Zordon deciding it was time for them to move on with their lives and allow them to retire and hand their reins over to others. Indeed other then Tommy and Adam, we never see these rangers again. Kat, plus the forcibly retired Rocky, would return in the 25th anniversary reunion, but Tanya has never returned period.
