** It wasn't bowdlerised- the original concept art was never intended to be in the final product. It's been stated several times that the concept art was just created to literally push a "boundaries" on what was Disney "acceptable". The basic groundwork for the world is still there- not sure if it's still a sugar apocalypse- but the original idea and intent is still there. Plus the game hasn't been released- there may be more than meets the eye to the final product.

** Two pretty good examples... ''MarioAndLuigiPartnersInTime'' (WarOfTheWorlds meets the Mushroom Kingdom, complete with two happy towns getting bombed to smithereens by the invading Shroobs and souls being drained by UFO fuel), and ''Super PaperMario'' (the happy Sammer's Kingdom gets completely wiped out of existance, leaving just a blank white void).

** Heck the game itself is one big Sugar Apocalypse. You start out with the impression that this is just going to be a demon themed 'mon game and then riots start happening and the police are useless and you remember that the people who made this game really like to make crapsack worlds.

Fixing up some examples. I don't think the Eden of christianity is an example — not cutesy. The original version of Oz isn't the point of the Wicked example: there is a well-established mainstream image of Oz in many, many different media that is generally soft and cute — that's the basis of comparision here. Noted that in the text.

* ''Wicked'' and its sequels shows the land of [[{{The Wizard of Oz}} Oz]] in a much [[{{Darker and Edgier}} darker]] fashion, with liberal cursing, graphic sex and violence, and very adult themes. Delving into the Wicked Witch of the West's backstory involves dismemberment, a puppet sex show, cursing, and dirty jokes right when she's ''born'', let alone the rest of the novel. It later features sex, murder, persecution, death squads, and the Witch's growing insanity. The later novels are no better, with the immediate sequel, ''Son of a Witch'', having her son join the military and engage in acts that distinctly resemble the Vietnam War.
** This AlternateContinuity version of Oz was ''never'' the semi-Uptopian land of wonderment that Dorothy saw. It starts out bad and gets far worse, with any perceived sugar being due to the fact that Gregory's version of Dorothy is a sort of Flanderized take on the Judy Garland version...naive, weepy, and sentimental to an insane degree.

** Heck the game itself is one big Sugar Apocalypse. You start out with the impression that this is just going to be a demon themed 'mon game and then riots start happening and the police are useless and you remember that the people who made this game really like to make crapsack worlds.

So she has a huge slumber party with everyone, with Finn guarding the castle, and he can't tell anyone about the zombies. It's actually a subversion.

* There was once an alliance first in the german webgame Space Assault and later Icewars. In Icewars they revolutinized the way the game the game was played and started a war with a few allies against basically the rest of the universe. They may have won if the game would not have been resetted. Their name? ''SMURFS''. The little blue guys had an official newspaper that can be found [[http://www.pilz-media.de/archiv.html here]] (only the first 2 parts are from the alliance, the later ones are from their successor and generally the same guy).

* There is a story called "Day of the Barney" in which the purple dinosaur commands his young viewers to kill all the adults. He then takes over using his armies of hooded, mutant "Beloved Ones" and enforces a children-only world by [[spoiler: having a ceremony occur whenever a child turns 13-years-old: the boys are decapitated, and the girls are brainwashed, locked into ''rape camps'', and forced to give birth to more half-human "Beloved Ones."]] The memorable thing about the story?
