To a lot of people, animation has been pigeonholed as being [[AnimationAgeGhetto exclusively]] for [[AllAnimationIsDisney PG kid stories]]. However animation is a medium rather than a genre or setting, and like any other medium it can be used to tell any kind of story. It can also be used for long-running serial stories where more mature elements are planned but not until some long time into the story, opening mature elements can make sure the franchise doesn't pick up any fans too young for what's coming.

The main protagonist, Yuri, then proceeds to have a brutal fight with the Big Bad which includes Yuri punching the villain's face in. Ironically, the rest of the game is far from being this violent again.
