was never rerun after its initial airing and was lost until a VHS copy transfer resurfaced online December 2020. That's right, nobody liked him enough to bother preserving the special until then!

* With how long-running and infamous Toys/BeanieBabies are, it should come as no surprise that there are some Beanies (and Spin Offs thereof) that collectors turn their noses up at.
** Graduation owls were the original Scrappies among collectors. They tend to be more stiff compared to regular Beanie Babies and they tend to have "Class of (year)" embroidery that heavily dates them. It doesn't help that they were massively overproduced, even by the standards of other mid-late 90s Beanies.
** In general, Ty's human-based plushies and lines thereof tend to be maligned due to veering into the UnintentionalUncannyValley. The Beanie Kids/Boppers in particular are disliked due to their soulless eyes and grins, selling for basically nothing on the secondhand market. Funnily enough, the clothes meant to tie-in with them are more valuable than the Boppers/Kids themselves, as they are able to fit most standard-sized Beanie Babies.
** Beanie Boos, the eventual successor to the original Babies line, are quite divisive among collectors. However, there are some Beanie Boos that even the most ardent of Boo collectors won't defend:
*** The so-called Uniboos, Beanie Boos that are regular animals with unicorn horns (i.e. Helena the Unicorn Husky) are loathed even among fans of Beanie Boos, as many find their horns to be tacky and unnecessary. The sole exception is Grindal, as the horn looks less unnatural on him due to being a dragon. Eventually, Ty began releasing hornless versions of previously-released Uniboos.
*** The long-necked Boos, sometimes known as Ostrich Boos, are similarly reviled for their odd, ugly appearances. Camilla in particular is loathed for going into the UnintentionalUncannyValley thanks to her flesh-colored fur.
*** The Squish-a-Boos line, later renamed to Squishy Beanies. They are hated due to clearly being made to capitalize on the popularity of Toys/Squishmallows and having designs that are best described as "colorful sameface limbless blobs" (even Squishmallows tend to have embroidered limbs and details). The only sought-after Squish-a-Boo is the 21st Billionaire Bear, and even then that's less so due to its design and more so because it's an employee-exclusive Billionaire Bear.

Adding some examples for ones that didn't have them.

* Hated by the majority of the audience: If they have about as many fans as detractors, even if the latter are more obvious, that's a BaseBreakingCharacter. Examples of AmericansHateTingle and GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff similarly don't count, as they have fans somewhere. Hiyoko Saionji is incredibly hated by English-speaking fans due to being a cruel bully whose actions are too mean-spirited to be entertaining, to the point that someone only familiar with that part of the fandom could easily assume she's an example, but she's well-liked in the franchise's native Japan, which disqualifies her. Someone not personally liking a character is not this (unless it's a ShowWithinAShow example). For a character to truly be considered a Scrappy, even the SilentMajority has to dislike this character.

If a character causes 90% of fans to abandon/turn against the story, sounds like he counts.

* Fanfic/TheAssassinationOfTwilightSparkle: Amadeus Blueblood, while very much supposed to be hated, was disliked as the source of the HappyEndingOverride and GenreShift that made the later stories so unpopular they had only 1/10th the likes. He's seen as only having been successful due to the heroes being inept and the setting having so much corruption fans saw things as hopeless. Even karma catching up to him was undercut by the heroes mistakes allowing him to posthumously set up the conflict that would further darken things and completely move the story away from what made the original fic well received.
