* ''Manga/PuellaMagiKazumiMagica'' begins with the eponymous character trapped completely naked inside a suitcase, and while the reasons for her state of undress are actually pretty serious as revealed later, HilarityEnsues when she is freed as she (unsuccessfully) assaults her assumed captor right ''before'' noticing herself naked (followed by a growl in her stomach before the next scene begins with them eating together).

* In one ''ComicBook/{{Sturmtruppen}}'' story arc, a soldier realizes that the rules say that [[ExactWords the uniform must be kept in perfect order but say nothing about actually]] ''[[ExactWords wearing]]'' [[ExactWords it]]. HilarityEnsues as he goes around naked and the captain and the sergeant tries to find a way to make him wear the uniform and the other soldiers start ''imitating'' him.
** This arc is used in TheMovie. Here, however, the captain wins when he declares he'll pick one of the naked soldiers to be the attendant of the DepravedHomosexual general, prompting all the soldiers to get back in their uniforms -- except the poor schmuck who wasn't listening.

** In the first entry, a teleportation spell [[NakedOnArrival gone wrong]] leaves Viera and Gaz stranded in the middle of the woods completely naked. HilarityEnsues as they try to get home without being seen.

* Chet Kelly in the ''Series/{{Emergency}}'' fic ''[[http://web.archive.org/web/20080905165540/http://www.twochickies.com/youmakemefeellikedancin.htm You Make Me Feel Like Dancin']]'' ends up disco dancing naked at the station after his shower breaks. He finds no towels after borrowing the station's shower while the rest of the men are out and has set up a radio to have music while he does his thing. He starts dancing while looking for something to dry off with. The trouble is, he runs smack into returning Roy and John when they enter the locker room to investigate the music, and HilarityEnsues, plus some chaos.

* In ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' After a HulkOut, Bruce Banner wakes up naked in the middle of a pile of debris, and then an old janitor steps in. HilarityEnsues.

* In ''Film/CalenderGirl'' one of the {{Zany Scheme}}s the three hapless protagonists think up to meet Creator/MarilynMonroe involves finding her at a nude beach. A group of bad guys looking for Roy (as per the sub-plot) causes [[HilarityEnsues hilarity to ensue]] in spades. (When Roy finally ''does'' manage to talk to her, she [[ActuallyPrettyFunny actually has a good laugh]] about this part.)

* In ''Film/TheMaidenHeist'', George is obsessed with a nude male statue called "The Bronze Warrior", and strips completely naked in order to fully appreciate the piece -- and compare the statue's physique to his own. HilarityEnsues when George is in the middle of admiring the statue naked when a guard comes 12 minutes ahead of schedule. George ends up hiding in a crate, still naked. Major FanDisservice, unless you have always wanted to see William H. Macy's bare backside.

* In ''Film/WhenEvilCalls'', Michael wishes for XRayVision so he can see the girls' basketball team naked. Although he gets his wish, he then finds he cannot turn the power off, so he sees not only the nubile basketballers nude, but also his middle-aged male teacher, his headmaster, and his overweight father naked. Hellish for Michael, but [[HilarityEnsues hilarious for the audience]].

** Harry Dresden has an unfortunate habit of getting into situations naked or close to it. Special props to the first book, where he has to fight a toad demon stark naked (he was in the shower when it showed up), while his girlfriend is with him, ''while'' she is high on a LovePotion. HilarityEnsues.

* During one of WebVideo/{{Failboat}}'s ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewHorizons'' [[https://youtu.be/lYfkl4iJ1PY streams]], Fail accidently runs into a [[GoodBadBugs glitch]] where all the villagers wearing his custom clothing appear '''butt naked'''. Obviously, HilarityEnsues. Things ramp up even more when he has to take pictures of them both in and outside of the building, and when he invites them to the end of the game dance party (yep, they're dancing on the beach fully nude). At one point, Fail muses that if he put a naked character with a censor bar in the thumbnail, it would get ten times the average views. He then decides ''to do just that'' with Shino.

* ''Manga/{{Doraemon}}''
** Shizuka, the main character's LoveInterest. A RunningGag that's been going on for 25 years now is that any time she takes a bath -- anywhere, anywhen -- Nobita will walk in on her, run past her being chased by a dinosaur, teleport her into the middle of school, accidentally brainwash her to become a militant nudist, etc, etc.

* ''Manga/DragonBall'': Goku would often strip out of his undergarments and would often wind up playing this for laughs, such as when he transformed into Giant Ape form near the end of the first tournament arc and after being transformed back was more than willing to continue the fight even without clothes. ''DBZ'' used these gags far less, but it still popped up on occasion. For example, a filler episode very late in the series featured a naked Goku fighting a naked Gotenks after both of them had gotten out of the bath.
* In ''Literature/{{Durarara}}'', [[SuperStrength Shizuo]] once ''punched a thug out of his clothes''. (Save for his undies, that is.)
* ''Anime/EdenOfTheEast''. We first see Akira Takizawa [[NakedFirstImpression naked]] in front of the White House.

* Male characters in ''Manga/{{Gintama}}'' have fallen victim to this on more than a few occasions, with Kondo being the most frequent offender (Though it's often voluntary in his case).

* Creator/GoNagai surely is the earliest example in manga. He started the trend with ''Manga/HarenchiGakuen'' and he used the trope in most of his works: ''Anime/MazingerZ'' (in one episode several characters strip themselves for no apparent reason), ''Anime/CuteyHoney'', ''Manga/{{Devilman}}'' (sometimes), ''Manga/DororonEnmaKun'', ''Manga/KekkoKamen'', etc.

* ''Manga/KuroganeCommunication'' has Spike walk in on Haruka changing or showering several times. This always leads to Spike blushing and panicking, [[RidiculouslyHumanRobot despite the fact that he's a robot]].

* Yoruichi from ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' is completely nude when she changes into a human, which she is not bothered by - to the point where she can use this to irritate Ichigo.
** The original pilot also featured Rukia--[[{{Sizeshifter}} shrunk down when she was depowered]]--taking a bath in a [[{{Squick}} mug of milk]]. Her nudity in this scene is meant to be funny rather than sexy.

* Need we mention the elephant dance of ''Anime/CrayonShinChan'' fame? And sometimes he's still wearing pants doing this...

Nudity is one of the last great taboos, particularly in UsefulNotes/TheUnitedStates. Whereas it's OK to show violence, blood, and to a certain extent hate speech on TV, a tiny bit of nudity will cause an outright scandal. Just ask Janet Jackson and her [[WardrobeMalfunction "nip slip"]], which got more attention than the show she was putting on at the time, despite its sexually suggestive content that some say bordered on sexual assault by her co-star.

A character who ends up naked (or at least in only their underwear) in a situation they don't expect, such as losing their ModestyTowel (and they ''will'' [[StrippingSnag lose]] their Modesty Towel) in public, may have a NakedFreakOut and need to employ a HandOrObjectUnderwear. And if not, their naughty bits may still be hidden — from the camera, that is — by other forms of CensorshipTropes such as SceneryCensor (bonus points if it is a GagCensor). Almost always they'll end up [[NakedFirstImpression meeting another character]], meanwhile, the audience will have to make do with, at best, a ToplessnessFromTheBack or ShouldersUpNudity shot.

* ''WesternAnimation/DespicableMe'': A random werewolf reverts to human form while naked when the moon disappears.

* ''Webcomic/NaruHinaChronicles'': Temari claims she has no embarrassing childhood memories. However, Gaara says that Kankuro once told him about how, when she was about two or three years old, she hated wearing dresses and would remove them whenever and wherever she had the chance. This earned her the pet name of "the Suna Streaker" because she would often be running around while being naked, much to Temari's embarrassment.

Contrast FullFrontalAssault. For "Hollywood Nudism", see InnocentFanserviceGirl (''Clueless'' about the Nudity Taboo) and / or ShamelessFanserviceGirl (Doesn't ''Care'' about the Nudity Taboo). Has [[JustForFun/IThoughtItMeant nothing to do with]] a nudity-oriented ''People Are Funny''.

* ''ComicBook/FreedomFighters'': In the 2006 miniseries, Phantom Lady robs Lady Liberty of her powers by destroying her costume. The Ray then dumps Lady Liberty on a nearby nudist beach, supposedly to lessen her awkwardness and embarrassment. It appears to have the opposite effect, judging by how quick Lady Liberty is to [[HandOrObjectUnderwear use her arms to hide her chest and groin from the nudists.]]

Special mention goes to nudism. Nudism is a philosophy that basically boils down to "There's nothing wrong with being naked in certain situations, including some group situations". TheThemeParkVersion of this is "Hey, look, naked people," and is a great way to throw some {{Fanservice}} (or, even funnier but much grosser, FanDisservice) into your show. Nudists tend to be shoehorned into a few specific roles, depending on their role in the plot:

* ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI'' has a point where Locke disguises himself as an imperial soldier. This involves getting into a fight with one of them and then using the "steal" command to strip him. Once you do, the soldier's sprite actually changes to a naked guy trying to cover himself, after which he runs away. He does this to a merchant as well. After you steal the clothes, the battle indicator refers to the merchant/soldier as "B. Day Suit." or "Birthday Suit" in later releases.

* In the eighth episode of WebVideo/SuperMega's ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewHorizons'' series, titled "Ryan's Special Episode," the whole point of Ryan being naked during recording is that it's funny. Matt has a hard time adjusting to the unexpected naked man in the room with him, but that just makes it more funny.

** By extension ([[IncrediblyLamePun har har]]), anything even tangentially related to Creator/JuddApatow is likely going to involve giving the audience a peek at some guy's schlong. Suffice to say that Apatow has [[AccidentalInnuendo a firm grip]] on this trope.

** Mirio Togata is among UA's top students. His skills, however, are a {{Intangibility}} quirk that causes, among other side effects, his clothes to fall out of his body, so he fights naked against the entire class 1-A, which also causes some surprised reactions.

* ''ComicBook/TheSupermanAdventures'': Issue 28 has the story involve Superman and Jimmy Olsen switching brains. One part has Jimmy in Superman's body avoid looking at Lois Lane and Professor Hamilton, explaining that it's because he can't control his X-ray vision. His admission of this leads to a panel where Lois and Hamilton are depicted wearing transparent clothes, with Lois covering her breasts with her arm and having her pelvic region obscured by Hamilton's clipboard while Hamilton is viewed from the back and has his rear obscured from view by the panel border.

** Fever in John Arcudi's run would sometimes wind up at least topless because of her difficulty in controlling her powers and in the final issue is not happy to see that the robot body [[spoiler:Robotman dreams]] Doc Magnus put her brain in lacks clothes.

* ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoIVTheBalladOfGayTony'', mission "[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Caught With Your Pants Down]]". Yusuf Amir tries to explain to his "papa" why there's a hooker in his apartment and he's not wearing any pants (the scene later got adapted into an earworm of an AutoTune StupidStatementDanceMix, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1KGZsSd2Ok albeit a short one]]):

* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5015770/1/a_naked_padawan A Naked Padawan]]'', a ''Franchise/{{StarWars}}'' fic has Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon taking shelter in a cave from a windy snowstorm. Obi-Wan has to strip naked because his robes are soaked and need to dry by the fire. The next morning, a couple of female Jedi arrive to pick up the stranded duo. Obi-Wan forgets briefly that he's naked and ends up slipping, landing on his back and sliding down the hill, skidding to a stop right in front of the new arrivals. He jumps up and tries [[HandOrObjectUnderwear to cover his nudity]], stammering and embarrassed, until Qui-Gon throws his robes to him.

* Most of the {{Fanservice}} in ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex'' is this. Index's [[ClothingDamage clothes exploding]], Kuroko's [[BarelyThereSwimwear string bikini]] ("yeah, it's not what I'd usually wear, but it's the smallest they had"), and the [[ShamelessFanserviceGirl "Stripping Woman"]] are all PlayedForLaughs.
* In ''LightNovel/DemonKingDaimao'' Keena Soga has the ability to disappear not only visually, but from any magical tracking means. However, any clothes she has remains visible so she is always stripping naked (with the hair ornament she never takes off as the floating around as the only clue that she's even in the room). In episode two, she is running away from a dog when she runs straight into Akuto Sai and ends up becoming visible again completely naked and riding on top of him. There is also Junko Hattori who got her clothes blown off from fighting Akuto in a class full of their classmates.

* In ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'', [[SuperStrength Shizuo]] once ''punched a thug out of his clothes''. (Save for his undies, that is.)

* At one point in ''LightNovel/{{Haganai}}'', Yozora tricks Maria into taking her clothes off and running naked around the school swimming pool.

* Toori of ''LightNovel/HorizonInTheMiddleOfNowhere'' spends an inordinate amount of screen-time naked except for his portable, always-present magic censor. This is because his matron god is Ame no Uzume, Japanese god of merry-making, whose part in getting Amaterasu to leave her cave... was stripping naked and telling jokes.
* There is Keita from ''LightNovel/{{Inukami}}'' who always ends up naked in public whenever he pisses off his familiar, Youko. Youko teleports him out of his clothes and into the most populated place nearby that the cops are already familiar with him and the local perverts who are always in jail think of him as one of their own.
* ''LightNovel/IsThisAZombie'' (the anime version) first demonstrates Ayumu's zombie [[MadeOfIron durability]] by getting hit by a truck, which for some reason causes all his clothes to fly off (terrifying the nearby schoolgirls).
