** He also happens to be played by a RealLife example: Peter Capaldi is an art school graduate, is rather fond of literally wearing pink, and has described himself as "an incurable old fop". One would never guess from seeing him in character as Malcolm.

* A guy at ThisTroper's camp, a tough-looking guy, was involved in a nail-and-hair party by the Ridge and Little Ridge girls that included him getting his nails painted BRIGHT PINK and twisties in his hair, though he had to take it off for Visiting Day.

Arguably the basis is that someone who's [[RatedMForManly self-evidently "masculine"]] doesn't need to demonstrate his masculinity in the stereotypical ways. (Even if by wall-punching steel and [[DeathGlare Death Glaring]], he kinda ''is'' demonstrating it in the stereotypical ways. Try not to think too hard about that.) An alternative explanation for this behavior is if the Manly Man sees something as manly then it ''will'' become manly as he himself ''is'' the definition of manly, kind of how celebrities tend to change fashion in [[TruthInTelevision Real Life]]. Sometimes there is a DoubleStandard at work: while cooking in the home may be seen as traditionally women's work, only MEN are great chefs (seriously, look it up - compare ChefOfIron while you're at it). And then some men just like to use this as a practical reason to start fights. Or enjoy the fact that no one will dare to mock him. (Would you?)

* In ''Big Bang Comics'', Batman CaptainErsatz the Knight Watchman makes a living as a famous women's fashion designer.

** {{Gundam00}} features Tieria Erde, the pilot of the hugest, fattest and most heavily armed Gundam, Virtue, which wields a gun the size of Idaho, and if that isn't enough, has shoulder-mounted cannons to provide cover fire. When he isn't unceremoniously raining down destruction on everything, he's being cranky and bossy and putting upstart individuals in their place even when it isn't quite called for. The catch? 1. He looks more feminine that any other guy in the entire series, and 2. when chilling on the Celestial Being mothership, he makes himself comfortable in a lovely pink cardigan.

This can also be true in other areas of life. For some reason, gritty loners, [[TheBrute hulking brutes]], and all around uber-manly characters tend to gravitate towards at least one decidedly un-manly interest or hobby. Usually, it involves baking, sewing, or the color pink. While oftentimes this hobby is kept under wraps alongside the EmbarrassingMiddleName, Mr. Badass quite often shamelessly enjoys it. Even more often, it's just [[HiddenDepths one of those things]] [[YouDidntAsk you just never bothered to ask about]]. Plus, apparently he was never instilled with the PinkGirlBlueBoy archetype when he was growing up. Or maybe he was, and couldn't be bothered with it anyway. It's a safe assumption that [[EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas he cares very deeply for his mother]].

** Try Reid, from ''Symphonia'''s spiritual predecessor ''{{Tales of Eternia}}''. Pink, embroidered "man-bra", as it has been described elsewhere on this wiki. The boy can cook, which is as well, since he's also a BigEater. And he's as close as the team has to a TeamMom, serving as a cautious, responsible foil to Farah's brash impulsiveness and Meredy's childish curiosity and enthusiasm (compare to [[HotBlooded every other series lead]], except [[TalesOfInnocence Ruca]], who's just a wuss). He also has a good case to be the straightest-played lead in the [[TalesSeries entire series]], and he's got the potential to wield the power of [[{{God}} Seyfert]].

* In ''NeonGenesisEvangelion'', Ryoji Kaji takes up growing watermelon as a hobby; he asks Shinji to keep it a secret, because he doesn't want his tough reputation to be compromised.

* Akira Kongou from ''KongohBancho'' spends all day gathering the finest ingredients (killing evil devil cows, climbing mountains) to make himself...the most delicious pudding ever. Man loves his pudding.
