* There is a famous quote attributed to Marilyn Monroe (on a USO-type visit). She was asked, "What do you think of sweater girls?" Her reply: "Not much, I mean take away their sweaters and what have they got?" The troops went so wild she couldn't get off the stage.
** And the actresses she was dissing, Lana Turner and Jane Russell? Half of their careers were built on fuzzy wool.
** Perhaps ironically, Monroe did get cast in this role occasionally (mostly early on), including the 1952 film ''Monkey Business''.

If a sweater has more than a background use, it's either a HomemadeSweaterFromHell or this trope. Tight sweaters tend to wrap quite well around a lady's figure. You don't even need the MostCommonSuperPower to fit in them. Yet they ''just'' [[FormFittingWardrobe outline the figure]] (there's a reason [[BuxomIsBetter shapely breasts]] are called "sweater puppies") while barely actually showing anything. That makes wearing a tight sweater some of the most tasteful FetishFuel around (not to mention one of the few actually acknowledged in mainstream fiction).
