* Yamato from Manga/MyLoveStory has a very obvious crush on Takeo at the start however he believes that she likes his best friend. He tries to pair the two together (despite Suna being uninterested in any girl who has ever liked him). All other girls have ignored him due to his gonk looks so he doesn't believe Yamato could like him. This lasts less than four episodes because Suna gets sick of their pussyfooting around and gets them to notice each others feelings. They spend the rest of the series being the OfficialCouple.

** The titular character never actually picked up on Hyuuga Hinata's having a massive crush on him despite everyone else seeing it; rather, he thought she was just being Hinata. When he actually found out , he was very surprised.
*** Also deconstructed a bit. Naruto wasn't raised by a loving family and was something of a pariah. He does feel love and tries and show it, but few times have people shown him affection so the idea of someone loving him like that would come as a shock to him.
*** Finally subverted in Anime/TheLastNarutoTheMovie, where [[spoiler:he finally realizes that Hinata loves him in that way and realizes the true nature of his feelings as well. Ironically, it's Hinata that's oblivious to his growing feelings for her until he spits it out before she is kidnapped by Toneri. Afterwards, the two enter a relationship and eventually marry and have two children]].

** Boa Hancock is (extremely obviously) in love with main protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, yet is too shy to say it outright. He has no idea whatsoever.
*** Considering he tells her after the timeskip that he won't marry her he probably knows but isn't interested. Assuming he properly understands the connection between romance and marriage, which is far from guaranteed.

* An episode of "Series/InPlainSight" has Mary helping a witness who's in love with a suspect in the case he's involved with, something Mary figures out fast. They eventually bring the woman in to get her help with Mary snapping about how this guy is going to all these lengths to help the woman he loves...and is stunned when the woman is actually surprised to realize this.

* It's obvious from their first scene on Series/Supergirl that Winn is crazy about Kara, even before she tells him about her powers. He seems drawn to her as both Kara and Supergirl and jealous of James' relationship with Kara. Kara remains oblivious to it all until Winn (anguished after his murderous father came after him) finally confesses his feelings. He kisses her with a surprised Kara gently letting Winn down that she only thinks of him as a friend. While disapointed, Winn does accept this and they remain just good friends from there on.

* In Cromwell by Victor Hugo, Rochester is one of the men plotting against Cromwell and convinced he's in a forbidden romance with the man's daughter, sharing looks and that this affair will protect him. He's found guilty with the rest and to be executed, at which point the audience learns that Cromwell's daughter had no idea who the man even was and the "affair" existed only in his mind.

* The Doctor to Martha in Series/DoctorWho. Eventually, she gives him an AnguishedDeclarationOfLove, which they subsequently agree to ignore in order to preserve their friendship. Later on, he describes to her a device that keeps them hidden from the hypnotised public to her as "It's like when you fancy someone, but they don't even know you exist." He rushes off, and Captain Jack reads her expression: "You too, huh?"

** River Song's belief that the Doctor was oblivious to her love for him is a plot point in several episodes, most recently "The Husbands of River Song".
** There are several moments in Series 8 where it is hinted at that the Twelfth Doctor is still interested in Clara, despite her finding a human boyfriend. Examples include his BadassBoast "Beat that for a date!" when Clara is out of earshot in "Time Heist", his undisguised jealousy towards Danny (said boyfriend) in "The Caretaker", and pretty much every scene he shares with Clara in "Mummy on the Orient Express".

** Goku probably takes the cake. Chi-Chi develops a crush on him right after meeting him, and he fails to pick up on it, and when she asks if he'll marry her he thinks that marriage is food. As of Anime/DragonBallZ, however, it's clear he loves his wife, although he still has a funny way of showing it.
*** Saiyans are not as well connected to emotions as humans are. That and Goku was raised by his adoptive grandfather in the wilderness for his youth with his first friend being Bulma, whom acted like an older sister of sorts.

* Hilshire from Manga/GunslingerGirl is this, starting with Maria Machiavelli's hints that they should work out their relationship and going all the way up to obliviously ruining the atmosphere Triela made with a candlelit dinner. Considering her cyborg nature, and how much of that affection may be conditioning, which she admits she has difficulty telling apart (until a more recent chapter, she gets a LoveEpiphany and indeed realises that her feelings for Hilshire are genuine), it's understandable. However, Hilshire still remains oblivious even to the increased affection she shows him after said epiphany, although the fact he was asleep (due to the painkiller from hastily administered field medicine) when it came to her and when she kissed him, it's also somewhat understandable. Not to mention the fact that Triela is underage . One suspects that Hilshire ignoring her overtures is deliberate.

* Nitori from Manga/WanderingSon didn't realize Saori's PuppyLove for her until Saori went and confessed. Saori's LoveConfession bombed in her face because earlier that day Nitori herself confessed to their mutual friend Takatsuki (and was declined). * Guts from Manga/Berserk never really bothered to realize that Casca wanted him to stay with the Hawks - not solely because Griffith was so dependent on Guts as chief member of the Hawks - because she was falling in love with him. He also completely and utterly fails to notice how obsessed Griffith is with him, to the point of assuming that his utterly crushed stance when Guts is leaving has to do with Griffith being unable to deal with being defeated. She didn't show it (except when she saw him chatting up Charlotte), and if Griffith was aware of it he probably encouraged it but by the time Griffith is recued she's in love with Guts.
