Power Trios can be embedded in larger ensembles. ThreePlusTwo is a Power Trio within a FiveManBand. The Five Temperament version of the FourTemperamentEnsemble sometimes manifests as two Power Trios with the same central member. A SixStudentClique is often broken into two Power Trios and a MagnificentSevenSamurai often has one, and sometimes two, Power Trios of its own.

Below, we list the many variations of a Power Trio. FreudianTrio is one of the more frequently found versions and is often the basis of the other trios. They can overlap. However notice that the vast majority trio tropes don't find themselves on a scale as all scales are largely implied by virtue of being a trio.

* EquineRaceTrio: A Power Trio of complementary leg motion advantages for each one's respective terrain: Agile Horse for relatively smooth and solid terrain (or racetrack), Steady Camel for softer, sandier (and sometimes rougher) terrain, and Nimble Donkey for steep, mountainous terrain. Compare Horse to road-bike, Camel to beach-bike/cruiser, and Donkey to mountain-bike.

* WithAFriendAndAStranger: Male center, joined by a childhood friend and a girl from out of nowhere.
