The original director and creator of the series, Joe Brumm, became busy with work on ''WesternAnimation/{{Bluey}}'', while Creator/HalfbrickStudios was undergoing a restructure [[https://www.cnet.com/tech/gaming/fruit-ninja-jetpack-joyride-redundant-mobile-halfbrick/ that led to half of its team to be laid off]] after years of struggling to follow up on the success of ''VideoGame/FruitNinja'' and ''VideoGame/JetpackJoyride''. Stage 9 was released 5 years later in 2021, with Studio Joho and Joe Brumm still involved, but the animation being handled by by Octopie.
